00:00we'll start broadly here in the president's remarks about europe is he missing something
00:06that you wish he knew um first thank you for inviting me we just had a very good discussion
00:14in the security council on ukraine which was at points quite emotional and rightly so we are
00:20observing the fourth year of brutal russian aggression in ukraine with a lot of civilian
00:25that's a lot of children that's destroyed energy infrastructure and severe violations of
00:33international law and the u.n charter so everyone including ukrainians wants to see just and lasting
00:39peace and everyone in the security council 14 countries are permanently calling for an immediate
00:46and unconditional ceasefire so i think it is very clear that is russia we want to see peace and we
00:54want to see just lasting peace that means that the peace is also um acceptable for ukraine
01:02yeah well we should note and i appreciate your answer that slovenia currently holds the presidency
01:08at the u.n security council so your views are important here do you worry that this plan on
01:12the table now favors russia and would hurt ukraine and therefore the rest of europe i mean the
01:20negotiations are ongoing and i of course command the u.s administration trump and everyone involved
01:27because it is good that there is a time also for diplomacy for um searching for political solution
01:34instead of a military one of course first is as i said before uh immediate and urgent ceasefire needed
01:42and then meaningful negotiations um ukraine has to be at the table europe has to be at the table we are
01:49discussing about strong security guarantees for the countries that something like similar wouldn't
01:55happen again in the future and it's also about accountability it is a brutal war that is ongoing
02:01we see really horrible acts i was traveling myself not long ago in ukraine in several parts of the
02:08country when you see young people children being amputated without legs without arms i mean these are
02:15worse um victims so we do have to all do more and i encourage the diplomacy to work and i encourage um
02:24all sides to be equally engaged especially ukraine because ukraine is deciding about its own future we
02:31speak about territorial sovereignty and integrity no one by force can change the internationally recognized
02:38borders you know when you consider the idea of this peace plan being accepted within days the ft is reporting
02:49that that timeline is keying off president trump's hope to have a peace deal in place a deal agreed to
02:56by christmas minister is that possible i mean i wish to see that it is possible i think we all wish to see
03:04uh just and lasting peace for ukraine and a peace agreement but this is a question mostly for those
03:12that are sitting at the table i speak mostly here about president zelensky he's uh speaking about the
03:19state um and about the future of his state that's why i say it's very important that everyone is at the table
03:26that the dialogue is ongoing but still as long as there are bombings every day i don't see it's
03:33it's a good way to find a meaningful negotiation so yes i do comment the efforts of trump and
03:41administration because we start talking and europeans but it is clear um how these talks should be
03:48conducted meaningful way and based on an international law and the u.n charter
03:54minister feyon president trump sat for an extended interview uh with politico and was asked about
04:00these negotiations i'd like you to hear what he said and we'll have you respond listen which country
04:05right now is in the stronger negotiating position well there can be no question about it it's russia
04:12it's a much bigger country zelensky rejects this deal is there a timeline is there a point at which you
04:19say okay well he's gonna have to get on the ball and start uh accepting things you know when you're
04:25losing who's losing do ukraine has do you think ukraine has lost this war well they've lost territory
04:33long before i got here they lost a whole strip of seafront big seafront minister feyon i'll ask you
04:41the same question do you believe ukraine is losing this war um i think ukraine has high moral and it's
04:48see quite an inspiration to see people fighting for their own territory in the country as i said
04:55before no one and i will repeat it no one can buy force simply take your land away we had our own
05:01history in former yugoslavia and that is why i say it's all about territorial sovereignty and integrity
05:08if there is meaningful negotiations after the ceasefire it has to be respected and negotiated so i do hope
05:16that the president's putin zelensky trump will will sit down and find a solution that is acceptable
05:23for peace for security and for the future of ukraine well you remind us europeans have long memories
05:32and i wonder even if we have a peace deal with signatures on the table and a security guarantee
05:38does history suggest you can trust vladimir putin with a deal i mean we are this year in 80s year of
05:48anniversary of united nations eight years ago our leaders committed to values of securing collective
05:55peace and security for our citizens around the world i think this is a good moment to reflect ourselves
06:03where is our responsibility and maybe to recommit to these values i think we live in times of this
06:10terrible geopolitical turbulence with too many armed conflicts indoors and we need to protect civilians and
06:17i think this is our really moral if nothing else responsibility if vladimir zelensky gives up the
06:24donbass gives up territorial gains that russia has made minister in our remaining moment what will that
06:30mean for the rest of europe you don't expect that i will prejudge the negotiations and the end result i
06:37think this is up to president zelensky for the talks about what is acceptable and negotiable for ukraine
06:45that is clearly the victim of this war
