00:19Judge Datuk Mohammad Nasir Nordeen meted out the sentence after the accused, Mohammad Amin
00:25Rozdan, pleaded guilty to two alternative charges.
00:29The 32-year-old was accused of receiving 1,800 ringgit and 1,200 ringgit in his bank account
00:37from a 31-year-old man, which was related to his official duties at the Shah Alam City
00:43Council MBSA.
00:45The offences were allegedly committed at a bank branch in Klang between May 7, 2019 and
00:51June 13, 2020.
00:54He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of up to
00:59two years' imprisonment or a fine or both upon conviction.
01:03During proceedings, Mohammad Amin, who was not represented, pleaded for a lighter sentence
01:08as he has to support two siblings who are still studying.
01:12He said his mother is ill, while his father, who has a roadside drink stall, is frail,
01:17adding that he regretted his offence.
01:19However, MACC Prosecuting Officer Mohammad Arif Ashraf Mohammad Khairi pressed for a
01:25deterrent sentence.
01:27The court ordered Mohammad Amin to be imprisoned for 12 months if he fails to pay the fine.
