00:00There's only two things that matter to me in this offseason as a Mets fan.
00:03I want Alonzo and Edwin Diaz signed.
00:06Whatever you do after that, obviously we need starting pitching.
00:09There's no question.
00:10That's got to be addressed.
00:11You could trade anybody not named Lindor, Soto, and McClain.
00:15Oh, well, that's a very positive outlook, I think, because, you know,
00:18they did have Pete and Edwin last year and didn't do so well.
00:22What do you think happened?
00:23But you know what?
00:24But they did.
00:24Look, Edwin Diaz was the premier closer in baseball last year,
00:27and he has been for a while now.
00:29I mean, let's be honest about it.
00:30And Pete had a monster year.
00:32I mean, let's be honest.
00:33And he's an all-time Met.
00:35See, this means a lot to me, John.
00:37I was a Met fan since the beginning of the Mets.
00:40I was nine years old in 1962, and I have seen this franchise get rid of,
00:45basically with the exception of David Wright, every iconic player we've ever had.
00:50They traded Tom Seaver for basically four stiffs.
00:53What a disaster that was.
00:55And I'm not even going to get on the Nolan Ryan trade,
00:58but everything after that, starting with the Seaver trade,
01:01you had that a**hole Frank, excuse me, can I say a**hole?
01:04That a**hole Frank Cashin who destroyed the championship team,
01:09saying Darryl Strawberry wasn't, at the time, a $5 million a year ball player.
01:13Let him walk away to the Dodgers.
01:14What a disaster.
01:15I could go on and on.
01:16That's my feeling.
01:18I want Pete.
01:19He's an all-time Met.
01:20He's a homegrown Met.
01:21He's our all-time home run leader in the history of the franchise.
01:24I want to see this guy play his whole career here.
01:27I don't know if he hit 500 homers, but certainly over 400, 400 and something home runs.
01:32And, you know, number 20 eventually go up into the rafters.
