Hi Ange. Despite the score line, did you see plenty of positives from your side today?
00:07
Look, it's a disappointing result. Whenever you lose a game of football, it's disappointing.
00:16
Fair play to them. They're a very good side, especially here at home.
00:22
If anything's going well, it's still a difficult task to come here.
00:31
To keep my disappointment in terms of the result in context, it's been a very disruptive week for the players.
00:39
Seven days ago, their world was totally different from what it is today.
00:43
You've got to understand that. I certainly do.
00:46
I can't fault the players' endeavour and effort.
00:51
I thought we hung in there. We never really had control of the game at any point.
00:56
But we still, I thought, worked really hard in the first half.
01:01
It was kind of small seeds towards the end of the first half of us, maybe being able to cause them some problems.
01:08
But the second goal straight after halftime sort of killed the game.
01:12
They're very good at controlling it from there and we weren't able to get back in it.
01:15
So, yeah, you can't accept defeat and you've got to be disappointed by the context of what the week's been like.
01:25
I can't fault the players in terms of what they were trying to do.
01:29
You mentioned ahead of the game that you've got a very busy schedule coming up.
01:32
Will you have the time on the training pitch with your players to kind of get over what you want?
01:37
Yeah, I think so. I mean, you know, we've only had one training session together.
01:40
Obviously, International Week made it more challenging.
01:42
We only really had yesterday together as a group.
01:45
So, even though we've got games, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing
01:49
because there's a lot of the new signings who haven't really got the opportunity yet.
01:53
You know, guys like, you know, Douglas Louise and, you know, you saw today,
01:58
Dylan Bakwa and Colomiendo and Jesus, McAtee, Hutchinson, Jair.
02:05
Yeah, there's, I mean, Savona's first game.
02:07
There's a lot of players there who, you know, the beauty of being in Europe
02:11
and I guess, you know, Carabao Cup Wednesday night is that along with training,
02:14
we can actually bet in some match principles as well.
02:16
So, I think it's kind of, you know, it's kind of good opportunity in this,
02:21
between now and next international break, to sort of, you know, integrate the new players,
02:26
but also start betting down some of our principles in terms of how we want to play.
02:30
Thank you. Next. Yes.
02:33
Hi, Ange. Can you talk a little bit about how, obviously, like, next to no time with the players?
02:39
So, do you just try and push continuity or can you just talk about how you kind of,
02:44
what, how do you own stuff out there? It's just no time.
02:47
Well, not for this week anyway. Look, I mean, you know, who knows whether it's the right way
02:51
or the wrong way, but, you know, like I said, you know, the players, they're all away on international duty.
02:57
The other players had sort of, you know, the whole weekend off.
03:00
They only got back in on Tuesday. So, you know, what they left, you know,
03:05
when they left the club to what they inherited was totally different.
03:07
You know, new face, new voices, new coaching, new training.
03:11
And I just thought, you know, today I didn't want to make too many changes to the line-up,
03:16
because, you know, I think it would have been unfair, both on the existing players,
03:20
but on the new players to be thrown in in such a difficult game.
03:25
But I think we can put a line through that now.
03:27
I think now we kind of understand that's the week and that's the first week
03:31
and the sort of first phase sort of we can put to bed and now start looking ahead.
03:37
Like I said, we've got a game Wednesday. We've got two sessions before that.
03:40
That's gold for us.
03:41
Then we've got another couple of sessions before the next Premier League game.
03:46
Opportunity to play some players.
03:47
So, you know, I think whatever's happened this week
03:53
and, you know, sort of how disruptive it's been,
03:55
we can put a line through it and start looking ahead.
03:59
What did you make of Elliot Anders?
04:01
He's obviously coming from a lot of confidence after his two supporters' room.
04:05
How much you've been able to work with him?
04:07
Oh, that was brilliant, man. Outstanding.
04:08
Yeah, just, yeah, ability.
04:11
But, you know, we had the way we really are today.
04:14
We didn't have a lot of the ball, but every time he was on it,
04:16
I thought he was unbelievable.
04:18
Really excited to work with him.
04:21
He's still a young man, you know.
04:23
But I've only had literally 48 hours with him,
04:27
but already I can see he's very, very ambitious,
04:30
wants to win, wants to be the best.
04:32
Yeah, outstanding.
04:34
And I'm very excited to be working with him.
04:36
How much of a blow has he been on that?
04:39
Yeah, again, just added to the disruption, then you lose Murillo.
04:43
So it's kind of, you know, it's just added to the disruption, I guess,
04:48
of, you know, we had to make some changes.
04:52
And to the sort of line-up that meant, you know,
04:55
Netgoa had to play on the right-hand side.
04:57
Murata had to play as a left full-back, so that was a bit disruptive.
05:02
But again, all that sort of stuff is kind of, you know,
05:06
just a moment in time.
05:08
Looking ahead, you know, we'll obviously have Alex Jenko ready for the next game.
05:13
And it was great.
05:15
Young Savannah got some game time today.
05:17
We'll get some game time to guys like Jair as well.
05:19
So we'll have some options at the back.
05:21
And you said that you did see a few little seeds, I think you said.
05:25
What were there?
05:26
What did you see that you wanted to take forward?
05:28
Well, I think, you know, the boys sort of hung in there.
05:33
At no stage, I think they sort of, you know, gave up the fight.
05:38
I thought Dylan Backwell, when he came on, was really exciting, you know,
05:43
for his first sort of game.
05:45
I really liked Dan and Doi's sort of ability to cause the opposition problems.
05:53
Yeah, the kind of bedrock of the team, guys like Milenkovic and Matty Sells.
06:00
I thought Nico Williams, you know, again, had a tough job today,
06:03
but I thought when he went to the left-hand side, did a really good job.
06:05
So there's plenty there, and there's no one I'm saying,
06:08
well, that was disappointing, because like I said,
06:10
it'd just be unfair on the players, you know.
06:12
In any walk of life, if you have such a massive disruption
06:17
and then you're facing such a massive challenge straight away,
06:20
all I could ask for that was effort and a bit of endeavour.
06:25
We tried to do a couple of things a little bit differently,
06:27
and obviously they were trying.
06:29
And as long as I see that, that's all I need.
06:32
That's the encouragement I need.
06:33
My job is now to give them clarity moving forward
06:36
so that we can play our football.
06:38
Last question?
06:39
Jack on Murillo.
06:40
Yeah, it's a knock.
06:41
They obviously got a bit of a knock there,
06:43
so I'm hoping it's nothing too serious
06:47
and hoping to be available for next week,
06:49
but I'll just wait on their report, yeah.
06:51
Last one, Paul.
06:52
And it's obviously very early days for you.
06:55
How long do you think it will take before we do see a team
06:58
that is a reflection of what you want?
06:59
Are you talking weeks or months?
07:01
Oh, no, mate.
07:02
It won't be months.
07:03
It won't be weeks.
07:04
It will be Wednesday.
07:05
You know, I can't afford to waste time.
07:08
This is not a project.
07:10
This football club had a strong season last year.
07:13
It needs to be stronger this year.
07:14
My job is to get us to where I want us as quickly as possible.
07:17
So, you know, by Wednesday night we start seeing, you know,
07:21
some real principles being embedded.
07:24
It won't take long.
07:25
And I'm not going to let it take long.
07:27
I'll make sure that we turn it around
07:30
because we've got an unbelievable opportunity this year
07:33
to make an impact
07:34
and I'm not going to let that slip.
07:36
Thank you very much.
