00:08You did not get screwed.

00:11This is what happens when you have the hubris of not being in a conference.

00:15This is the downside of not being in a conference.

00:18And now the Notre Dame AD is going totally crazy.

00:21Quote, we were mystified by the actions of the ACC

00:24to attack their biggest business partner in football

00:27at a member conference in 24 sports.

00:30Quote, they have done permanent damage to the relationship

00:32between the conference and Notre Dame.

00:35That's Vavacqua, the AD at Notre Dame.

00:37Well, what did the ACC conference do?

00:40So wrong.

00:41The ACC conference fought for an ACC conference member school in Miami to get in.

00:48Why did they fight for them?

00:50Because you played against Miami.

00:52When you decide who deserves to go in,

00:55and it's a legitimate debate and it's close,

00:57the very first thing you should look at,

01:00the fairest thing you should look at,

01:03regardless of when they played,

01:05is did they play head-to-head?

01:07If they did, who won?

01:09Notre Dame played head-to-head against Miami.

01:12I know it was three months ago,

01:13but it doesn't matter.

01:15Miami beat them.

01:17Right.

01:17Period.

01:17Stop.

01:18Now let's go to the second thing that people are yelling and screaming about.

01:22Well, Alabama's got a third loss.

01:24Why did they get in?

01:26They get in for two reasons.

01:27Let's be honest about it.

01:28Number one, they're the ESPN conference,

01:31and that carries a lot of weight.

01:33Anyone that says it doesn't, you're wrong.

01:35But number two,

01:36and this is going to be tough for Notre Dame fans to handle,

01:40you do not get penalized for making it to your conference championship game

01:45and then losing that game.

01:48Nor should you.

01:49You're playing an extra game from almost everybody else.

01:54I think BYU could say they got screwed.

01:57That one's a bunch better argument.

01:59Because they got the extra loss where?

02:01In the conference championship game.

02:03To a top four team in the country.

02:05Right.

02:05A team that's got a legitimate shot at winning a title.

02:08So if you ask me today,

02:10is there a single team that quote unquote got screwed?

02:14I would say yes.

02:17I would not say Notre Dame.

02:19No.

02:20And the other part is Notre Dame's best win.

02:22If we're just going to talk about the sport and who you play,

02:25their best win was USC.

02:26And USC was average this year.

02:29Meanwhile, Alabama beat Georgia on the road.

02:32Top four team.

02:33Then they lost in the rematch.

02:34They beat Vandy.

02:35They beat Missouri and Tennessee.

02:36All of those games teams better than anybody Notre Dame beat.

02:40And I think they beat them in consecutive weeks too.

02:41Consecutive.

02:42Four straight weeks.

02:42Yeah.

02:43And Notre Dame fans have said, well, we only lost by two.

02:46Well, if you're going to use that, Alabama only lost to Oklahoma,

02:49who's in by two.

02:50Yeah.

02:51Notre Dame had an argument.

02:53I'm not going to say you didn't have an argument.

02:54Based on winning 10 straight games, of course you had an argument.

02:57But as long as Miami had the same record,

03:00you should never have gotten in over Miami.

03:03I mean, that period stopped.

03:05And you can yell and scream all you want about how the ACC is screwing you.

03:09How, you know.

03:10We're partners.

03:11So you're screwed over your partner.

03:12It's not about that.

03:13It's about, and let's be fair about it.

03:15Why should Miami get screwed?

03:17Because you mean a lot financially to the ACC in your other sports.

03:22You're not an ACC conference member in football.

03:25You chose not to be.

03:27You've always chosen to be all by yourself.

03:29And by the way, people should also pay attention to the separate news story

03:32that came out yesterday, which is that starting next year,

03:36there's an agreement amongst the NCAA, for some reason I can't understand,

03:41that as long as Notre Dame in the rankings is 12th or better,

03:46they are guaranteed a spot in all future tournament play.

03:51Well, they did that.

03:52Why is that fair?

03:53Well, it's not fair.

03:55So you want your cake and you want to eat it too.

03:57Next year, you're guaranteed a spot because you have no conference.

04:01If you're 12th or better, and there's other kind of language in that,

04:05which you can even be 13th or 14th and be guaranteed a spot.
