00:00We don't have to pretend we're The Clash because we love The Clash.
00:03We're taking rich tradition and adding our own two cents to it.
00:09Happy record release day to Bay Area rockers Swimmers.
00:12Their sophomore album Berklee's On Fire is out today and they kicked off a headlining tour.
00:17Before they hit the road, the guy stopped by to talk about some of the new songs
00:21and what to expect from the set list. Here it is.
00:23One time we had a conversation with Mike Ness of Social Distortion
00:27and he said, no matter what happens, man, your set list needs to have mountains in it.
00:34And that means it needs to have ups and downs and you don't want to just push people with the same crap
00:38because it just gets tiring.
00:40And there's people in the back who want soft songs, there's people in the front who want hardcore songs.
00:44So we've got to make sure we're working with the psychology of that.
00:47Like music is meant to fill space, you know, and if you write songs that are meant to just be in your bedroom,
00:54you know, then they're only going to reach a little bit past your bedroom.
00:58But if you write songs that you would imagine being in a big space with a lot of people listening
01:03and connecting with the music, it becomes a different sound.
01:07Catch Swimmers on tour through May 3rd.
01:08They also have a few summer festival dates.
01:11Get all that info and the new music at Swimmers.com.
01:14See ya!
01:14We'll see you next time.
