00:01South Korean pop group BTS beat both Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez,

00:05so here's the five things that you need to know.

00:08Hey guys, it's Ali, and here's five things to know about K-pop group BTS.

00:12Number five, BTS has a massive social media following,

00:15which helped them beat Justin and Selena for top social artists

00:19at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards.

00:21The group has 5 million Twitter followers, 3.7 million on Instagram,

00:26and close to 4 million on their YouTube channel.

00:28Ugh, that's 2.7 million more than us.

00:31At number four, BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys,

00:34consists of seven members in their early 20s.

00:37Four members of the group, Jungkook, Jimin, V, and Jin are the lead vocalists,

00:42while Suga and J-Hope are the MCs.

00:44The group leader, Rap Monster, both sings and, of course, raps.

00:48Number three, their fandom is literally called an ARMY,

00:51which is an acronym for Adorable Representative MC for Youth.

00:55Their fandom is so big, they were able to sell out Newark's Prudential Center,

00:59Chicago's Allstate Arena, and Anaheim's Honda Center.

01:05Number two, the Bangtan Boys are huge fans of A$AP Rocky,

01:23At number one, BTS surprisingly produces socially conscious music,

01:31which sets them apart from other K-pop acts,

01:34who are mostly known for assembly line music that's pretty catchy, but pretty vacuous.

01:38BTS have taken on issues like mental health, Korean politics, and even female empowerment.
