Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has emphasised that the Shah Alam LRT Line, formerly known as LRT3, will only open once every safety requirement is fully met.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday (Dec 10), Prasarana president and group chief executive officer Amir Hamdan said the project is currently in the testing and commissioning (T&C) phase, which involves several critical stages, including the trial run, fault-free run (FFR) and trial operations.

Meanwhile, project director Patrick Hwang said the main train, known as the “Golden Train”, has achieved its target, while three others have passed 3,000km, marking steady progress toward regulated safety and fleet readiness.

00:00During the past two and a half months when we do the testing, we have found that the
00:08signaling software instability and then we encountered 33 error and glitches
00:12during rigorous testing cycle which mainly are software-related. We do have
00:17some of it is a hardware-related by the SCRRC as well. Specific issue like the
00:23train failed to dot accurately at the station platforms, the train unable to
00:27depart from the station platforms that require interventions from the OCCs or
00:34train though unable to open automatically and require OCC interventions. The above
00:40glitches happened once in a while only when the train had accumulated maybe
00:44more than 1,000 km or sometimes even more than 2,000 km. But these glitches will
00:49require a particular train mileage to be reset zero for the FFR. That means if
00:54this glitches happens, that train under the FFR testing had to reset zero and we
00:59will rerun that again. Therefore the signal software at the moment is still quite
01:04unstable and require further enhancement to meet the operational reliability standards.
01:09As for today, we have completed the first golden train that achieved the 4,000 km
01:14requirements. An additional three trains also have achieved 3,000 km and reflected the
01:21steady progress in the meeting, the regulator mileage standard and overall the fleet readiness.
01:26The authorities have prioritised the stress testing in order to have a safe and reliable rail system.
01:31And we have enhanced the testing scope. The tests will now be conducted with a higher intensity
01:37over a longer period and this includes most stringent inspections of all LRT3 systems including
01:43safety feature and individual trains functionalities. The objective is to identify this potential issue early and prevent any
01:51failure after the system we open to public. Because if let's say the train door not open
01:56at the platform that car, it is quite inconvenient to the public when it opens the things. Even though it
02:00happened once in a while. That's what all these things we try to flush it up during all this rigorous
02:05testing at this moment.

02:56What we are doing now when we do the testing for the software itself, I think it requires us to run a long period of time, long period of kilometers of mileage for the train itself in order for us to identify what is the problem we deserve.
03:12A lot of times when we just run that says 100 kilometers or 200 kilometers, we encounter there's no problems to it. There's no issue. The door can open, it can stop accurately by that.
03:22But when we do this for 2,000 kilometers, especially the golden train of 4,000 kilometers itself, then it may happen once when we reach 2,000 kilometers, that the door don't open, it don't stop accurately by that.
03:35These are all these minor glitches in the software bugs that have to be identified and have to be done that are resolved by issuing the software patch itself in order to address this matter.
03:47But without running the train to this extensive testing, we're not able to identify this problem because when it should happen like the door open, then we will have the train data log instead to analyze what really went wrong over here.
04:00Why only this occasion happens, but most of the time it don't happen at all.
04:04And this data is collected throughout this period of time. And I think at this stage, like we say that we have successfully completed the golden train of 4,000 kilometers, that means a lot of these issues have been resolved.
04:17Now we may still have one or two coming in and we believe we are at the right track to get all this resolved and to get all these treating problems, treating issues of the software to be resolved as well.
04:27Of course, we have a full commitment, full support from the signals, from our CRRC as well, in order to help us to achieve all this.
04:35Who is actually responsible for the much delayed LRT during out of all these involved parties? And would it eventually increase the cost of the construction of the LRT?
04:50I can answer on the second part in terms of the cost. Since this is a turnkey project, so it's actually fixed cost. So on our side, as perasaanlah, there won't be any additional cost.

05:22In total, we have planned the two trend sets to go through all the FFR, the FFR, the FFR run test, and we have, like I said, we have achieved a golden trend 4,000,
05:31we have achieved another three set for 3,000, and we still have a balanced adding set to both that is currently ongoing on the run and to accumulate the mileage that each individual trend is run independently
05:42and then, all the things have to address it accordingly. At the moment, it's still ongoing. We expect things should, and at the same time, try to resolve with the regular testing accounting,
05:52we're hopefully that by end of January, we should be completing all the trend set of the FFR testing mode.
05:58So, adakah, tadi kan, ada pedalahan Januari akan ada ke dalam istian media? Adakah 23 itu tadi kan ni cuba diselesaikan sebelum pedalahan Januari, kalau boleh dapat mahasisian?
06:10As for today, 33 that we identified the last two and a half months, that 33, in fact, we have a solution to that already.
06:18Most of it have been resolved and that the software patch been done, but after every software been resolved by the software patch,
06:26we still need to continue to do the testing to monitor whether the solution, the patch itself is reliable or not.
06:34And that is a process we are doing now. And at the moment, our record, all these 33 methods, we have resolved it and that is a good solution to that happy address as well.
06:42But we still need to go through that rigorous testing to prove that our solution of patch itself works.
06:47As Patrick mentioned just now, based on our initial target, based on the everything goes well, as per timeline, so normally we have dedicated or kind of like a timeline for every stage.
07:01So this is also referring to our previous project like MRT, Prajaya, Kajian Line. So based on that, I think it's actually consistent with the initial target.
07:11So, but it's just that because of all these glitches that we discovered during the FFR of which, you know, we did not initially anticipate.
07:22So hence, the initial reference to visit has been postponed to a later date.
07:30So it's not considered as not inconsistent or inconsistent because we have been updating Minister on weekly basis on the status of the project.
