00:00A homeowner in Taman Yarl, Kuala Lumpur, is facing court action after health officers found he failed to comply with a cleanup notice issued over two months ago.
00:11The resident has for decades ignored warnings to clear piles of recyclables and rubbish from his porch and the area outside his house.
00:19The piles have grown to nearly roof level, extending all the way to his gate.
00:24A lorry parked in front is also filled with rubbish.
00:27On September 25th, the Kuala Lumpur Solid Waste Management Corporation, or SW Corp., conducted a site visit.
00:36Officers discovered that the main property is occupied by an elderly couple who collect recyclables from the OUG morning market to earn a living.
00:46Despite being given a 14-day cleaning order by the Lemba Pantai Health Office, the couple refused to comply.
00:52A follow-up inspection on October 9th confirmed the order had been ignored.
00:57The case has now been referred to the Health Ministry's Legal Division for Court Action, marking the first time in decades that enforcement has reached this stage.
01:06But residents remain sceptical.
01:08After 20 years of empty promises, they're waiting to see if this time will be different.
01:14As of now, no visible cleanup has taken place.
01:28There are some of thećs who have taken place.
01:30I'm still going to see if they're going to the right place.
01:32I'm still going to see if it's not possible to carry out the help.
