The Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line is nearing completion, with its final batch of train sets set to undergo mandatory Fault-Free Run (FFR) testing in the coming weeks, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Meanwhile, Loke acknowledged ongoing disruptions on the ageing Kelana Jaya Line, as recent technical faults caused service delays during peak hours.

00:00All right, all right.
00:07So that we want to encourage...
00:10Two days ago, it was mentioned that LRT3 will launch by two...
00:13Yeah.
00:13By then yesterday, we got two major breakdowns in LRT, the Kilimanjaya Line.
00:17So are we still on track to launch LRT3 and are we watching into it?
00:21And can our committees be assured that plugging a new line
00:25won't put too much strain in ongoing LRT services?
00:28There are two separate issues.
00:30Of course, Kilimanjaya Line, there are some issues.
00:33In the past few days, Kilimanjaya Line has of course is an aging system.
00:39We are trying our level best to mitigate and to minimize disruption for Kilimanjaya Line.
00:45Of course, I am summoning Prasarana CEO to report to the Ministry
00:51before this Friday, by this Friday, what's happening in LRT Kilimanjaya Line.
00:57On LRT3, LRT3 has various platform I have mentioned that the targeted date right now is June.
01:08But we hope that we can start operation even before June.
01:14Maybe as early as April or May.
01:18Because the systems are ready.
01:19What is the final phase of it is the FFR, the Ford Free Run for all trains.
01:27The Ford Free Runs for all trains are one of the most critical tests before a system can go live.
01:34Because this will ensure that the systems are perfect.
01:39The systems are, you know, without any fault for a certain period of time.
01:45Because the Ford Free test is the compulsory for all trains.
01:52And this is something that we cannot skip.
01:54So if there are any fault during the test, then I have to reset to zero kilometer again.
02:00So it has to run up to four thousand kilometers per train.
02:04And before it can be considered as Ford Free.
02:08So that is ongoing right now.
02:10The final batch of another eight sets of six car sets are undergoing FFR in the next couple of weeks.
02:21So hopefully once that is done, then by April we are quite confident whether or not we can open the
02:27line by April.
02:29So our targeted date is still June.
02:32But we try to bring it forward.
