00:17Island Hospital outperformed Subang Jaya Medical Center, National Heart Institute, and Makota Medical Center
00:24after a year-long assessment described by MHTC as rigorous, independently validated, and benchmarked against global standards.
00:34MHTC also presented three special awards to Makota Medical Center for Strategic Industry Partnership Leader,
00:41Subang Jaya Medical Center for Brand Distinction Excellence,
00:45and National Heart Institute for Medical Excellence and Medical Technology Distinction.
00:49The ceremony was officiated by Health Minister Zupifli Ahmad, who said the FMTH initiative reflected Malaysia's ambition to be a leader
00:59in global medical tourism by recognizing private hospitals that demonstrated excellence in clinical outcomes,
01:06safety, patient experience, and international branding.
01:11MHTC CEO Surya Gandhi Supya said the FMTH program had strengthened Malaysia's competitiveness
01:18with participating hospitals undergoing clinical audits, safety reviews, digital maturity assessments,
01:25and evaluations of governance and branding.
01:29The four finalists collectively experienced approximately 75% growth in healthcare traveler revenue
01:38from October 2024 to September 2025.
01:43They invested RM1.4 billion between 2019 and 2025 directly supporting the national economy
01:56through construction, expansion, and operational activities that create employment and business opportunities
02:05for local industries.
02:07Surya Gandhi said that Malaysia welcomed 1.6 million healthcare travelers in 2024,
02:15generating RM2.72 billion in revenue, a 21% rise from the previous year.
02:22Zupifli meanwhile said the country had set a target of RM3 billion in revenue
02:27from 2.5 million healthcare travelers this year,
02:30adding that the sector's continued expansion would support the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 campaign,
02:37which aims to strengthen the country's position as a preferred destination for international patients.
