00:00They must get more money in here now, look, yeah, I should drink with flavours.
00:10This has solved the financial trouble.
00:14I'm joined with Sean Dyche.
00:24Sean, what are your thoughts on that?
00:26Well, obviously never got off to a good start.
00:31That's not helpful.
00:33But I think, to be honest, I never thought we got close to the performance level I expect from the group.
00:37But not on tactics or anything, just the competitive nature, the desire, the will of a collective to really take the game on.
00:44I never really thought we got to grips with it, to be honest.
00:46I thought they did.
00:47Credit to them.
00:48You know, they started bright.
00:49They started with an edge.
00:51They were fighting.
00:51They were competing.
00:53Getting the ball forward, asking questions, running hard.
00:56All the basics.
00:57But I don't want to over-egg it because I think we've done, I think the players here have done a big shift from that, you know, from when we got here to where they are now.
01:04And it's only the second time we've stepped away from it.
01:07Because I think they've put in a real, real shift physically and the mentality to go and take games on.
01:12But we can't start like that in games against a team who looked really hungry to me of a chance to jump up the league.
01:17And we've done that well so far, but we didn't today.
01:20Given the context of what had gone before, as you say, it felt like a bit of a surprise, didn't it?
01:25I can understand why you stuck with the same team, but they didn't deliver the same kind of performance.
01:29No, I agree.
01:30Sorry, I don't know what these are.
01:32Maybe they spent the money on the drinks.
01:35Still not working, is it?
01:37Anyways.
01:37No, I think it's a challenge at the minute because I'm learning about the players.
01:43You know, the way that we train and the way that we're working with them, the rest and recovery.
01:47I made a decision to keep the same side because I thought it was a nice balance to it in the previous couple of performances.
01:53And a few just looked like they were flagging early doors.
01:55So we had to make changes.
01:56It was nothing against them or anything like that.
01:58Just try and freshen it and give the game a different feel.
02:02I mean, there's some things, you know, I said to Big Tarky, just to be clear,
02:06who, you know, I've had it too close and I respect him and like him as well as a bloke.
02:10And I said to him, how he got away with that in the first half?
02:12I don't know what's going on there.
02:13The referee was honest.
02:14I went to see him.
02:15He said he didn't see it.
02:16None of the officials saw it.
02:17But I said, VR saw it and they did nothing about it.
02:20I'm very, very surprised at that.
02:22And I've told him I'm going to tell you this, by the way.
02:26And equally, I mean, really cried at him.
02:28One in the second goal, so it hits the referee on the way through, diverts it right into his path.
02:34Although it was, you know, they're on a breakaway, 3v1.
02:36And 3v2.
02:38And, you know, them things on a day when you're not playing well, you don't need them to go against you.
02:41That's for sure.
02:42But as I suggest, I'm going to credit Everton because they look more up for it.
02:46And I'm not talking about quality of either side of football.
02:49I'm about the edge and desire to really take the game on.
02:52And we were lacking that today.
02:53So it's a real reminder to our group that that has to be in place as a basic.
02:57And then your good play can take care of itself.
03:00I'll just ask about Ryan Yates and how he is.
03:03Yeah, unfortunately, it looks like hamstrings.
03:05So we're going to have to, I mean, you know, I won't know more until it settles overnight at least.
03:09We're going to scan on it hopefully tomorrow.
03:11But it looks like hamstrings.
03:12I'm, you know, going for him.
03:14He's been working ever so hard to play.
03:16And arguably, he's knocking on the door to play.
03:18So I'm disappointed in that one, that's for sure.
03:20So we're still looking to get others fit as well.
03:31Evening, Sean.
03:31How are you?
03:32All right.
03:32I'm good, thank you.
03:34Obviously, your focus now is very much Nottingham Forest.
03:36But given the job you did in the most difficult circumstances at Everton here,
03:41what satisfaction can you take seeing them as a Premier League team in these new surroundings
03:45and your thoughts on the new stadium?
03:46Yeah, there's no satisfaction today for obvious reasons.
03:49But, no, of course, it's fantastic to see the club come out of that,
03:52well, hopefully well out of that dark period of many different reasons.
03:56No accusation of anyone who had a part in that.
03:59You know, and I said, like, about the score today, it's not relevant to me.
04:02I've moved on, you know.
04:03But somewhere down the future, I think people will recognise the job I did.
04:07I said in the build-up disc game, the job we all did.
04:09There was loads of people involved in that period, including the players by the way.
04:12A lot of them are still here.
04:13But, you know, now they're in this magnificent stadium.
04:16So, fair play.
04:17You know, that's one of them things.
04:19So, like I said, there's never been an axe to grind from me.
04:22Did my job, worked really hard.
04:24So did a lot of people.
04:25You said you spoke to James Tarkoski already.
04:28Has anyone else had any words?
04:30Yeah, I saw Kino.
04:31I like to see Poppins, see Moyse.
04:33I like to see the staff as well and try and cross amongst the players.
04:36But, you know, it's like everyone's prepping for a game.
04:38You're not going to start bowling around, like, saying hello to everyone.
04:40Trust me.
04:41But Kino and Tarki, obviously, I had them at Burnley as well.
04:44Great fellas.
04:44Great fellas.
04:45So, yeah, I just caught them on the way out.
04:46And I did tell him I was going to tell him exactly what I told you.
04:49Just so everyone knows.
04:50Thank you, Sean.
04:51Cheers.
04:51Sean, you've done really well in keeping clean sheets in recent games.
05:00Is it frustrating that you've conceded three today in the circumstances around them?
05:03Yes, I mean, although they were the better side, got no problem with that overall.
05:08It's not a 3-0 game, really, but they capitalised on each chance they had.
05:12And that's fair enough.
05:13You know, sometimes you have to do that.
05:15I mean, the biggest point of the game, actually, when I'm not saying we deserve to be back in it,
05:20but Tarki makes a brilliant block on the line, you know,
05:22and Jordan makes a good save from a great whip from Amari, you know,
05:26point-blank save, and we don't capitalise on getting a little touch on it or the rebound, you know.
05:31They're probably the only two moments where you thought,
05:32OK, we might sniff our way back into this, because sometimes football's like that.
05:36I'm not saying we deserved it or not, but they were probably the two big moments for us.
05:41And even the last one, it goes through bodies, and, you know, you think,
05:44it's one of them days almost, you know.
05:45But like I say, it's taken nothing away from them.
05:48And we weren't where we needed to be today from the off, in my opinion.
05:51And I spoke to the players about that.
05:53But equally, I reminded them all the work they have done,
05:55because it's been a pretty solid run since we got in 10 games of performance-wise
06:00and pretty good results.
06:02So, you know, I'm not going to over-egg it with them,
06:03but it just goes to show today, if you're not right going around the Premier League
06:06in the physical nature of it, the demand, the edge that you've got to play with,
06:10it's very difficult to win games.
06:11And we just didn't have that today.
06:13I guess it doesn't help when you have a player booked after 30-odd seconds.
06:16Yeah, well, that's it.
06:17I mean, you know, obviously then we had to make a decision at half-time.
06:20We waited until half-time.
06:21That was part of it, by the way.
06:22It wasn't a performance-rated thing.
06:24We thought, we can't go down to 10, obviously.
06:26You know, you're 2-0 down at half-time.
06:28So we had to take a judgment call, and that's acted fine, by the way, coming on.
06:33But, yeah, it was really frustrating, really, for the players as well today,
06:36because they come up here in good spirits, obviously,
06:38after a big, very important win in the week.
06:40We rested them down, really light sessions,
06:42and, you know, just couldn't get the grips with the game
06:44from the very off of the game, you know, and the shape.
06:46And, like I say, all the ugly yards, we call it ugly hard yards,
06:49and they did it better than us.
06:50And their know-how showed as well.
06:52They've got a lot of Premier League players in there
06:53who have played Premier League football a lot off.
06:55And we've still got players who are learning about the Premier League.
06:57And I thought that showed today with their sort of edge of a group of players
07:00and how they played and how they went above it.
07:02Can't you just ask Cal Murillo is?
07:04Yeah, he's been ill.
07:05He's been ill.
07:06So I've been waiting on it.
07:07I mean, yesterday was sort of 50% better.
07:09So we'll wait, hopefully, over the next couple of days
07:11or certainly by tomorrow, Monday,
07:14he should be back on the training pitch.
07:15And that's what we're hoping for, of course.
07:17Because as many people as we can get fit, we want fit.
