00:00As Southeast Asia accelerates its AI adoptions, Amazon Web Services AWS is moving to close the region's talent gap with new certifications, immersive training tools and expanded digital access.
00:13Managing Director for Commercial Training and Certification at AWS, Michelle Vass, said AWS recently launched the AWS Certified Generative AI Professional, a new credentialed aim at experienced developers looking to demonstrate advanced AI proficiency.
00:29Recently, AWS launched a new certification, which is the AWS Certified Generative AI Professional. This is a new certification for our experienced developers that we launched on November 18th. So it's exciting for those that are working towards their certifications. They will have a new AI certification that will allow them to demonstrate a more advanced understanding of AI in the tech professionalism.
00:56So when we think about AI literacy, you know, there's three steps I look at. The first step is going to be a foundational step. And it's really understanding AI readiness. So how ready is your organization when it comes to AI? And that really comes down to, do individuals understand what they can?
01:14And they can't do with AI and they can't do with AI and what the workplace can look like with AI. The second step when it comes to AI readiness is really understanding, you know, what does this new world look like with AI and how do you reimagine the role? So for example, you can take the role
01:44the one in marketing, the one in marketing, where previously a marketeer was creating their own content, they were coming up with their own branding. In this new world with AI assisted tools, they're able to very rapidly create content and publish content. And so I like to say that second step is really understanding the art of the possibility when it comes to AI.
02:04The third one is really, you know, creating a culture of learning. And that one's not, you know, an easy step. And that's the one that I really love to talk a little bit about what we're doing within training and certification. But when it comes to a culture of learning, I like to say it's a mindset. It's not mastery. And it's how do you build a mindset for learning and upskilling and development? How do you build curiosity?
02:32To support this shift, AWS has rolled out several new learning tools, such as micro-credentials, a hands-on assessment system, allowing individuals to validate specific skills.
02:45There's certain human skills that are going to matter. The first one is going to be critical thinking. Judgment matters. AI is not going to be able to do all the thinking for you. It's going to provide augmented assistance.
02:58But at the end of the day, you still need a human in there providing guidance, counseling, inspection, coaching, and really using judgment to say, you know, do we like the outputs of this?
03:09I think the other skill that's going to be really important is, you know, some of the human skill of empathy and collaboration.
03:17Humans are still involved at the end of the day. We have feelings, right?
03:21And I don't think we always give ourselves enough credit to, like, you know, what are the characteristics that make us unique as a human?
03:30As agentic AI gains fractions, VAS stressed that advanced automation doesn't eliminate the need for human talent.
03:37VAS emphasised that agentic AI empowers, not replaces.
03:41Asked how AWS measures real-world skills' impact.
03:44VAS said certifications' numbers matter, but only as signals.
