00:00How in the world would they bring those things out here and just dump them?
00:14We're catching mountain goats.
00:16Identify animals that may be carrying pathogens, impacting the herd.
00:20I'm seeing two hunters have a set of decoys up in the water.
00:24We're out of game, Morton.
00:25How are you guys doing today?
00:26When you pull away from a camp, you don't know if he's coming out with a gun.
00:32You want to get them cool as fast as possible to limit the number of cells that are going to die.
00:37I don't know why they would cut the heads off and just leave the rest of them out here.
00:41It's just beyond me.
00:44Nevada, a land of extremes.
00:49From the strip to the summits, it's wild country.
00:52Home to more than 900 species and a way of life worth protecting.
00:59Preserved for the people and the wildlife that call it home.
01:03One team stands guard.
01:06This is Nevada Wild.
01:10This hunter is hunting this lower section.
01:28So what I'm going to do is go kind of hide in the brush down there and just spend some time watching them.
01:36A few more birds that are going to be able to harvest and see what I come up with.
01:42My name is John Anderson.
01:43I'm a game Morton with the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
01:45I have two wildlife management areas in Lincoln County that have a lot of duck hunting.
01:51They hunt geese, Canadian geese, snow geese.
01:55I'm seeing two hunters that are, they have a set of decoys up in the water.
02:02And then they're hunting from a blind that's up on shore.
02:04So I'm going to see how close we can get without getting exposed and maintaining kind of a covert presence.
02:13Waterfowl hunting is one of the most regulated activities you can participate in.
02:20This is about as close as I want to get.
02:23Be able to see everything from right here.
02:25We say when you can do it.
02:28There's different species that you can take different numbers of ducks.
02:32There's different types of weapons you can and can't use.
02:35Different shot you can and can't use.
02:38And I as a game warden really have to understand those laws as well.
02:42Because they're not simple.
02:44So I've been watching them here for a little while.
02:47Not much action this morning.
02:48Not much birds flying around.
02:50I'm just going to go over and make contact with them.
02:56So I couldn't tell from up there.
02:58But they actually are on the island.
03:01So I'm going to have to throw my waders on to go out to talk to them.
03:04So we got some birds flying around now.
03:23How you guys doing today?
03:46How you good?
03:47Nevada game warden.
03:48I'm just going to come and talk to you guys real quick, OK?
04:04Out here is usually really good fishing.
04:07You'll see guys usually catch 3 to 5 pound trout out here,
04:1225, 26, 27 inches long.
04:15So I mean, really, really good trout fishing.
04:18I might take a walk down here and check and see if this guy's fishing.
04:31Just randomly parked off the side of the road,
04:33and nobody down here fishing, I guess.
04:36Be a good spot to be fishing.
04:41This is Nick.
04:42Nick, it's Nat.
04:43Hey, what's happening?
04:44Danny Alexander of South Fork.
04:47I was walking this dog.
04:48He followed some ATV tracks that caught through a field.
04:50And he says that he saw two elk with their heads cut off.
04:54And I said, like, are they fresh?
04:56He says, yeah, they're fresh.
04:58Like, we're talking super fresh.
04:59So.
05:00Right.
05:01Yeah, no, I'm out here at South Fork right now, Nat.
05:03So yeah, if you wouldn't mind texting it to me.
05:06All right.
05:06Bye bye.
05:07Bye.
05:08She was saying that the caller said that it sounds like there's two elk with their heads cut off.
05:13So I got the address.
05:14I'm just going to head over there now and meet up with this guy and find out where these carcasses are at.
05:19I'm calling about the carcasses that you found.
05:31Would you mind if I came over to your house and talk to you about that?
05:34I'll take you over there and show you where it's at.
05:37OK.
05:37That sounds good, Danny.
05:38I appreciate it, and I'll see you there here in a few.
05:50Nevada game, Warden.
05:51I'm just going to come and talk to you guys real quick, OK?
05:54I saw you got one already.
05:55Yeah, that was the first one I got to get out today, and I got it.
05:59Nice.
06:00Where are you guys from?
06:01Oh, Vegas.
06:02Yeah.
06:02Cool.
06:03Just up for the day?
06:04Yeah.
06:05So if a bird does start coming in while I'm talking
06:08to you guys, just let me know that you're going to shoot before you shoot, OK?
06:10OK, cool.
06:11And then I'll get down, and you guys can keep hunting.
06:13That's super cool.
06:15See, I'll just see you guys' licenses, and then I'll check your guns.
06:18Yes, sir.
06:19Do you know what kind of bird you got there?
06:22Possibly a scop?
06:23Yeah.
06:24Yep, it's a scop.
06:26This is both of our first seasons duck hunting, really hunting in general.
06:30Been enjoying it, man.
06:31Yeah, it's a good way to get out and enjoy the natural world, you know?
06:36Oh, yeah, absolutely.
06:38And then can I see the ammo you guys are using and your shotguns?
06:41Oh, yeah.
06:41Yes, sir.
06:42OK.
06:44Can I see your shotgun, sir?
06:46Is it plugged?
06:47It is, yes.
06:48OK.
06:49A lot of shotguns can hold three, four, five, six, seven, so that plug keeps it so they can only have
06:56three, which gives the ducks a fighting chance as they're flying away.
07:01So there's two in the magazine and none in the chamber.
07:04Correct.
07:05If they only have three shots, they have a really hard time taking an over limit if they haven't
07:10properly identified that group of ducks that's flying in.
07:14Cool.
07:15All three of these shotguns are plugged correctly and you guys got everything.
07:19You got one bird.
07:19Yeah.
07:20The morning's young.
07:21There's a duck coming.
07:24Oh, here we go.
07:24I'm going to call him in.
07:30Yeah, it's probably not going to help that I'm here right now.
07:33No worries.
07:33Thanks for being cooperative.
07:35Yeah.
07:35You guys are the kind of guys I love checking in the field.
07:43It's always refreshing when you make contact with a group of hunters.
07:47They got their plug shotguns.
07:49They got their licenses, their stamps, and they're really cordial.
07:53That's always a great experience to check a group of hunters like that.
07:58So we're going to head down to Nesbitt.
08:02From what it sounded like, there was a lot more shooting going on down there.
08:09Hello, it's Anderson.
08:10This is Tyler Eaton.
08:11How you doing?
08:12Tyler, what's going on?
08:13Well, up there behind my place, there's a
08:16door with the front leg completely useless.
08:19Swinging like a compound fracture?
08:22It's flopping around.
08:24OK.
08:26OK, well, I'm down in Key Pippen right now.
08:28Before I get there, could you try to find her and determine her health situation,
08:33and we'll go from there.
08:36Thanks, Tyler.
08:38This is one of my neighbors.
08:40Sounds like she's struggling pretty good in the town of Panaka.
08:43She's got a broken leg and isn't getting around very well.
08:46So go see what's going on with that.
08:49We got about an hour up there.
08:58Well, I'm going to meet up with the reporting party out here in South Fork.
09:02I'm going to talk to him to find out where these carcasses are at.
09:19How we doing?
09:20It's Nick Brunson.
09:21OK.
09:25Go out here.
09:26You can probably take this over there to the edge of the sagebrush,
09:29and then we can just walk it if you want.
09:31OK.
09:36Yeah, I saw this this morning, and I said,
09:38I've got to call you guys because it's relatively fresh.
09:41Right.
09:42Those ATV tracks went there a couple of days ago.
09:44That's why when I saw them today, I thought the guy was out there fooling around.
09:48Right.
09:49Until he got a little bit deeper in the sagebrush,
09:52and I thought, that's kind of strange.
09:54You can see where they're through.
09:55Yeah, you can see where it looks like they drug something.
09:58Yeah.
09:58Out through there.
10:00I'm guessing that's what the birds are flying for.
10:02Yeah, it probably is.
10:15Boy, they definitely were dragging something.
10:17It looks like they made a couple of different little loops out here.
10:22If somebody did kill these elk and just cut the heads off and leave the rest of them out there,
10:27I mean, that's a pretty big thing.
10:28I mean, you could go all the way up to felony unlawful harvest of a big game animal.
10:32You're absolutely right.
10:38There they be.
10:40Why in the world would they bring those things out here and just dump them?
10:46It looks like cattle, like cow cows, moo cows.
10:58These elk, they're regular livestock cows.
11:00They're somebody's cows decapitated and just left sitting out here.
11:03I don't know why they would cut the heads off and just leave the rest of them out here.
11:08Yeah.
11:09It's just beyond me.
11:11Do you know anybody from right out here in Lucky Nugget that has?
11:14That has cows?
11:16A guy by over there, Mike, runs them, but they're over in Lee.
11:18Right.
11:20If I told Mike about this, he'd probably go ballistic.
11:23Uh, yeah.
11:24I think most of the cattle ranchers probably would.
11:27I don't know if this was the landowner, but they're still around here.
11:31I don't know if this was the landowner,
11:32but I'm going to go to the water that I'm going to go for.
11:35But it's just beyond me.
11:36It's just beyond me.
11:37Do you know anybody from right out here in Lucky Nugget that has?
11:40That has cows?
11:42A guy by over there, Mike, runs them, but they're over in Lee.
11:46Right.
11:47If I told Mike about this, he'd probably go ballistic.
11:48Maybe these cows died of natural causes
11:50and they just brought them out here to get rid of them.
11:53Or this could be somebody shooting somebody's livestock
11:56and bringing them out here and cutting the heads off.
11:59It's a violation of the state.
12:01There's a pasture down here.
12:02Uh-huh.
12:03It's 640 acres.
12:06It's all fenced off.
12:07Mike uses that in the summertime to run cows.
12:11But he doesn't use it now.
12:12Right.
12:13There's nothing on it now.
12:14I'm wondering if these are ones that people had had
12:16or any of the houses or anything like that around here.
12:20It would have to be something relatively close
12:22to drag them all the way out this way.
12:24What it looks like to me is somebody's livestock
12:28and they just decided to decapitate them
12:30and bring them out here.
12:31So you would figure that they would,
12:34if they were going to be killing them,
12:35that they'd be butchering them.
12:37You would think so, unless they got some kind of...
12:40Right, unless they got sick of some sort.
12:43That one looks like it could have been.
12:44That one, yeah, that one definitely
12:46looks like it could have been.
12:47But I mean, you can even see that, you know,
12:49the hooves, how long those things are.
12:53They definitely didn't spend a whole lot of time
12:58out in the wide open
12:59because they would have wore those things down.
13:01That one's toes definitely are long.
13:04One of these cows is very malnourished.
13:06If they're not feeding these animals,
13:08that's a complete violation of the law.
13:11That's animal cruelty.
13:12Unless, like you say, unless they were,
13:14had some sort of disease,
13:16and they just ended up dying.
13:19But why would they cut the heads off?
13:21Yeah.
13:23Maybe, maybe yard ornaments?
13:25I don't know.
13:27Well, I'll give you a ride back over to your house,
13:29and then I'll come back over this way and...
13:31Actually, if you just want to get to work,
13:33it won't hurt me to walk.
13:34Are you sure?
13:35I walk that far every day.
13:37I certainly appreciate it.
13:38You bet.
13:39It's pretty disturbing.
13:40It doesn't matter if it's wildlife or livestock.
13:44With this being livestock,
13:47it's not so much a Department of Wildlife matter.
13:50It's going to be more of a Department of Agriculture thing.
13:53I'm going to collect everything that I can off of these animals,
13:56follow some of the evidence,
13:57see if it can lead me to where, potentially,
13:59these animals came from,
14:00to be able to give the Department of Ag
14:02so that they can further their investigation.
14:05I mean, to me, it looks like it was potentially
14:07two rope and steers.
14:08I can tell that they're males.
14:09May have horns.
14:11And that's why they cut the heads off.
14:13I mean, you can't even see any brands on any of them.
14:16It's one of the first things that I would be looking for
14:18is a brand.
14:24When I was coming up here on that street,
14:26it almost looked like there was drag marks on that road.
14:28I don't know.
14:29To me, like I say, it's pretty disturbing.
14:31It would be nice to find out the reason why.
14:43I just got a deer.
14:45It's got a broken leg, and it's wandering around.
14:48Every single week, I have to put a deer down
14:51in one of these towns because people are feeding them,
14:55because they're bringing them in.
14:56They have that food source.
15:01How's it going, Nathan?
15:02Not too bad.
15:04He said it looked like she was trying to jump the fence
15:06and go in behind the Andersons.
15:08OK.
15:09I'm going to hike around, just walk around the alfalfa field,
15:12and then go in behind the Andersons
15:13and see if I can scare her out.
15:15Did they say what kind of injury it looked like?
15:16Yeah, she had a broken leg, and I guess it was swinging
15:19and possibly compound fracture.
15:22OK.
15:23All right.
15:23Yep.
15:24Appreciate your help.
15:25Yep.
15:30I work with the local law enforcement closer
15:32than I do other game wardens, because they're
15:34three hours away.
15:36They can assist me on stuff like this.
15:37I'm their backup.
15:42So this is our reporting party's house.
15:46So I'm actually going to stop and start hiking around.
15:58If it needs to be euthanized, then, you know,
16:00that's part of what we do.
16:02This human-wildlife interaction is not good for these deer.
16:08So people feed these deer, bring them into town,
16:10and think they're helping them out.
16:11And then they try to jump a fence and get their leg caught
16:14and snap it in half, which is more than likely what happened here.
16:30So it looks like she's not over here.
16:31We're going to head over across the street.
16:37Yeah, he made it sound like she was leaving this field here
16:42and trying to cross this fence and couldn't get across it.
16:48So she could be back in here.
17:06So I got a deer right here.
17:09It looked like she was headed that way.
17:11It's not too much of a struggle.
17:17The deer, it ran away from me, which is a really good thing.
17:20Its health is at a level where it can avoid things
17:24that it doesn't like, as in me.
17:26So that's a really good sign.
17:28If it can get around this well,
17:30maybe it's not one we put down yet.
17:33Or, you know, maybe it happened really recently and it hasn't had
17:38the negative effects on its body condition yet.
17:42So that's kind of a tricky situation.
17:44Do you let that take effect on its body and waste away to a really sick animal?
17:51Or do you put it out of its misery while it's still in a relatively good body condition?
17:56I feel comfortable leaving this situation.
18:01I can keep track of it over the next week or so.
18:04But for right now, I'm fine with leaving this deer alone and seeing what it does.
18:09I'm going to continue to follow these tracks down and see if I can talk to any of these houses here and see if maybe they seen anybody bringing those carcasses up here.
18:20I mean, you can kind of see where the gravel's been moved and you can kind of see somewhat of a directionality there.
18:50I don't see any of the move.
18:57See if these people will tell me if they've seen anything or not.
19:10How are we doing?
19:10Stay game, Morton.
19:12Did you happen to see a four-wheeler or side-by-side or anything like that last night dragging a cow up the road at all?
19:20Well, I thought I heard a bike.
19:23You guys go by here on four-wheelers.
19:25All the time, I'm sure.
19:27Yeah, it was dark.
19:28Do you know of anybody that has cows out over in here?
19:31I hear they had some cows.
19:32I saw a couple of cows over here the other day.
19:35Like a red one and a dark brown one?
19:38Well, yeah, red.
19:39Like a her fruit.
19:40Uh-huh.
19:41Yeah.
19:42Well, I certainly appreciate it.
19:45So at least I know the deer come into this guy's yard.
19:53And then he said that some folks kind of across the draw from him had cows.
20:00Coming from over there, I guess I'll see where the drag marks take me.
20:08Now I'm following the drag marks down to here.
20:11Maybe these folks can shed some light on your dead cows because it kind of looks like the drag marks right here, even.
20:23There's two four-wheelers.
20:24Even the four-wheeler has the same tire tracks, which could explain why that guy hurt, too.
20:33There we are.
20:38Pretty sure I got cow heads.
20:51Pretty sure I got cow heads.
20:56Really fresh, too.
20:58They definitely came from here.
21:03And it looks like a side-by-side parked right over here in the shed.
21:17It could be that these things potentially died of natural causes, and they just drug them out there to dispose of them and just cut the heads off.
21:25I don't know why, or whether they, you know, were malnourished.
21:29All those different things could weigh in, and we could potentially have some sort of violation.
21:40Nobody was home.
21:41I don't know if that's just because they don't want to come to the door.
21:45But I'll take the information that I have, give that to the Department of Ag.
21:52And if they need my help, I can come down and help them do interviews on these folks and figure out what's going on with these cows.
21:58We're going to do a nasal swab.
22:00We're going to also do a tonsil swab.
22:05You may want to underline them if it's a good idea.
22:06We're, we're, we're catching mountain goats.
22:07We're going to, uh, try to identify animals that may be carrying pathogens that, uh, are impacting the herd.
22:08And, uh, survival of the kids.
22:09And then we're going to use that.
22:10We're, we're going to, uh, try to, uh, try to identify animals that may be carrying pathogens that, uh, are impacting the herd and, uh, survival of the kids.
22:33are impacting the herd and survival of the kids so we need to get kids recruited
22:41to replace these aging aging population of mountain goats but it's a gorgeous
22:46mountain it's great great mountain goat habitat Nate what are what's what we're
22:54gonna put on board the animals just Draxon? Draxon and Vanamine. My name is
22:59Nate LaHue we're doing several big game captures and I'm providing the veterinary
23:02support for that the disease of concern that we're looking for today is what we
23:07call mycoplasma ovale pneumoniae or MOV for short and that's the disease that
23:13causes these pneumonia outbreaks because they're aging out because we can't bring
23:18in new animals because they're not a native species this is really our only
23:21opportunity to preserve the herd
23:26so just a quick rundown of why we're here the East Humboldts experienced
23:32disease event back in 2009 2010 the kid kids were dying a month or two after
23:40birth so this population is slowly went from 160 and just kept on 120 180 60 and
23:49now we're probably in the 40 range we're sampling animals through the blood
23:55through the nasal swab and the tonsil swab to determine who has what pathogens so
24:02we're hoping to turn this herd around
24:04mountain goats they are definitely an incredibly unique animal they're adapted to these high alpine
24:26environments and so their ability to kind of survive and thrive in difficult terrain is pretty amazing
24:36capture crew up on the mountain is trying to get these animals and chase them for the minimum time possible
24:42we don't like them chased any more than two minutes they're running for longer that they're down they're hobbled
24:50there's going to be some constriction of blood flow and all of that is going to increase stress and
24:56increase the chance that they're going to get what we call capture myopathy
25:09there's a lot of different forms of capture myopathy but a severe case can result in death that's one of our biggest concerns
25:17concerns
25:31when they come into the base camp important is the loading and unloading of the animals from the helicopter
25:36oh man that's awesome we have five stations to accommodate up to five animals brought in slung underneath the helicopter we have a way station
25:54we have a team of people that will be dedicated to each of those tables this capture base camp is truly a base camp
26:01so we put the blindfold on to help keep her calm decrease the amount of sensory information that she's getting our main role in these captures is monitoring the health of the animal taking biological samples
26:19got it release he's a big boy we're monitoring temperature we're monitoring heart weight if the temperature is high we may put in a catheter give fluids get the animal cool
26:34obviously if you have any wounds any injuries we would deal with those
26:38we're monitoring the temperature the biggest concern is if they get too hot capture myopathy it's uh
26:45fortunately fairly common in undulates from basically overheating and over muscle use if they were too high
26:52like over 104 we give them oxygen maybe IV fluids depending on how hot they are
26:57over 105.8 degrees Fahrenheit cells start dying we want to get them cool as fast as possible to limit the number of cells that are going to die and that is going to increase their chances of recovering
27:12101.9 okay that's a perfect temperature for her
27:16so right now i'm just trying to get some blood it's a bit challenging to find these veins when they got their nice winter coats you can see how they have these long guard hairs and then underneath all this really fine stuff that undercoat is what really keeps them warm
27:37this first this first i'm just going to check her for any injuries um all her legs lance here is going to find a little spot without much hair to see if we can get an ultrasound probe on her and see if she's pregnant
27:51no wounds on the other side right guys no blood we got blood up here at the horns
28:07we got a big hole of some sort potentially a juvenile oh looks like you probably got a fish
28:19i love that that makes me happy i love seeing people catch fish
28:25my name is zach bowman i'm a game warden for the san nevada been patrolling for about three years i'm in
28:32in winni mucket right now i grew up hunting and fishing and outdoor stuff dirt bike riding camping
28:38and so always wanted to be in law enforcement and i figured this is kind of the best of both worlds
28:43in the highs what do you got
28:49oh really yeah so you just caught it with your hands
28:55okay do me a favor go ahead and put it back in the water let's see do you do you want to take it
28:59home or are you not taking fish home okay
29:03ah it doesn't look like he's doing very good i think he's going to end up dying
29:08how old are you uh 13. okay do you have your fishing license yes sir that's awesome
29:14brother and sister yes sir awesome jacob you got your junior license expires in may of this year okay
29:20make sure you keep paying attention to that we're coming up we got about three more months
29:24all right did you get to hunt at all last year yes yeah what'd you hunt for a deer when i got it
29:29you did yeah what'd you get a doe doe yeah congratulations is that your first deer yes
29:35oh dude that's so cool heck yeah you feel good about that yeah yeah what'd you kill it with
29:41uh 270. 270 how far roughly 100 yards okay that's a good shot awesome okay have fun guys thank you
29:49thank you don't worry about him i'm going to come back this afternoon and i'll take him out of the
29:54water okay i love it it makes me so happy that's our future that's why i'm doing this i hope that my
30:05contact with them leaves an impact on them you know knowing that hey he he cares about what i'm doing
30:12as an outdoorsman so i definitely have a stake in this so we're rolling into uh chimney reservoir which
30:25is a body of water up in northern nevada got a camp here with a gentleman walking around so we'll go
30:33chat with him see what's going on even if he's not fishing it's nice to just introduce yourself
30:39maybe he saw something that he can't tell anyone else because maybe there's no cell service here or
30:45he can't get out so we're going to roll up and make contact right now
30:52a few fishing poles doesn't look like any are in the water right now but we'll go see how his luck is i've
30:57haven't checked a whole lot of people with luck here so it's always exciting to see what's going on
31:02up up what are you doing hi pups oh look at you
31:12how are you good how's the fishing terrible is it no bites nothing how long you been here
31:18two days two days we fished early yesterday but the wind was so bad was it okay no luck huh no not
31:25not a thing bummer dang it who all is fishing my wife and my my grandson my older grandson okay you
31:31fishing too yes okay cool um well i'll go ahead and check licenses then okay let me grab one
31:39hi guys how are you good are you having fun yeah good okay awesome thank you all right you're
31:47oh that's my hunting fishing life yes it is you just got it too huh right before this trip
31:53of course you're good for a year um there you go cool thanks boss that's mine and his also okay
31:59you're good you got about another month yeah well i appreciate it sir good luck to you yeah
32:05so real cordial obviously doesn't seem to be a threat but when you pull away from a camp you don't
32:18know the interaction and you know what's going on inside that trailer right now so pulling away you
32:24kind of want to keep them in your line of sight still i'm watching in my mirror right now so i want
32:28to make sure that no one's coming out waving me down maybe he's got another question or maybe he's coming
32:33out with a gun you know always got to be cognizant of that kind of thing it's like any other law
32:38enforcement job you never know what's going to happen around the next corner
32:56we got blood up here at the horns just a little bit at the base small laceration i don't we can
33:03clean that up with a little bit of chlorhexidine okay all right so we're radio marketing these mountain
33:08goats today this will give us survival over time uh movement data these callers are going to track and
33:15send us points and we can continue to develop a health profile for these individuals over time
33:34um mike look at his bottom lip looks like contagious ectima or oh let's take a photo of that
33:45oh yeah yeah that's definitely a ce we're gonna have to warn people don't try not to touch the mouth
33:55when you're seeing a rash on the mouth it's a disease that's called sore mouth or orf it's a viral
34:01disease it's actually a zoonotic disease meaning that if you touch that without gloves you can get
34:07it and you'll get pustules and and rash on your hands not a fun disease to have
34:12yeah that's contagious ectima so don't scratch your nose with your claws and and if you do see a sores let
34:24somebody know
34:28just trying to uh ultrasound her
34:32what we're doing is we're trying to see if she's pregnant so we're just going to get her
34:38back in the sling get her nice and situated in here and they're going to take her back up on the
34:45mountain and let her go just where they found her one two
35:00we had time to get an ultrasound in unfortunately not pregnant but 11 year old it's kind of what we
35:28expected expected a lot of productivity left at that age um but we're seeing you know them younger
35:33goats coming here too so yeah that was nice to see a two-year-old billy exactly that's really nice
35:39to see this is the future today overall was a success we got all the samples we needed every animal
35:45went back on the mountain safely they haven't been struggling they haven't been hot so that bodes
35:50really well for how they're going to do poster release got some good information great samples
35:58it'll be interesting to see how the tests come back as we expect is the old age of this population
36:04are becoming unproductive and so it reminds us of the urgency to get this population back on its feet
36:12with some younger animals
36:30so thacker is one of those reservoirs it's kind of tough to sneak and see what's going on so i'll kind
36:37of i'll kind of glass right here but see like i can't really so i can kind of pull off the road
36:41but there's not much that i can do you know i might be able to see someone on the on the dam of the
36:48reservoir but you know of course i gotta be watching my mirrors um and see even from here it's hard to tell
36:58if there's someone actually there
37:10it looks like there's a car there
37:21got a car here looks like at least two people
37:25so we'll check licenses see if they're doing any good
37:31it's like he's reeling in
37:41oh you do yeah what do you hey look at that you got to make sure you guys got your license yeah not
37:49keeping too many yeah like mine outstanding cool yep you expire today so make sure to uh run into town
37:57and uh get a new one yeah of course don't need uh little tickets for fish without a license right
38:02right brian if you want to bring those over to me man i'll go ahead and check them out here
38:07i don't like walking on that that's a little sketchy it is scary it's shaky
38:12i figure it's still got a few more walks on it though
38:18beautiful beautiful fish though right you mind if i take a picture of them hey yeah go ahead
38:24so who's caught who's caught what he's caught all three you have oh you're winning today huh
38:29yeah right on awesome guys well have fun today and good luck to you all right start catching fish
38:35man okay on this one nice talking to you guys all right yeah i would shake his hand that's all good
38:42awesome guys i appreciate it thank you thank you
38:44well that's cool you gotta make contact with a couple more people today um make a quick turn
38:58right here and see if i can find anybody so we'll see what's going on
39:02there's a big dead eagle right there i just want to take a quick look at it
39:21i gotta give my bio just a call
39:32hey jane and zach if you could give me a call just found a dead eagle and i'm going to go ahead
39:43and pick it up and toss through my truck just want to give you a heads up thanks spike
39:48of course you can't shoot eagles so just metal detecting to cover my bases because it's a
40:02federally protected bird i think they tend to sit on the road and eat until they get full and they
40:13don't fly up and just end up getting struck by a vehicle it's pretty mangled so that's probably what
40:21happened so i'll take it to the endow office in winnemucca we'll put it in the freezer and they'll
40:29x-ray it see if there's like disease or anything and then um she'll determine where it goes
40:38all right we're done here
40:43i love being in the outdoors i do a lot of this on my own time i want to keep it that way for
40:52generations in the future it means a lot to me and i want to protect it the best that i can
41:13you
