At the end of November, another UTS-800 training aircraft was integrated into the ongoing flight-test campaign after successfully completing its maiden flight at the airfield of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (JSC “UZGA”), part of the Sverdlovsk regional branch of the Russian Union of Machine Builders. According to UZGA, the inaugural flight focused on evaluating the trainer’s stability and maneuverability characteristics, particularly during takeoff and landing phases — essential stages for validating aircraft performance under critical conditions of basic pilot training. Test pilot Alexey Yazynin of JSC “UZGA” emphasized that all planned parameters were confirmed: “The flight was carried out according to the planned mission, and the objective was achieved — all stability and maneuverability characteristics of the aircraft were validated. The UTS-800 behaved predictably, with no remarks regarding its operation. Its advantages include low flight-hour cost, ideal speeds for takeoff and landing phases, and stable behavior at angles of attack close to critical, which is fundamental for cadet training. The aircraft’s construction is simple and tolerant of minor piloting errors.” According to the manufacturer, flight tests are proceeding strictly according to the approved schedule and meet the requirements of the Russian state customer. The program includes a series of evaluations across different flight regimes, maneuvers, and operational conditions, necessary to assess aerodynamic factors, stability, and the overall efficiency of the trainer.
