00:00And let's start off in the heartland, and that's Indiana, a team with a ton of basketball
00:08tradition that followed hard times after Bobby Knight had left.
00:14Obviously, they had a little bit of a run with Mike Davis, so you look at Tom Crean's
00:18era not being great, and even Mike Woodson's.
00:20So they went to the drawing board, and they hired Darren DeVees, and he has done a fantastic
00:28job with this team, currently ranked 22 in the AP Top 25.
00:36Why is this team playing so well?
00:38Well, number one, they can shoot the absolute snot out of it.
00:42And what better player that Coach DeVees has than his son, Tucker, who's scoring about 18
00:49points per game, five and a half rebounds, 3.4 assists, shooting at about 44% from three.
00:55If you've not seen Tucker DeVees play, he is one of the best pure shooters in the country.
01:01He did it at Drake in 23-24.
01:04Then he went to West Virginia with his dad in a one-year, shot the ball well, obviously
01:08he had some injuries, and now he's doing it in the Big Ten.
01:13What else has gone right?
01:15He hit the portal again.
01:16Not for his son.
01:18Bobby doesn't even look like his son.
01:20And that's Lamar Wilkinson.
01:21He hit you 16.7 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, excuse me, 44.3% from the floor,
01:3041% from three.
01:32They shoot the ball as good as any team in the country.
01:38And what this shows you is it's not about getting the right transfer, although you better
01:45take your son with you, you better get the right transfer in regards to they fit your
01:51style.
01:53Hint, hint, Florida.
01:55Let's move on to Iowa State.
01:58T.J.
01:58Oshenberger, I really believe, is one of the best in the country.
02:01And his team is at it again.
02:03Ranked number 10 in the country right now.
02:06Led by Tamin Lipsy.
02:07Getting him about 18.5 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 51% from the floor,
02:1633.3% from three.
02:19But it's a double-headed monster he has.
02:21With Joshua Jefferson, getting almost 18 points a game as well, 8 rebounds, 5 assists per game,
02:28with 54% from the floor.
02:31They have other players as well.
02:33And I think what's different about this Iowa State team, it's kind of like a little bit
02:38like Houston with Kelvin Sampson.
02:41I think they've realized that they've had to get a little bit better offensively, right?
02:48Be a little bit more offensively diverse, right?
02:52And don't lean on trying to win games in the 50s or 60s.
02:57The question is, is in a loaded Big 12, where's Houston?
03:05Where's Kansas?
03:07Where the—oh, no, Oklahoma's in the SEC.
03:13Where do they stack up in that league?
03:18That's a big three league.
03:20Now, those other teams are going to make the tournament as well.
03:22But those three are at the top of the league.
03:25And what T.J.
03:26Ostenberger has done at Iowa State, I don't think he really gets enough credit or respect
03:33as being one of the best coaches in the country.
