00:00And right now we have a phone call, so let's go to the phone.
00:04Hello, who that?
00:05Hi, this is Francesca.
00:07Hey, Miss Francesca, thank you so very much for...
00:11Thank you for having me.
00:12Oh, I'm excited, you know.
00:14And, you know, we're going to get into everything Francesca,
00:17but first let me just tell you, your parents, I am so impressed.
00:22Whoever, you are such a wonderful young lady.
00:25I mean...
00:25Well, thank you so much.
00:27They got to be very proud of you because just, you know, reaching out to you
00:31and chatting with you, and you've just been so wonderful and polite and everything,
00:36and I can't imagine, you know, the way your things are going now for you,
00:40that much success.
00:43So do me a favor.
00:44Thank you so much.
00:45Introduce yourself proper, like, tell folks who that were you at.
00:49Okay, well, I'm Francesca Tarantino.
00:52I'm 14.
00:53I live in Orlando, and I'm originally from Pennsylvania.
00:57And I moved here when I was eight.
01:00And when I moved here, I actually started in musical theater.
01:04But then I was like, you know, this isn't really my thing anymore.
01:08And I wanted to go back to rock because I want to bring that rock,
01:12classic rock music to my generation, you know,
01:14because it's kind of slipping away.
01:16And so then I started at the studio where I'm at now,
01:20and that's where I started writing my own music and learning guitar and singing.
01:26Now, let's just go ahead and pay some respect.
01:30What studio are you at?
01:32It's called DME Orlando or Dreamwalker Music Evolution.
01:37And you just, how did you find them?
01:40You just stumbled in or like how?
01:42A friend actually recommended them to me, and I'm so glad they did
01:45because I don't know where I would be without them.
01:47And now, here's what happened is somebody had sent me a music submission.
01:56And I was typing in.
01:58I was looking for, like, more information on the artist they sent me.
02:01And I did a little typo, and one of your YouTube videos came up.
02:08And I was looking at it, and I would go, hang on, wait a minute.
02:12Let me backtrack.
02:12Let me backtrack, and it's like, this is pretty impressive, this little girl.
02:18And I was like, wait.
02:19But then I was going, oh, you know what?
02:20This is not good because it's just a bunch of YouTube videos,
02:24and I can't really hear any good quality.
02:26And then I stumbled across my runaway.
02:29Ah.
02:30And I was like, wow.
02:32This is good.
02:34So let's, and there are just so many little things about you
02:39that I want to touch base with.
02:41And I know that, you know, your music is your passion.
02:45You have this love for rock and roll.
02:48How did you get into the 80s, the classic rock, or that?
02:52Like, what was the, is it just your dad's, you know, iPod shuffle, or?
02:58Well, that's a good question.
03:00And it's pretty much all for my parents from a very young age.
03:03They were playing classic rock music in the car, playing it around the house,
03:07and I became in love with it.
03:09And actually, a funny story, when I was younger, I used to be in love with Scooby-Doo.
03:14And so my mom came home one day with a new movie, and it was Scooby-Doo meets Kiss.
03:19And so Kiss is now my favorite band in the whole wide world.
03:22Love them so much.
03:23But I became in love with the movie, started listening to them a lot,
03:28and starting to love them actually branched me off into other bands like Aerosmith
03:33and Led Zeppelin and other people like that.
03:36So they were kind of my starting point, and that's why I love them so much,
03:39because I wouldn't have the love for music if I never got into Kiss, you know?
03:43That is hilarious.
03:44I want to tell you a quick little story.
03:46I have a two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter,
03:49and I must play, I want to rock and roll all night and party every day.
03:55Yes, I always end with that one of my gigs.
03:58Probably about seven times a day.
04:00She loves that.
04:01She will run around with a, she has a toy ukulele that's her cousin's,
04:06and she will stomp her foot, and she loves that.
04:10And then she also is adorable.
04:13Yeah, and Joan Jett, I love rock and roll.
04:17Yes, those are amazing songs.
04:20I can't help but, like, imagine what's going to happen with you as far as your career,
04:26because, you know, when we play this song, people are going to be shocked that you're only 14.
04:31Thank you so much.
04:33And I thought, wow, you know what?
04:35We're so smart.
04:37We're great.
04:37We've got this 14-year-old kid who's going to come on here,
04:39and she's going to blow everybody's mind, and we'll be the first ones to do it.
04:44But you're already doing the rock star lifestyle.
04:48You've been on, like, the hard rock stage.
04:51Oh, yeah.
04:51So this is old school for you.
04:53You've been doing interviews and everything now, huh?
04:55Yeah, a little bit.
04:56I've been doing, like, Instagram lives and other stuff like that,
04:59but this isn't my first radio interview, really.
05:02Oh, really?
05:03Yeah.
05:03Well, thank you so much.
05:05We are honored that you elected to, uh...
05:07Aw, thank you for having me.
05:09Hey, I told you.
05:10I just, you know, when you see some, some, when you see talent, at least, you know, I'm this way,
05:16it's like, man, this person needs to be heard.
05:18There's not a lot of, there's not a lot of opportunity out there for people, you know,
05:23especially young people like yourself, because you're doing the school thing, right?
05:27Oh, yeah.
05:28Grades are good, huh?
05:30Grades are good.
05:32Yeah, they are.
05:33All right.
05:34So that's the most important thing.
05:36And then, uh...
05:37Exactly.
05:37You know, and you're out touring and playing?
05:39Are you, you know, where...
05:41I saw, it says, book me now.
05:43How many engagements would you say you're doing?
05:46Oof.
05:47I don't even know.
05:48Um, I do, I, I gig mainly at restaurants, and I do a lot of open mics as well.
05:54But in total, maybe like 10 a month, something like that.
05:58Um, but it's so much fun gigging.
06:01I love going out, and when people sing along with the songs, it's one of the best experiences in the world.
06:06And it's so much fun.
06:08Now, your playlist, it's, uh, all, you know, rock and roll?
06:11Do you throw any country or blues in there?
06:13Well, I have a really big variety, to be honest.
06:16It ranges all the way back in, like, the 80s, 70s, and stuff like that, and goes all the way to, like, now, 2023.
06:24I do, like, Zombie by the Cranberries, a bunch of Kiss as well.
06:27I do a couple of country songs, like some Taylor Swift.
06:31I do, um, one Reba McIntyre song, um, and some stuff like that.
06:38And I do Paramore, Miley Cyrus, and some new ones like that.
06:42Oh, and Country Roads and other ones like that.
06:44Wow.
06:4514 years old, and you have, like, this, uh, repertoire that's just so amazing.
06:52I am very impressed.
06:54I have a 21-year-old that I'd be more than happy to trade for you.
06:59Oh, my gosh.
07:04But, now, My Runaway, that's your first, you know, I guess, studio produced.
07:11Yeah, my Runaway.
07:12Are you working on something right now, or are you in the studio?
07:15What's coming out?
07:16You know, like, give us more, because I'm disappointed that all I have is just the one song.
07:22I'm sorry, but I am writing a bunch of other songs at the moment.
07:26My Runaway is actually co-written with my producer at DME Orlando, Mike Walker, and actually my brother, who helped me write the lyrics.
07:34And I'm doing some more co-writing with my brother and with Mike Walker, and writing some songs on the side just by myself.
07:41And, hopefully, in the summer, I'll have another release, and maybe by the end of the year, have two or three.
07:49Well, at 14 years old, what are you writing about?
07:52Is it, uh, I mean, you can't have had your heart broke by now.
07:56You're only 14.
07:58Um, let's see, uh, no gambling or drinking.
08:01You're only 14.
08:02Oh, no, of course not.
08:03I guess the rock is, so, uh, what would you, what, what's, what kind of, uh, music are you writing, or what do you, what do you feel yourself gravitating towards?
08:11When, when, when you're writing?
08:13You know, that's a really good question, but what I mainly write about is real-life experiences, things that I've experienced.
08:19My Runaway is about being somewhere you know you shouldn't be, and you're trying to escape, but you're worried about what other people are going to think of you.
08:26And I know people my age struggle with, like, the fact of what are other people going to think of you a lot.
08:32So I thought it would be a good song, um, for people to connect with, you know.
08:37And then another song I'm writing, which might be my next release, I'm not entirely sure yet.
08:41It's called Tragedy, and it's about losing someone you really love.
08:45So everything I write is mainly just something people can connect to, you know.
08:49I really like writing stories.
08:51Yeah, that's amazing.
08:54You know, 14 years old, and I keep bringing that up because people are not going to believe me when they hear you sing.
09:01And listen, you know, I commend you, and God bless you, and the people behind you for what you're doing because you're putting something out there from yourself.
09:11You know, talking about young people with peer pressure or doubts or fears.
09:18Yeah, I'm lucky to have them.
09:19You know, and here you are saying, you know, look, you know, if you've got to get away from something, you know, don't worry.
09:28It's going to be okay.
09:29You know, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
09:32It's, uh, and for you to pin this so early in your career, I think that, um, one of the things that I'm the most looking forward to is going to be the maturation.
09:42And, like, watching you grow, and hopefully, hopefully, when you're a big star, you please don't forget about us.
09:48I won't, I promise.
09:49You know, remember us, and just say, hey, listen, you know, oh, that's right, Redneck, he did our, yeah, I was on his show once, you know.
09:55Yes, first radio editor ever.
09:58Well, we're very grateful.
09:59Hopefully we're not to keep, you know, taking you out of school or anything like that.
10:02You know what, you can skip school one day.
10:04Oh, no, you're not.
10:04There we go.
10:05But, uh, we definitely want to get into some music.
10:07We need to get more music from you, but let's do this.
10:09You will.
10:10Let's let people know where they can find your music, you know, merch, you know, if they want album pre-sales, how, anything and everything, Francesca Tarantino.
10:20Okay.
10:21Well, social media-wise, I'm on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and my handles are at Francesca T Music.
10:28The T stands for my last name, Tarantino.
10:31It's not Francesca, because a lot of people read it like that.
10:34Um, and in my bios, there's my link tree to go to Venmo and some other places like that, and my other social media platforms.
10:42Um, I, I don't have merch yet, but hopefully something that will come in the future.
10:47And my debut single, My Runaway, is on all streaming platforms now.
10:52So if you want to go listen to that, My Runaway, Francesca Tarantino.
10:56Perfect.
10:57Now, um, before we get to this music, uh, because there's so much about you that people need to get to know.
11:03Um, this album, you know, W, I think you said it was, uh, what was it, WME?
11:10What was the...
11:12Oh, DME, yeah.
11:13DME.
11:13My studio, yeah.
11:15All right, Dream Walker, right?
11:17Um, yeah.
11:19Who's on the album?
11:20Who's playing?
11:20Are you playing any instruments?
11:22Are you, uh, uh, do you play any instruments?
11:25Or is it just, uh, you know, studio musicians?
11:28Who's behind this package?
11:30Well, on the single, it is Mike Walker, my producer, playing on the guitar.
11:35He does an amazing guitar solo in the song.
11:37It's really cool.
11:38Um, I do know how to play.
11:40Like, the rhythm guitar in the song, but I just didn't play it on, um, the single.
11:44But I do play it out when I gig and stuff like that.
11:48And I'm obviously singing on the song.
11:51And we do have a drummer from England.
11:53His name is Glenn on there.
11:55And it's, it's really cool.
11:56We all work together, and it's amazing.
11:59Well, I like it.
12:00The production on this is wonderful.
12:01And I think, uh, the thing about this is that, um, it, it's not overproduced.
12:08You still get your voice.
12:10You still get the clarity and the quality.
12:12You kind of get the essence of what you're doing.
12:14And then it just rocks.
12:15You know, it's just really, it's, it's really well done, you know.
12:20Um, and so now Pops, Papa T, is he, uh, he's a musician.
12:26I, I saw some videos of you jamming with Dad.
12:29Is that, am I, or am I mistaken?
12:31Oh, yes.
12:32I play with him all the time on guitar.
12:33We have this thing where we jam on Sundays, and we'll play, like, rhythm or something,
12:38and I'll solo on top, or we'll just play a song together.
12:41But I love jamming with him.
12:43All right.
12:44Well, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to shut up for a little bit here.
12:47And we're going to go ahead, and we're going to play, uh, My Runaway.
12:51My Runaway by Francesca Tarantino as Francesca T Music.
12:57And, uh, you can find her all over the internet.
13:00And, uh, do you mind holding on for just one second?
13:02I want to share your music with, with your fans and our listeners.
13:05Yeah, I can, of course.
13:07All right.
13:07So, ladies and gentlemen, this is My Runaway.
13:09It's the debut single from, uh, Francesca T right here on the Gumbo Ya Ya Radio Show.
13:14And, uh, has anybody played this on the radio yet?
13:17I don't think so, no.
13:18First time.
13:19So, ladies and gentlemen, this is the worldwide radio debut on the Gumbo Ya Ya Radio Show.
13:26Listen up.
13:49So, ladies and gentlemen, this is my Runaway.

13:58So, ladies and gentlemen, this is my Runaway.
14:06So, ladies and gentlemen, this is my Runaway.
14:08So, ladies and gentlemen, this is my Runaway.
14:21Oh, what are they gonna think?
14:26They turn out so quick
14:28Runnin' away
14:31Are you gonna run away?
14:39I'm here to finish the trash and people are throwin' glasses on the walls
14:44I try to check the time to see I've got thirty missing phone calls
14:51Feel people grabbin' me
14:53I wish I'd turn my way through the crowd
14:57So much I can take
14:59Might be worse than how I allow
15:02One step, three, we go in
15:06Two steps, like a party
15:09Three steps, should've been out the door
15:14Oh, it's just so hard to escape
15:19But I just gotta take
15:22Some time far away from here
15:26Oh, what are they gonna think?
15:32They turn out so quick
15:34Runnin' away
15:37I gotta run away
15:40One step, three, we go in
15:54Two steps, come back a party
15:57One step, we go in
16:03One step, we go in
16:04One step, we go in
16:06Two steps, come back a party
16:09Three steps, should've been out the door
16:14Oh, it's just so hard to escape
16:19But I just gotta take
16:22Some time far away from here
16:26Oh, what are they gonna think?
16:31They turn out so quick
16:34Runnin' away
16:36You runnin' away
16:37You runnin' away
16:38You runnin' away
16:39You runnin' away
16:40Francesca T, runnin' away
16:43My runnin' away
16:44Hey, Will, here's the best part of the song right here
16:46Let me see
16:47Listen, listen to this
16:51One step, we go in
16:53Two steps, come back a party
16:56Three steps, should've been out the door
17:04I love that
17:05So you got this right here
17:06Thank you
17:07That nice glassy ride cymbal
17:09Yeah, I love that
17:10You know, cause it kinda goes from like
17:12I don't know, it goes from rat
17:15To like Cinderella
17:18Right back into rock
17:19Yeah, mystical feeling
17:20That is really cool, man
17:22That's some great production right there
17:23Thank you so much
17:24Kudos to those guys
17:25That's the way it ought to be
17:27Now, we're probably
17:29You know, we do a ton of country music
17:31We do rock blue
17:32We do everything here on the program
17:34And you're up there for me right now
17:39This is
17:40Thank you
17:41You're in the running for favorite
17:43But I only got one song
17:44So you don't get the title yet
17:45I need more music from you
17:47Okay, you'll get there
17:49I'll get there
17:50I'll get there
17:51Are you familiar with Liliac?
17:52Can you say it one more time?
17:53Are you familiar with the band Liliac?
17:55No, I'm not
17:56Oh, whoa
17:58Alright, so I just did you a favor
18:00Okay
18:01So you gotta check out the band Liliac
18:03Liliac
18:04They're a Romanian rock group
18:05Okay
18:06They got their launch on
18:07I think America's Got Talent
18:09Or something like that
18:10And they do kind of what you're doing
18:12Okay
18:13You know, as five brothers and sisters
18:16And they're writing their own music and things now
18:18And they're amazing
18:20And they're amazing
18:21I am afraid because my granddaughters both love them
18:26Oh, that's cool
18:27That if I play your music
18:28That they're gonna have a new favorite
18:30But yeah, this is
18:33When I was listening to this
18:34I was thinking
18:35Oh my gosh, you know
18:36If Liliac is doing what they're doing
18:39This girl's gonna have great success
18:41Thank you so much
18:43So, are you gonna, like, just go hardcore
18:50And put something out right away
18:52Or is there, you know, a process for you
18:55You know, is there some mentor
18:58Like, what is really, like, your game plan now
19:02Now that this is out
19:03You know, you just got radio airplay
19:06And you're, like, the biggest thing in your backyard right now
19:09What is the game plan for Francesca Tarantino?
19:14Well, I'm gonna keep practicing
19:16And keep writing my own music, of course
19:18And keep going through that process
19:20But hopefully in the summer
19:22I will have song release number two out
19:24So I'm excited for that around that time
19:27And then just keep releasing more songs
19:29You know, keep everyone engaged
19:31And keep singing and practicing
19:33And playing guitar and gigging
19:34Alright, so I want people to get out and see you
19:37And hear you
19:38Where is your next public event where they can see you?
19:41My next event, next Thursday
19:44From, I think, six to nine
19:47I'm at a place called Bloodhound Brewery in Orlando
19:50And I've been open mics there before
19:52And this is my first actual gig there
19:54And I love it there
19:55Everybody's so nice
19:56So if you're in the Orlando area
19:58And you wanna come have a good bite to eat and hang out
20:00Come on out and say hi
20:02And what time is that again?
20:03Six to nine
20:05Six to nine
20:06And lastly, before I let you go
20:08Is you're doing these shows
20:10Are you using backing tracks?
20:12Or do you have somebody accompanying you?
20:14Are there band members?
20:15Let's mind our manners
20:16And give, you know, proper shout outs
20:18Where do?
20:19Alright, so normally
20:21I'm playing by myself
20:22And I just
20:23Play good the
20:24Excuse me
20:25The guitar
20:26There we go
20:27And I just sing along
20:28Sometimes I actually
20:30Loop
20:32I can loop some rhythm chords
20:33While I'm playing up on stage
20:34And then solo on top
20:35So it sounds like really cool
20:36I do that with Hotel California
20:38And there's some other times
20:40Through DME
20:42We have these gigs
20:43Like holiday showcases
20:44Stuff like that
20:45Where I play with the band
20:47Alright
20:49Well listen
20:51Thank you so much
20:52I wish we had more music for you
20:54We're coming over to the top of the hour
20:55We're gonna
20:56We're gonna let you go
20:57Please extend our gratitude
20:59To DME Orlando
21:02I will
21:03Mama and Papati
21:04For allowing us to

21:55Alright
21:56We'll spread the word
21:57Thank you Miss Francesca
21:58Thank you so much
21:59Alright
22:00Bye bye
22:01Have a good one
22:02So now
22:03How impressive is that little girl
22:04Very
22:05I would say
22:06With the quality of that music
22:07I mean
22:08The production
22:09The songwriting
22:10The performance especially
22:12Is quite surprising
22:13From someone that young
22:14I know
22:15And I keep bringing up the fact
22:16She's 14
22:17But she's only 14
22:18Right
22:19Well yeah
22:20It's definitely worth noting
22:21Given the quality of the music
22:22That's able to come out from that
22:24And you know
22:25I think you know
22:26Back in
22:27That's kind of always been the trend
22:30As we get older
22:31We get we're more impressed
22:32With the fact that you know
22:34That younger people can do things
22:36Yeah yeah
22:37Look at him he's eating
22:38Yeah you know
22:39Mashed potatoes all by himself
22:40Yeah
22:41But you know
22:43I mean
22:44If you look back at Frankie Lyman
22:45And the teenagers
22:46And you look at you know
22:47Alva starting out
22:49You know
22:50I mean I guess that was always the way
22:51But
22:52It's the greatest time to do it though
22:54Because your brain is still able
22:55To absorb more and more information
22:57So your craft just gets better and better
22:58Faster and faster
22:59And you get more efficient faster
23:01I think at least
23:02Yeah I believe
23:03You know
23:04I think that's a lot of it
23:05You know
23:06You had the retention is there
23:07Right
23:08The dexterity
23:09You know
23:10All that kind of stuff
23:11But
23:12It was stupid luck
23:13That I ran across this young lady
23:14And
23:15I'm going to tell you what
23:16It was
23:17It's great for us
23:18Because
23:19I mean
23:20So many people have already commented
23:21And
23:22Posted
23:26I just
23:27Like
23:28I'm excited
23:29I'm excited for her
23:30It's funny
23:31You're excited for
23:32Never met her
23:33Don't know her
23:34You know
23:35But she's just so
23:36I mean
23:37Just so nice
23:38And just so sweet
23:39And
23:40You can't
23:41Like
23:42If you follow
23:43If you go to
23:44Francesca T Music
23:45And you look at
23:46What's going on around her
23:47She's making a
23:48You know
23:49A hell of a buzz
23:50How did you say you found her?
23:51A spelling error?
23:52Yeah
23:53A grammatical error?
23:54Yeah a typo
23:55A typo
23:56And it wasn't even a typo
23:57You know how
23:58When you're typing on the
23:59Like my
24:00My keyboard has the
24:01The mouse pad
24:02In the
24:03Little square
24:04Yeah yeah yeah
24:05And my hand
24:06Must have slid across it
24:07Or something
24:08And opened up
24:09You know
24:10Another window
24:11You know
24:12And there it was
24:13So it was fate
24:14It was fortuosity
24:15As they would say
24:16But
24:17So ladies and gentlemen
24:18That was the worldwide radio debut
24:19Of my runaway
24:20Francesca Tarantino
24:21Find her at
24:22Francesca T Music
24:24And
24:25Check it out
24:26She's got some new stuff
24:27Coming up hopefully in the summer
24:28And we'll be chatting with her
24:29Some more
24:30In the meantime
24:31We got about five minutes
24:32To the top of the hour
24:33So let's squeeze in
24:34One more song
24:35And then
24:36We'll take
24:39We'll take our top of the hour break
24:40And we'll come back
24:41And
