A security guard has been sentenced to 13 years in jail by the Penang High Court on Wednesday (July 31) for murdering his neighbour at an apartment where he was working at in Paya Terubong four years ago.

00:13The punishment was handed down by High Court Judge Kee Choo Soon after 69-year-old accused
00:19Ong Lai Seng pleaded guilty to murdering 42-year-old Chua Kok Siong at the guardhouse of Desame
00:26Apartments in Persiaran Paya Terubong in December 2020.
00:30Kee said in addition to considering Ong's age and circumstances of the case and that
00:35the murder was not pre-planned but triggered by a fight between two neighbours, Ong would
00:40serve his jail term from the date of arrest and be spared from caning.
00:45It was learnt that the victim was stabbed 10 times at a guard post of the apartment
00:50where Ong worked as a security guard.
00:53The suspect claimed that he stabbed the victim as he could not endure the constant harassment
00:58he received from the victim.
