00:00And he put me on his shoulder and I waved and Garth was like...
00:04Irish guy from Brooklyn brought his kids from Ireland to Perth to watch Garth Brooks from...
00:09Where's he from? Like Nashville or something, right?
00:11That's a good day. That's the world coming together, isn't it?
00:16Aussie psych rockers Pond are about to release a brand new album, Tasmania.
00:20Last time they were in our neck of the woods, the guys stopped by to discuss bringing new songs to life on stage
00:25and how the first few shows of the tour always feel.
00:28I like when you first start playing something.
00:30When you get comfortable playing a song, you've played it for ages, you cut corners, you know?
00:34The first time you cook something, you follow the recipe really like strictly
00:38and it turns out really well and then after a while you get better at it
00:41but you just kind of like, you know, you take it out of the oven early
00:44or you like put a random amount of salt in it and like it might not be actually as good.
00:49So I think that's why the first few shows are really good.
00:51You're still concentrating really hard on trying to like play well.
00:55And we don't record as a band either, we record in bits and pieces.
00:59So there might be a song where it's pretty much all Joe on the song
01:02or some song where one member is not even on the song at all, you know?
01:05So when we have to learn it live, it's pretty much like we're covering like ourselves, you know?
01:11Tasmania drops March 1st. To get your ears on the music and your eyes on the tour dates, visit pondband.net.
