00:15My Netflix and chill movie?
00:17I would say Black Mirror.
00:18It's not a movie, but I just put on Black Mirror because either, either somebody hasn't
00:23seen it and I'm the guy that gets to show them that, or they have seen it and then we're
00:31just like, yo, what's your favorite movie, or what's your favorite episode?
00:34It should be like, the USS Callister, which is my favorite episode.
00:37I mean, that's the one that won Ridiculous Awards.
00:39It's an incredible episode and so a lot of the time, I've seen that episode so many times.
00:43I'm not gonna lie, the chill part of the Netflix and chilling, it's not as often.
00:49It's more so just Netflix and grilled panini, maybe Netflix and The Big Chill, which is
00:56this yogurt place that's right around the corner from my house, you know?
00:59That's where I go.
01:03If I'm with my homies, I would pass the aux off because they're gonna play just hype music
01:09the whole time.
01:10And for me, I'd play hype music, I'd play hype music, I'd play hype music, and then I'd
01:12play some sad and slow song and my friends would be like, bro, what are you trying to
01:16do?
01:17I was on some The Star Is Born soundtrack and my bros would be like, what is this?
01:22So I give it off to my friends.
01:24We were listening, we were on our way to Disneyland for my sister Taylor's birthday on the 6th.
01:27It was on shuffle and I'll Never Love Again came on.
01:30And if you haven't seen it, yo, that song is just, but it's the movie version.
01:35So then it goes to Bradley Cooper right at the end where he does the, oh, it broke my heart.
01:40We were like, literally the whole car was tearing up and I was on our way to Disneyland.
01:45So I was like, hey, we gotta turn this up one time.
01:47So they put on Drip Too Hard and we went all the way up.
01:50My favorite album of all time would be The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill because you got both.
01:58On days when I'm trying to be mellow, I could listen to Nothing Even Matters.
02:02On days when I'm trying to be hype, you know, I could listen to X-Factor, I could listen to
02:08Doo-Wop.
02:09So there'd definitely be Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
02:12It's probably been 1975.
02:16I would literally shuffle all of the 1975 songs and I don't skip a single one.
02:20My favorite one, This Must Be My Dream, is where I think is where the guilty pleasure comes
02:25in because I'll dance like a teenage girl.
02:27My dance move, it's not even a dance move, it's just like jumping around like as if I was
02:32at a concert and nobody was watching me.
02:34I can't even do it for you right now because I would have to have this music blaring, drowning
02:38out everything else and then maybe I'll film it for you guys and then the next time I do
02:41it, I'll put a camera up and I'll just send it just for you guys.
02:45Me and my manager Liz, before shows that she's at, we touch pinkies.
02:50Like, it's something we've done since I was 15 years old when I played my first show.
02:54But I have different rituals with different people, like my little sister Hallie, we have
02:57a full handshake that we do that goes crazy.
03:01When I'm with my band, we have a prayer circle.
03:03When I'm with, you know, so it's always, it changes with whoever I'm with, but then
03:07for me alone, like I always say a little quick prayer before I go on stage and then we get
03:12out there and we have some fun.
03:16I'm not super, super crazy.
03:19The weirdest thing I guess is pineapple juice.
03:21Just because it was actually, my boy William Singe was the one who put me on it because
03:25before the shows he was drinking it and in my head I was like, that's not good for your
03:28throat.
03:29I was like, why would you do that?
03:30And he's like, no, it's like, it actually like coats my throat.
03:32And so I tried it one show and I was like, yo, this is dope.
03:35And then afterwards coming off stage and just drinking pineapple juice, that's nothing,
03:39nothing better.
03:40It takes me to the beach.
03:41You know, I remember Shawn Mendes told me this one time, he's like, every time I go out
03:49on stage, I imagine that I haven't achieved anything, that there's no fans out there.
03:53I do that most of the time.
03:55But then sometimes I'll look out before and I'll see and I'll really understand like,
03:59man, we're about to go play for thousands of people right now.
04:02Or, oh man, we're about to go play.
04:04Like these people are chanting my name, that's crazy.
04:06And then I'll get those little butterflies and I'm like, oh shoot, I'm about to go on
04:09stage.
04:10Like I got to go do this thing.
04:11I think that's what makes it fun.
04:12It's always a variety.
04:13Sometimes I go out there and I'm like, boom, this is my show.
04:16And sometimes I go out there and I'm like, I'm like nervous, but excited.
04:20It's never like, it's never, it's never dull energy.
04:22And that's what I love about it is it's never, it's never anything but 10.
04:27It's just what kind of 10 is that?
04:29You know, is it, is it a nervous 10 or is it a, I'm, you know, game, game face 10, you know?
04:38Getting ready for bed and I'm like, man, I really love Sour Patch Kids.
04:42And then I'll get to a show and a fan club brought me like a big old bag of Sour Patch Kids.
04:45It's just crazy.
04:46Like it reminds me, honestly, it reminds me of when you're in a relationship and you have
04:52that like, how'd you know moment, right?
04:54Like you have that moment where you're like, babe, like how'd you know?
04:57The fans really listen and they really take care of me and they make sure that I'm healthy.
05:02Like I know the crazy that you're looking for is like, oh, like a fan pull my pants down and
05:07I don't have that because my fans are just dope.
05:10So like to me, it's just crazy how dope they are.
05:12I think it's crazy how much they love me and support me.
05:15And that's why I constantly want to give them more and more.
05:17But at the same time, at the same time, they roast me and that's what I love.
05:21Like they'll be like, boy, what you doing walking around with them shoes on?
05:24And it's, it's, it's, that's like my, that's my relationship.
05:27Nobody's safe.
05:28But at the same time, we all take care of each other.
05:30We all make sure mental health is, is everybody's okay.
05:33And if you're not okay, we rally around to help you out.
05:36You know, everybody, whether it's me, my fans rally around to help me out.
05:39If I see a fans tweeting me, man, I'm so stressed for these finals, I'll tweet them.
05:43And then I see that all the fans will tweet them being like, you've got this.
05:46You can kill this, whatever, dah, dah, dah, you know?
05:48And so it's just, it's a real good energy that I feel like myself and the fans that we've
05:54all built together is like kind of turning to this family.
05:57I would just copy it.
06:01I would just be like, oh, that sound, it's an organ.
06:03And I would put up an organ sound or this sound is this.
06:05But as I wanted to continue challenging myself, I realized it's easy to just, for me, it got
06:10easy to just copy.
06:11And so I'd say to myself, man, try something like completely different.
06:15Why don't you produce a whole song and then see what cover you could sing on top of that
06:20song.
06:20So it has no comparison.
06:22And so the last few videos, you'll see that is the song.
06:25If you listen to it, if I played you the song, you wouldn't be like, oh, that's Thank You
06:28Next or oh, that's Sunflower.
06:30You'd just be like, then when you hear me singing it, it would be different.
06:34You'd be like, oh, whoa, that's crazy.
06:35It makes it more creative and it made it more fun and exciting and challenging for me too.
06:42Something that kind of joins, we were talking about Hercules, something that kind of joins
06:46action and like real true love.
06:48Not just like a love story where like guy kisses the girl at the end.
06:51Disappointed!
06:53But something where like we're talking about this scene in Hercules, when Hercules, you
06:57know, Hades says, this is so childish, but I'm going to talk about it.
07:00Hades says to Hercules, you want Meg, you can go jump into the river.
07:05And as he jumps in, he's like, oh, I forgot to let you know you're not coming back.
07:08You're going to die.
07:09But he, you know, Hercules knew that he knew he was what he was sacrificing.
07:12Like, that's like real love.
07:15And so something that like really pulls at your heart.
07:17When I watched that scene, I've seen that movie since I was a kid.
07:19When I watched that scene, every single time, like I get that like lump in my throat.
07:24Like, oh, like love, like that's so crazy.
07:26And so something that involves both because I want to, I still want to be a part of this
07:30action, this, this like boom, boom.
07:33But then at the same time, I also want to sing those love, you know, those really deep
07:39cutting love songs that, that show what the movie's, you know, portraying.
07:43You got to have both.
07:44You got to have both.
07:50It's called As You Need.
07:51I wrote it 100% myself, produced it myself.
07:54It's a love song that was really about what kind of the situation that I went through kind
08:00of closing out this year.
08:01I started hanging out with this girl and I fell super, super hard for her and she wasn't
08:08ready.
08:09And I wanted to write a song to let her know like timing is so important to me.
08:15Like if it's not the right time, it's just not the right time.
08:18You can't do anything about it.
08:19And so I wanted to let her know that like as much as she needed of time or of space or
08:24if she needed somebody to be there for her or whatever, I was going to give her that.
08:27And so As You Need literally says that in the chorus.
08:30It says if you need time, I won't waste it.
08:32If you need space, I'll be patient.
08:34If you need love, I got that for you.
08:36And if you need me, I'm at your door.
08:37And that's like really what I say in the chorus.
08:39And so I wanted to give that to the fans because as I wrote the song, you know, it didn't
08:43end up working with me and her because again, she wasn't ready.
08:46As I listened more and more to it, it's something that I feel like I wanted to give to the fans
08:51because the fans need to know the level of love that there is in the world.
08:57Because sometimes you're with somebody and you're like, man, like, I'm not happy with
09:01you, but I'm worried that there's nobody better.
09:03And so I wanted to give this song out because to me, we were just talking about Hercules
09:07and like the ultimate love acts.
09:09And I'm such like a lovey kid.
09:10I don't know.
09:10Ultimate love is that you would, you would let somebody go for them to, to help them grow
09:15and to help them like heal.
09:16And so that's to me what the song is about.
09:18So she knows, she, she heard the song.
09:20Um, so I, I'm just hoping that when the fans here, they, they don't go attacking somebody
09:25if they know who it's about and I'm not going to, I'm not going to Taylor Swift, nobody.
09:29I'm not going to like go out and be like, this is who did it.
09:31And it's a bad song, but I'm like the world.
