00:00You're a videographer.
00:03Yeah.
00:05I don't mind.
00:06I won't burn.
00:07We're set.
00:08All right, cool.
00:09Well, I mean, obviously, I'm in sequence.
00:11How did you get in the Vegas mood?
00:12I am in dark songwriter mode still in Nashville, so I got to get there.
00:17I'm in the Vegas mood from everyone being around and getting to play and have some drinks, gambling a little bit.
00:21I'm in the mood, for sure.
00:22Yeah.
00:23Well, 2018 was a huge year for you.
00:25Huge.
00:26But you're making 2019 even bigger.
00:28You're playing at MSG in May.
00:30Reflect on that a little bit.
00:32Yeah, I have no idea, like, what's going on.
00:34I really don't.
00:35It's just one of those things you just take on.
00:38You pull your seatbelt on, you go along for the ride, and you just enjoy every moment of it.
00:42And, yeah, I'm excited.
00:43That's going to be incredible.
00:44Yeah.
00:44Is there anything you do specifically to be able to kind of sit back, relax, and enjoy it?
00:49Yeah.
00:50I mean, sometimes it's just kind of walking away, doing your thing.
00:52Like, I like to listen to music and kind of walk off, even, you know, walk down the strip for a minute, turn around,
00:56and just be like, this is cool.
00:58This is cool.
00:58Last year I was in the Noseblaze.
00:59The year before that, I didn't exist in this town.
01:01So it's just cool to look back on that and say, man, we're doing something right.
01:06And you just want to continue that momentum and hope you get to do it again.
01:10Yeah.
01:10Alcohol, You Later has some really hysterical undertones, but it's also a really serious song.
01:17Yeah, yeah.
01:18What are you working on next that's kind of going to, you know, follow up to this tone you've created?
01:24Yeah, I mean, that's the goal.
01:26I just want everyone to believe it.
01:27Whether it's like, you know, putting a, to turn a phrase like Alcohol, You Later, or whatnot.
01:30I mean, these are songs that I really did live and do.
01:33And my goal every night is to make you believe what I'm saying.
01:35I want to be authentic with my music.
01:36And so what I'm writing now is the same thing.
01:38It just might be how I feel at 29 instead of how I felt at 27 or 26.
01:42And, you know, it's just a different world.
01:44That's what I want to do.
01:45I want to look back on my records when I'm all and say, I remember living at that time.
01:48Because I can't in my mind.
01:49Like, I forget everything.
01:50But sometimes when I listen to songs, it reminds me of what I was going through then.
01:53And that's the goal in my records.
01:55Yeah.
01:55Well, and you think back to, you know, two years ago where you said you were a nobody in this industry.
02:01And thinking about to where you are now.
02:04Is there anything in your life particularly that's inspiring you in this industry?
02:12Well, my girlfriend right now, just how hard she's working, especially with women in country music right now.
02:16And, you know, she just has to work extra hard for no reason.
02:19And it's just, but she doesn't complain about it.
02:21She gets it.
02:22And she's working her butt off.
02:23And it will turn the page.
02:25But that's what's inspiring me.
02:26When I have a hard day, I'm like, I know yours was extra hard.
02:29So we'll be all right.
02:30I love that.
02:31Thank you so much, Mitchell.
02:32Thank you, guys.
02:33Thanks.
