00:00Hello, guys. It's Gonzalo from Hipertextual in Spain.
00:03Congratulations for the movie. It's such a pleasure being here with you.
00:05It's such a pleasure.
00:06Thank you so much.
00:06Very good.
00:08Well, I have some questions here.
00:10I would like to start with something that James Cameron said the other day,
00:13that this movie, even if we are going to have probably four and five,
00:17this feels like the end of a saga in a way.
00:20So I would like to ask you about your favorite personal endings of a trilogy
00:26in any one you like.
00:29Oh.
00:30That's cool.
00:32I think I love Twilight.
00:36I think I'm going with – as a kid, I would rewatch that action scene
00:40because they changed it from the books in Breaking Dawn Part 2
00:43like over and over and over again at work.
00:45So that's mine.
00:47That's cool.
00:49That's cool.
00:50This is such a good question, and I'm blanking on every trilogy I've ever loved.
00:55Do you want me to answer if you want to think, or do you have –
00:57Oh, yeah.
00:58It was also a saga, so like –
00:59Yeah, it could be any three movie.
01:00Oh.
01:01Yeah.
01:01Any saga?
01:02Any like –
01:03Yeah, any saga.
01:04Yeah.
01:04Oh, thank you.
01:05Okay.
01:05Go ahead.
01:06Oh, I really will always love the end of The Lord of the Rings.
01:10It's just so amazing.
01:12And I mean, I'm sure there's – I could talk about it forever, and I won't make you go through that.
01:17But I do love how Frodo has changed forever, and how he has to leave Hobbiton because he is – the ring has changed him forever.
01:27And it's such a good, bittersweet ending because it's not completely fairytale-happy, but it's like, you know, it's a little bit of both.
01:33Yeah.
01:34It's probably one of the best third movies in the history of movies, so that's right.
01:39Seriously.
01:40I completely agree, guys.
01:41I remember after watching Avengers Infinity War, my brothers were like, enough.
01:47You cannot be watching Marvel this way.
01:50And they took me through everything in order and how I needed to see it and have the whole background.
01:56And so I felt like the way Avengers Endgame and everything tied up, like, that was really satisfying and cool.
02:02And just – I had so much fun finishing the saga with my brothers and being in it with them, especially as a youngest child, being like, yay, I get to be a part of something.
02:11I think I just want to add what Jim said is really profound because it feels like an ending, but it also feels like a beginning.
02:20There's so many new characters, and I've been saying that I feel like Pandora, especially in Avatar, Fire and Ash, is cracked open threefold.
02:29Everything that we – I feel like for the fans that watched it in 2009 Avatar, when they just were waiting in line and saw it, I don't think they could have ever imagined that this is where we'd be in the story.
02:42Wow, that's beautiful.
02:43That's great, actually.
02:45Now, as I'm from Spain, of course, I have to ask you about Euna Chaplin.
02:49How is it with her?
02:51What surprised you the most about her?
02:54She's brilliant.
02:55She's so nice.
02:57She's so nice.
02:58Yes, and she plays not just a vicious character, but a really nuanced character that has so much grief, and it's really, really inspiring because I love seeing Vrong, and I love how Jim has a female, female villain.
03:15Seriously.
03:16And her scenes with Zoey are so fiery and intense.
03:23It's brilliant.
03:24Definitely.
03:25One of my favorite conversations I've had with Euna was just asking her how she got into Vrong, and her process, and just hearing how she views Vrong as a leader and the hero to her people.
03:38And how she had to think about how to adopt this leader mindset, and to have kind of scrapped everything you know as her character Vrong and move through and make your own ways, whether they're good or not.
03:51And I think that's something so cool.
03:54I think maybe, I don't know what surprised me about Euna, but just maybe everything, because I didn't have any expectations.
04:02But I just, I couldn't believe all the good times that I got to have with her because she's so kind and lovely.
04:08And I enjoy our arts and crafts, and also our scene work, because we have fun with that offset.
04:15That's beautiful.
04:16I'm going to tell her.
04:17I'm going to tell her because I'm interviewing her in Madrid, so.
04:20Oh, nice.
04:21You only said beautiful things about her.
04:24I would like to ask you, how is it a day in the set of Avatar?
04:29Because it's very different from any other sets, from movies, from TV shows, because all this technology, etc.
04:35So how is it a normal day, a regular day?
04:39I feel like, you know, I feel like it's not super different.
04:44Like, it's different in the sense that, like, you know, we're wearing all these performance capture, like, suits with dots and our face have dots, all that stuff.
04:55But then as soon as, like, you know, we do, like, the roaming, which is, like, a set of movements to, like, technically get into the system for our character.
05:04As soon as we're there on set, Jim's there, there's, like, some camera people just for, like, reference shots.
05:09But really, like, we just act.
05:11And if anything, I know everyone said it's the purest form of acting, and I really do think it is.
05:15It's very much, like, theater, and you work on a scene, and it's just you, your acting partner, and you really, I mean, it feels just like another, you know, like a normal set, if not everyone's kind of closer.
05:25And it's, like, this weird, like, creative, collaborative experience, and it's, I mean, we, I mean, but also, like, any other set in the sense, like, we had to go to school.
05:35We had, like, the best crafty guy.
05:38For those who don't know, like, crafty is, like, this on-set snack catering thing, and this, he was the best.
05:43He always had, like, so many snacks.
05:45Like, it was, yeah, it was great.
05:48It was right off stage, which also attributed, I was like, I can't eat too much because I'm in, like, this full body suit, so anything's going to show.
05:55But, yeah.
05:57Crafty felt like the place to be.
05:58You'd run into so many people.
05:59Oh, 100%, yeah.
06:01That's cool.
06:02That's really cool.
06:04I would like you to ask, to be imaginative again, because I would like to, imagine you are James Cameron.
06:10Where would you like your characters to go?
06:12Because you, I don't know if you know where this is going, but if you had total freedom, where would you like them to go?
06:20What's interesting is we do know.
06:22Well, we, Jim has shared what, you know, little snippets of what's happening to our characters in 4 and 5.
06:29Jack has read Avatar 4.
06:32You know, we don't know the title until, like, usually the month of, like, when we start doing press.
06:39But I think I'm really excited for audiences to see how Serea grows.
06:43We really see glimpses of a warrior spirit in her in Avatar, Fire, and Ash.
06:47She felt very, almost childlike and sensitive and very warm in way of water.
06:54And now we see how the war and grief has shaped her and forced her to be a leader, but while leading with kindness, which is a fine line.
07:05So I'm excited to see what is going to, I'm excited for audience to see, because I know.
07:10But for audience to see what happens years from now.
07:14Definitely.
07:15I would feel so eager and grateful to jump into Tuke and her teenage years and we'll be the same age again.
07:22And I just cannot wait to discover her in that way, because after the time jump that will happen in 4, these characters will have grown so much.
07:29And Tuke is going to step into a whole new grown-up version of herself.
07:34And in general, I feel so invested and attached to, like, these characters and these stories.
07:42So I, myself, just really want to see this beautiful saga go through all of its arcs.
07:48Yeah, it really is.
07:50I mean, it's just such an amazing, 4 was such an amazing script.
07:54And I mean, I'm not spoiling by anything by saying it's a time jump, obviously, but to see all the characters aged, especially Jake and Nateri, it's like, you know, it's like, it's, there's a sadness to it that it's like, it's just so, I don't know.
08:12It's really, it's, it's amazing.
08:14I words can't describe and words won't let me know.
08:18But it's good.
08:19It's good.
08:20Thank you very much, guys.
08:22It's been such a pleasure and congratulations again.
