00:15:39Wake up sugar baby, it's the lady boss who paved the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
00:16:00Wake up sugar baby, it's the lady boss who paved the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
00:16:09My name is Athena Dion, I am the queen of Miami, the queen of Mykonos and the Greek glam goddess
00:16:20of season 18. Dion should sound familiar because my little rat of- I'm sorry. My beautiful daughter
00:16:26got on the show before me on season 16, Morphine Love Dion. And there's another one on this
00:16:31season with me too. Juicy Love Dion. I'm a very fertile mother. I have a lot of drag children.
00:16:37This uterus, honey, she's been put to work. Listen, I am the mother of Miami and I've been
00:16:46doing drag in that city for about 16 years. So everything I've learned on those streets,
00:16:51I'm bringing to the main stage and there are some cutthroat bitches coming from Miami. And
00:16:56I'm here to slay, to show my gorgeous, gorgeous drag, my goddess presence, and just to bless
00:17:04the other contestants with all that is Athena Dion. Athena Dion lives at like the crossroad
00:17:10of luxury and glamour. My style is, it's a mixture of like good old-fashioned drag, drag, mixed
00:17:17with couture, glamour, a touch of a heavenly essence, you know, something to that effect.
00:17:23I mean, I am a goddess after all. So I think I do infuse that into my drag. You know, I'm
00:17:28inspired by a lot of celebrities. If we're going to talk celebrity-wise, mother's share.
00:17:32Do you believe in life after love? Celine Dion, my namesake, you know. Personally, my mother
00:17:39is a big inspiration of mine. She was the dragiest drag queen in my life growing up. So this is
00:17:44all her fault, to be honest.
00:17:49You know, I think my motherly personality, I think all my experience will help me the most
00:17:54in this competition. I've been doing this for a really long time. I know the girls will
00:17:57underestimate me because I do look very young. I look like one of the youngest girls on the
00:18:02cast, actually. So I don't think they know that I've been doing it for so long, but I
00:18:07am a very tight package full of wisdom and knowledge, just like the goddess Athena.
00:18:17You want me to expose my, if I tell you my signature scent right now, every little crossdresser
00:18:22across the country is going to go out and buy it, and it's not going to be mine and mine
00:18:25alone anymore. Do you want me to really spill the tea? Okay, I'll give you this. I do have
00:18:30all of Cher's perfumes. She came out with a line of perfumes from every decade, from the
00:18:3460s to the early 2000s, and depending on my mood, I will wear those. That's not my signature
00:18:38scent, though. I'll do this. I'll tell you the brand of my signature scent, but I won't
00:18:41tell you which one it is. My signature scent smells like a powerful badass bitch, with hints
00:18:48of oud and wood as well. She's a woody queen. It's by Mancera, but I'm not giving you which
00:18:55one it is. Back off, bitches.
00:18:59Baby, I've been doing my big one, honey. I've been doing my big one since 2009, so it only
00:19:02gets bigger, better, and faster, and longer, and stronger, and everything else, all of the
00:19:07above, honey. D, all of the above. I have been America's next drag superstar. I'm just here
00:19:12to pick up the check and the crown. Snap, snap, snap, honey. I want to cross my leg, but that
00:19:19sounds like a lot of work. I designed this look. I designed all my legs. I'm going to
00:19:21try to sit back just slightly so I can get a little... I got it. So we got full body on
00:19:26this. If I just sat down and didn't talk at all, you'd probably think, like, oh, little
00:19:29lady. I just can't stop. Like, I just have, like, the gift of gab.
00:19:33My name is Briar Blush, and I'm from Boston, Massachusetts. The Boston trait that I'm bringing
00:19:42is deep-rooted self-loathing and being a huge f***hole. I am Boston's pinup princess. I'm,
00:19:51like, the it girl of any time or place. The thing about Briar Blush is that her drag is
00:19:56timeless, retro-feeling, but modern. It's, like, I exist on my own timeline of history.
00:20:03Okay, so there was a really beautiful doll photographer artist, and she had a doll named
00:20:11Briar that she would photograph, and I thought that name was so f***edress mother, and I just
00:20:17like that it was androgynous. Beautiful girls with androgynous names to me are, like, really,
00:20:20really f***ed. I love that vibe. I consider myself a creative, and my style comes from everything
00:20:29that is really important to me. I was really goth as a teenager. I was really
00:20:33into Turner Classic movies. I was really into people like Dita Von Teese, Nancy Sinatra,
00:20:38love Jane Birkin, love Sophia Loren, love Priscilla Presley. Duh. And all those things kind of congealed
00:20:45into the life form that I am. So Briar's not alternative. She's not not alternative. I'll
00:20:50put it that way. I remember really early into my drag career, I performed some whack goth song
00:20:54at a hip hop night, made a total of three dollars. And I was like, damn, I can't even get a Wendy's
00:21:00four for four. And this other girl in the dressing room hands me another dollar and goes, here,
00:21:04that's my tip for you. Now you can get one. Isn't that beautiful? I was so shocked that she felt bad
00:21:09and gave me a dollar. I love horror movies. Body horror, but I also like suspense. Like I was a fan
00:21:15of the original Nosferatu and the French version. I've seen all of them and I loved them. Actually,
00:21:21I will say the new Nosferatu, he was so hot. They gave him like too much sex appeal, to be honest.
00:21:266'7", like tall mustache, deep voice, has a property, clearly has money to spend. But can I tell you
00:21:34something? Sometimes when guys are so tall, like when they're like hit like 6'4 and above,
00:21:38they start to slouch in a way that's like kind of hot to me. Because you're like, oh, you're so tall.
00:21:43Like, oh, that must be so . I'm like 5'5". There is nothing anybody could ever say to me
00:21:53that would throw me off, like of how I feel about myself. It's a double edged sword that I both don't
00:21:59care what anyone says, but I also don't care at all. Like, and it's sometimes becomes a problem.
00:22:04My big one. Sure. I'll do my big one. Why the hell not? Why the hell not?
00:22:10I'm America's Next Drag Superstar because I claim it as my destiny.
00:22:20Caught that. Oh, my signature scent is definitely mozzarella sticks with ranch.
00:22:27I may smell good during the number, but you're probably going to recognize the smell of mozzarella sticks.
00:22:36My name is Sierra Miss and I'm the shape-shifting superstar of Indianapolis, Indiana.
00:22:41Indiana is known for bad politics and a lot of corn, so I'm leaving those at home
00:22:47and I'm bringing good drag and creativity to the competition.
00:22:50I don't think that the culture from Indiana influences my drag tastes or aesthetic necessarily.
00:22:56Those are rooted really in like my childhood love, superheroes, comic books, sci-fi fantasy,
00:23:02all of the things that I would draw as a kid.
00:23:04I don't know. I am pretty strange, so like picking the strangest thing is really weird.
00:23:11I think Tony the Tiger is attractive.
00:23:16I am going on 32 years old and I still love Power Rangers.
00:23:22I mean, I'm a sucker for the classics because I'm a millennial.
00:23:25I realized I was different when I had a crush on both Kimberly and Tommy,
00:23:29but I think that In Space or Lost Galaxy, for the nerds out there,
00:23:33those are kind of like fabulous seasons second to Mighty Morphin.
00:23:37So are we talking Tommy Green or Tommy White?
00:23:40I mean, Tommy Green is the bad boy, but Tommy White is like so fierce.
00:23:44When he comes down from the ceiling and like the ray of light, that's drag.
00:23:48That's drag.
00:23:50And then they were like, they shared a Zord together and I was like, that's kind of hot.
00:23:54Off camera, we'll tell you.
00:23:56In drag, I embody every comic book superhero that I ever had a crush on.
00:24:02I am X-Men characters.
00:24:04I am just jumping out of the pages of a comic book.
00:24:07I get to be that superhero badass strong woman who is both feminine, sexy, soft,
00:24:13but also could absolutely beat your ass.
00:24:16Will I do my big one?
00:24:18Like in the toilet?
00:24:22Sure, I'll do my big one.
00:24:24Yeah, why not?
00:24:26Okay, girls.
00:24:27Yeah, move aside.
00:24:28I'll do my big one.
00:24:29Will I do my big one this season?
00:24:31I'll do my huge one.
00:24:36I am America's next drag superstar because not only does she have to look good and I look incredible,
00:24:43she has to have something important to say.
00:24:45Life is chaotic and crazy and this world is messed up right now.
00:24:50And we as a country, as a people, as a queer community deserve a drag superstar who is not only fierce,
00:24:58who is not only wonderful to look at, but can champion equality, diversity, and stand up to all of the up that's happening in this world.
00:25:08We need a superhero and Sierra Mist is your superhero.
00:25:16I will not be shablammin' or twirlin' around the stage anytime soon.
00:25:23Oh, you're not shablammin'?
00:25:24Oh no, that's a long way down, girl.
00:25:30I'm Darlene Mitchell and I'm from Los Angeles, California.
00:25:33I was born and raised in a small town in Indiana, actually.
00:25:36So I'm a, I'm a transplant.
00:25:39How I describe myself is a little country, a little and a whole lot of camp.
00:25:43Because I definitely like to include this, like, Midwestern country, like, through line.
00:25:48Darlene's aesthetic is very, like, boxed wine cigarette after cigarette.
00:25:52You know what I mean?
00:25:53Like, very much that woman.
00:25:54And I'm kind of, like, the exact opposite of that.
00:25:57When they find out that I'm, like, a long time sober and, like, pretty chill and easy, you know, easy to get along with and pretty sweet,
00:26:04that they're kind of like, whoa, this is a turn.
00:26:09The very first song that I ever performed to was Rihanna, S&M.
00:26:15I was the door girl for free on a Tuesday.
00:26:19They were like, do you know what?
00:26:20Like, do you want to, like, do a number?
00:26:22And I'm like, yeah, for these five people.
00:26:24So I was like, you know what?
00:26:25S&M.
00:26:26Hit it.
00:26:27I had the time of my life.
00:26:28Ooh, my biggest inspiration.
00:26:30My favorite person in the entire world is Dolly Parton.
00:26:34I have a Dolly Parton shower curtain.
00:26:38I'm engaged.
00:26:39Is Dollywood the honeymoon?
00:26:40I don't know.
00:26:41We'll see.
00:26:43Bring back more mall drag.
00:26:45These designers, get them out of here.
00:26:48Bring back the $5 bin.
00:26:50I want the iddiest, bittiest, little slutty jeans skirt.
00:26:54You know?
00:26:55Little spaghetti strap tank top.
00:26:57Give me a little butterfly necklace.
00:27:00You know?
00:27:0195% alcohol perfume.
00:27:03Like, I want the dollar store on heels.
00:27:07Give me mall drag.
00:27:08One trend that I feel like I would definitely have to chop is the rock-hard solid sculpted wigs with the rhinestones all over.
00:27:15Chop.
00:27:16Even though I might own a couple.
00:27:20See?
00:27:21Here's the thing.
00:27:22I don't know if I suffer from drag delusion.
00:27:24I'm aware that some of my tastes, you know, are not popular among the room.
00:27:29But I'm not saying that it's, you know, the best or that it is, you know, better than anyone else's.
00:27:36It's just, I'm sticking to my guns, you know?
00:27:38Like, I feel very glamorous in this $5 thong and tank top.
00:27:42Like, in hard front mullet.
00:27:44Like, I'm sorry you don't think so, but it's not stopping me.
00:27:48This season, I am doing the big one.
00:27:53You're going to see Darlene Mitchell all the way to the end, honey.
00:27:57We are taking that crown and we are doing it in a pair of jean shorts.
00:28:02And we're going to go back to that mall drag.
00:28:05Mall drag taking over the world.
00:28:07I'm America's Next Dark Superstar because I feel like I offer a fresh perspective.
00:28:12You know what I mean?
00:28:13And it's time to shake it up.
00:28:14Let people know that this is something that is fun and it's self-expression.
00:28:19And it's just pedal to the metal.
00:28:21Like, I'm just like ready to rock and roll.
00:28:24Oh my God, I can say whatever I want.
00:28:26I can just lie about who I am.
00:28:28I've been doing drag for 15 years and I am the most beautiful woman on earth.
00:28:33Are we playing Two Truths and a Lie now?
00:28:35I'm a virgin.
00:28:36No!
00:28:41Hola, I am Didi Fuego and I am from Monterrey, Mexico.
00:28:46But I currently live in New York City.
00:28:48Should I do it in Spanish?
00:28:50Hola, I am Didi Fuego, I am from Monterrey, Mexico.
00:28:53And I live in the city of New York.
00:28:55That is so stupid.
00:28:57I am bringing the high excellence in talent from New York City.
00:29:03New York is a hard city to make it in.
00:29:06And I've made it.
00:29:08Oh my God, I think I just found my light.
00:29:12Didi Fuego is fashionable.
00:29:15She is beautiful.
00:29:17She is stupid.
00:29:19And she's very handsome.
00:29:24I make my mixes, I make my clothes.
00:29:26I didn't make all of this, but I'm involved.
00:29:29Because I am what?
00:29:30Too poor to hire anyone.
00:29:32So in this competition, what's going to help me the most is that I can do everything.
00:29:38I'm not saying I'm 10s across the board.
00:29:40But I'm like a nice 7.5s at everything.
00:29:44I can give you talents of all kinds, makings of all kinds.
00:29:49And there's nothing I can do badly except maybe like, I throw a ball.
00:29:53Because I have like a weird arm thing.
00:29:55From birth.
00:29:57Like I can't connect this arm to my body without hurting.
00:30:00Like I just can't.
00:30:01And I can't like open my arms.
00:30:03Like I'd be a really bad like server and be like.
00:30:07That's like as far as it goes.
00:30:09Do I have any hidden talents?
00:30:12No, if I have a talent, I am going to monetize it.
00:30:15I can dance fine and I can also give you a little comedy.
00:30:17And what I usually do is I'll have a reveal.
00:30:19Or two or three.
00:30:20So while the girl is doing the split, which we've seen before.
00:30:24Didi Fuego is pulling out all the stops elsewhere.
00:30:27She's a production, honey.
00:30:29My fan base.
00:30:30Oof.
00:30:31I have so many 10s of them.
00:30:33Do they have a name?
00:30:34I don't know.
00:30:35We should come up with one.
00:30:36Like my Flamers.
00:30:37My Fuegitos.
00:30:39Didi's BBs.
00:30:41I need to work on them.
00:30:43As soon as I get fans, I'll let you know what they're called.
00:30:45So far they're called my mom, my dad.
00:30:49I'll have to find a name for them when there's more than four.
00:30:52I'm America's next drag superstar because I am Mexican, American, queer, Middle Eastern,
00:30:59and from New York.
00:31:00I am the president's worst nightmare.
00:31:03And I look like one of his future wives.
00:31:05But America needs someone like me to bring us together.
00:31:08To set the record straight, if you are rooting for me, you are rooting for America.
00:31:13Crown the Latina!
00:31:16La Corona será mia!
00:31:18Mia!
00:31:19Also, you know, because I have big teeth, a small waist, and small eyes.
00:31:25So I'm ready to go.
00:31:27I already have my all-stars teeth, but I'm not planning on going.
00:31:29I'm going to win this one.
00:31:31I might have been born just plain white trash, but Fancy was my name.
00:31:38What is that from?
00:31:40Fancy by Reba McIntyre.
00:31:42You've heard that song.
00:31:44You've heard Reba.
00:31:45You know her.
00:31:47Fancy by Reba McIntyre.
00:31:52Hi, I'm Discord Adams.
00:31:53I'm from St. Pete, Florida.
00:31:55See, it's hard to say because I grew up doing drag in Ohio, and then I moved to Chicago,
00:31:59and then I moved to St. Pete.
00:32:00So I'm just kind of bringing Discord to the show.
00:32:03I'm not really bringing like a specific, you know, city type of representation to the show, I wouldn't say.
00:32:08I would describe myself as a high fashion punk rock maximalist.
00:32:12I want to wear everything.
00:32:17If you haven't noticed, I always say like, when I look in the mirror, instead of taking one thing off,
00:32:21I want to put on two more necklaces and like three more bracelets.
00:32:24I want it to look like if a transformer was a church.
00:32:29Like I'm a church that's on fire, but I'm like a human.
00:32:32Who's to say?
00:32:34I would say growing up, there was a really big punk scene where I lived.
00:32:38So throughout high school and all of that, I was really involved in going to shows.
00:32:42In the punk scene, it's all very DIY.
00:32:44So you're making your jackets, making your clothes.
00:32:46You can see a lot of the music that I listened to in my drag style.
00:32:51The Dead Kennedys, Rancid, the Sex Pistols, a little bit of classic rocks like Aerosmith.
00:32:56I channel like a mixture between like Lady Gaga and Mick Jagger.
00:32:59The first song I ever performed in drag was Teeth by Lady Gaga.
00:33:04I looked like my makeup was far too pale.
00:33:07I looked like a zombie Cher stomping around in a bra and panties.
00:33:13I felt fierce.
00:33:14But like when you look back on it, it's very funny.
00:33:16I'm just weird.
00:33:18I can't touch velvet.
00:33:20If I touch velvet, my fingers cry.
00:33:23And then I have to like lick them to like reset the feeling.
00:33:26That way I don't feel the velvet anymore.
00:33:28It makes my fingers feel like dry.
00:33:30Like it's sucking all the moisture out of them or something.
00:33:33Similar to like microfiber.
00:33:34I don't want to touch that either.
00:33:35I don't know.
00:33:36Ask my fingers.
00:33:37Not me.
00:33:38I would love to be able to put on a velvet dress.
00:33:39It's just awful.
00:33:42If I could bring back one trend in drag, it should be makeup.
00:33:45The girls stopped wearing makeup for a while.
00:33:47We need more blush, more eyeliner, more lip liner.
00:33:51Like we're drag queens.
00:33:53Like look like a drag queen.
00:33:54What is trending right now in drag?
00:33:57I think we're on the right track right now.
00:33:59I think.
00:34:00Oh, but like, I think like if you want to wear nothing,
00:34:02at least make it look good.
00:34:04But I hate when the girls just like tie like a shoe string
00:34:06around their nipples.
00:34:07And they're like, look how fierce I look.
00:34:09It's like, no.
00:34:10Like, put on some stuff.
00:34:13Will you do your big one this season?
00:34:15My what?
00:34:16Will you do your big one?
00:34:17What's that mean?
00:34:20Um, okay.
00:34:22Yeah, I'm absolutely going to have my big one this season.
00:34:24I mean, look how fierce I look.
00:34:26Hello.
00:34:27I'm America's next drag superstar because I am bringing punk rock
00:34:31to the main stage.
00:34:32I am bringing a sense of fashion that the girls have not seen
00:34:36before.
00:34:37And I just want to be an advocate for like the underdog and an
00:34:41advocate for people who are getting treated poorly in this
00:34:45country.
00:34:46We need drag queens who are going to say more about what's
00:34:48happening instead of saying less.
00:34:50Oh, yeah.
00:34:51Get the fog in there.
00:34:52Really cover up that skin texture, baby.
00:34:54Oh, yeah, baby.
00:34:55I want it to look like you're seeing me like you just took a fat
00:34:59vape rip.
00:35:00That's where I look my best.
00:35:08Hi, my name is Jane Don't.
00:35:10I'm 32 and I am from beautiful Seattle, Washington.
00:35:14What is drag like in Seattle?
00:35:17Um, really good.
00:35:19I don't know.
00:35:20I feel like we're having like a Seattle moment.
00:35:21You know, my sisters Bosco and Irene just came through and
00:35:24stormed all stars.
00:35:26Irene and Bosco are two of my best friends and two of my mortal
00:35:31enemies.
00:35:32Historically, alternative drag is kind of the thing in Seattle.
00:35:36Like that's, I started as like a real weirdo.
00:35:38Not like now where I'm a beautiful glamorous woman.
00:35:40I think I'm standing in that legacy very strong.
00:35:43I'm a lawyer by day.
00:35:44I have a nine to five.
00:35:45I'm a wife, a mother, a woman of God.
00:35:48Um, but there is something wrong with me.
00:35:51Clearly.
00:35:54Ah, you know, here's the thing about my drag name.
00:35:56It's not that fun of a story.
00:35:57I just used to smoke a lot of weed in college.
00:35:59I don't do that anymore because I get too scared.
00:36:02I think legal weed is way too strong.
00:36:04One time while I was really high, I just thought of the name
00:36:06Jane Don't.
00:36:07And I was like, if I ever do drag, that's the name.
00:36:09And I literally, I've never thought of like another drag.
00:36:11Like it, it really, it was that.
00:36:13That was my great American novel.
00:36:14It was that.
00:36:15It was a beautiful burst of creativity.
00:36:17And ever since then I've been extremely, um, yeah.
00:36:20Just, just boring sort of flat from there.
00:36:23Never come up with anything else.
00:36:24What did you think when you first saw Blaine Jane?
00:36:26I am the first Jane.
00:36:27She's plain.
00:36:28I understand that naturally you don't want to call her plain
00:36:29because it's a crazy name, but that's not my problem.
00:36:32But also I would get her hate mail online sometimes.
00:36:35Like people would tag me on tweets and stuff.
00:36:37And I'm just, you know, I'm at brunch minding my business.
00:36:40What kind of drag do I do?
00:36:43I want to say conceptual, but I feel like when you say
00:36:46you're conceptual, people just like think you're going to
00:36:48kind of look ugly.
00:36:49So, uh, just good.
00:36:51Can I say good?
00:36:52I do good drag.
00:36:54And, and sexy drag.
00:36:57Hot.
00:36:58Hot.
00:36:59You got a right now.
00:37:01What's your signature scent in your drag?
00:37:03Oh my God.
00:37:04What a good question.
00:37:05Is this new?
00:37:06First of all, half these bitches do not have a signature scent.
00:37:08I think I might have brought the most perfume to the competition.
00:37:11My signature scent, it's, it's by a, I'm going to be a douchebag again.
00:37:15Sorry.
00:37:16It's, uh, it's called Ode Protection.
00:37:19So the like top notes are really floral.
00:37:21It's like Jasmine.
00:37:22Pheromone.
00:37:23Which is like synthetic blood smell.
00:37:26Like civet.
00:37:27Or like animalistics in fragrance.
00:37:29You smell like a really, so she was like, I'm really wealthy.
00:37:32I bought it for her.
00:37:33I love fragrance.
00:37:34I will talk about fragrance.
00:37:35Like we could do, we could do two hours on that alone.
00:37:37Will I do my big one this season?
00:37:39Yeah.
00:37:40Why not?
00:37:41That could be fun.
00:37:42That's like what the kids are saying, right?
00:37:44They're doing, yeah.
00:37:45What is, what is, what would be like the definition of doing your big one?
00:37:48Having an impactful moment.
00:37:50Oh, I'm going to have several of those.
00:37:53I am America's Next Drag Superstar because I think that it's time that a nice lady was crowned.
00:38:02Let's do our big one.
00:38:04I can put my leg behind my head, but I actually physically just can't show you right now.
00:38:09I can't show you that I can do that.
00:38:12Just believe that I can put my leg behind my head.
00:38:14I can believe that.
00:38:15You can believe that?
00:38:17You think I'm flexible?
00:38:22My name is Juicy Love Dion and I'm from Miami, Florida.
00:38:27The only special part of Florida.
00:38:30South Florida, best part of Florida.
00:38:32And you can tell them I said that.
00:38:35One of my drag mothers is here.
00:38:37My drag grandmother.
00:38:39She hates when I say that, so I won't say it too loud.
00:38:41My name is Athena Dion.
00:38:43She is also the mother of Morphine Love Dion, who is also my mother.
00:38:47The family tree is like all over the place, okay?
00:38:49It all started back in the day.
00:38:51I was a senior in high school and Morphine Love just scooped me up and said, you're going
00:38:56to be in my next drag number ever.
00:38:58She snuck me into the club and like from that day I was born and then she introduced me to
00:39:03Athena and Athena was like, okay, Morphine.
00:39:05It's like when someone has a kid too young and like grandma has to take care, but then grandma
00:39:10becomes a mama.
00:39:11Exactly.
00:39:12I feel like I'm very like Latina.
00:39:15I give you like all that Latina sexiness, vibe, the beauty, the gorgeous face.
00:39:21But mix in like a little club kid, androgyny, always playing on that line of like, you know,
00:39:27abstract, but still and sexy.
00:39:29I used to be very, very, very, very like punk, always in black latex, red latex.
00:39:34But now I'm going more like, I want to feel more elegant.
00:39:39I had someone say to me one time, a gorgeous older Greek man say, you are not punk.
00:39:44You are gorgeous.
00:39:45You are elegant.
00:39:46And I have had those words in my head forever.
00:39:49So I'm sticking to it.
00:39:50I'm sticking to that gorgeous, elegant poise, but with a little twist, you know?
00:39:59YSL East St. Laurent Libre.
00:40:02That is like, that smell is me in drag.
00:40:09It smells like a princess.
00:40:11It smells like maybe I was just with my boyfriend and my perfume and his cologne mixed.
00:40:17Libre is, yeah, it's that girl.
00:40:22It's that scent.
00:40:23It smells like me.
00:40:24Smell Libre and you'll smell juicy.
00:40:26Okay, what's the strangest thing about this?
00:40:32Strange?
00:40:33I don't know.
00:40:34I don't think I'm strange.
00:40:36I'm not like Briar.
00:40:37Briar is very strange.
00:40:38Briar is a very strange individual.
00:40:40Okay.
00:40:41Clock it.
00:40:42You'll see.
00:40:43One time she did come up to me, she goes, smell my finger.
00:40:46Listen, I had to go.
00:40:49One trend I would like to get rid of, mono booty.
00:40:54Yes, you're padded, but if you don't have an ass crack in pads, I'm sorry.
00:40:57It looks crazy.
00:40:58It's one butt and you have a G string on and there's no indentation.
00:41:02That is criminal.
00:41:04Baby, I've been doing my big one.
00:41:08I've been doing my big one.
00:41:09I'll do my big one.
00:41:10I'll do my big one and then I'll do it again.
00:41:12I am America's next drag superstar because you've never had a girl this sickening and gorgeous
00:41:21and stupid and funny and with this much of a lack of references and this good of a dancer
00:41:32and this Latina and this Cuban before.
00:41:37Oh my God, I improvised it.
00:41:40I'm an improv queen actually.
00:41:42Really good at improv.
00:41:44I think I have a very good voice.
00:41:48Like I have a really good announcer voice.
00:41:50So I can really project my voice like, are you ready drag fans?
00:41:53Let's do this.
00:41:54I'm doing Meet the Queens here on season 18 of RuPaul's Drag Race.
00:41:58Tune in only on MTV.
00:42:01Yeah.
00:42:02I say that I'm like a Barry White mixed with Lizzo.
00:42:04I love that.
00:42:07I am Kenya Pleaser all the way from South Carolina.
00:42:13Bitch, South Cackalacky bitch.
00:42:15They are going to gag to see my ass on this show.
00:42:18That's that little boy from the church.
00:42:20That is going to be crazy.
00:42:22It's going to be crazy.
00:42:23Hey.
00:42:24Mwah.
00:42:25The number one trait from South Carolina that I'm bringing is my humbleness.
00:42:30Being from the South bitch, you always have to be humble because that's the only way you are going to succeed in life.
00:42:35If you're not humble bitch, you won't get .
00:42:38You all what you eat.
00:42:39And I eat kindness.
00:42:41The drag that I do is, I was about to lie.
00:42:46Bitch.
00:42:47I was about to say it's big.
00:42:48Bitch, I'm big.
00:42:49No.
00:42:50It's sexy and it can be your auntie at the same time.
00:42:51Very much that type of tea.
00:42:52And I like older things like the 80s, 90s, different things like that.
00:42:56And I love to mix everything into one and cultivate it with old school drag that meets new school.
00:43:01It's like I'm decked under my jewelry and everything.
00:43:03And I got my little brothel outfit on like a little whore house in Texas.
00:43:06But it's still sexy, you know.
00:43:09Honey, one thing that you can get and bet your bottom dollar, bottom, from Kenya Pleaser is bitch, I'm going to kick that mother leg until it touches my forehead, honey.
00:43:19My leg could go, oh.
00:43:21Oh .
00:43:22And just imagine a big girl doing that.
00:43:24It's like a gag.
00:43:25If someone were to play me in a movie, I want it to be Shirley Ralph.
00:43:29I don't want them to do CGI like they did Will Smith in that one movie.
00:43:32I want Shirley Ralph to play me right now.
00:43:35Singing does not pay the bills.
00:43:37I want that Shirley Ralph to play me, bitch.
00:43:40That's from Sister Act.
00:43:41I know some of you white bitches don't know that.
00:43:42So Kenya Pleaser is so stupid.
00:43:44I want it to have a pun name because I think it's funny when a really sexy girl has like a campy name.
00:43:49So I was like, oh my God, can you feel your beats?
00:43:51Can you do this?
00:43:52Can you do that?
00:43:53Can you do that?
00:43:54Can you take it?
00:43:55Can you take her?
00:43:56And I was like, wait.
00:43:57Pleaser.
00:43:58Can you please her?
00:43:59Kenya Pleaser.
00:44:00And do you know people don't get my name when they first hear it?
00:44:03Like, bitch, what?
00:44:05Will you do your big one this season?
00:44:08My big one?
00:44:09Bitch, I am the big one, honey.
00:44:12In the words of mistress Isabelle Brooks, do your big one twin, bitch.
00:44:15I think I am.
00:44:16I really think I'm bringing something to this competition that the world has never seen.
00:44:21The Pleaser experience.
00:44:22The Pleaser effect is in full motion, darling.
00:44:24I am America's next drag superstar because I represent all those little plus size chunky dark skinned boys from small country towns that never had a chance to see yourself on television, honey.
00:44:37Those boys who you thought you would never leave your hometown.
00:44:41You will always be up under your mothers and grandmothers and going to church and doing bullshit.
00:44:46And you want to just be fabulous and gay.
00:44:48I am America's next drag superstar because I represent those people, honey.
00:44:53I represent the black community.
00:44:55Every time I cinch my fat ass into this corset, I bat my eyelashes.
00:45:00It is a political statement.
00:45:02And that's why me, Kenya Pleaser, should be the next drag superstar.
00:45:09My signature move.
00:45:11Sometimes I like to do this thing where I lift my leg up and then I get twirled my foot and I do a little kick.
00:45:17It doesn't really look cute right now, but I promise you with legs like these, it will look cute.
00:45:26My name is Mandy Mango.
00:45:28I'm the sweetest fruit in Philadelphia.
00:45:31The drag scene in Philadelphia is very diverse, very eclectic.
00:45:34We have our teeny boppers.
00:45:36We have our mama whoppers.
00:45:38We have some flippity floppers and some daddy toppers.
00:45:41The mango part is inspired off the carabao, which is the Filipino mango, which has recently ranked the sweetest mango in the world.
00:45:50So I think that says a lot about me.
00:45:52I'm also fruity.
00:45:53I'm Filipina and I'm not genetically modified.
00:45:57I'm a first generation Filipino American.
00:46:01Growing up has always been strange trying to figure out if I'm Filipino enough, American enough or not enough either on top of being queer.
00:46:10So drag has really guided my journey in understanding my identity.
00:46:15My biggest drag inspiration, I would say would be my mom.
00:46:19My mom was a pageant queen in the Philippines.
00:46:22She won best evening gown in Miss Baguio, Philippines, 1987.
00:46:26And I think she should have took the crown, but that's fine.
00:46:29We'll talk about that another time.
00:46:30I would say Mandy was born with my first drag show in college.
00:46:34I performed to Took the Night by Chelly.
00:46:37She won the show and she clearly took the night.
00:46:40Ooh, the strangest thing about me.
00:46:43I don't like to eat oranges and I've never peeled an orange.
00:46:46Some people don't believe me and they think that's strange.
00:46:51I have eaten an orange and I didn't really like it.
00:46:54So then I just stopped trying.
00:46:56It just looked like a dollar effort anyways.
00:46:58So I was like, I'm not going to eat that.
00:47:00I'll stick to my mangoes.
00:47:01Do you just literally start peeling the skin with your fingers and your nails?
00:47:05Do you need to have nails to do this?
00:47:07I can't do anything with these.
00:47:09I can't type on my phone.
00:47:11I can't wipe my butt.
00:47:13It looks really pretty.
00:47:14I know, but there's things I need to do.
00:47:16And I'm a woman who likes to do a lot of things.
00:47:18So nails sometimes get in the way.
00:47:20I also work as a registered nurse in HIV and sexual health.
00:47:24I can do vena punctures.
00:47:25I can do liver elastography.
00:47:27I can do head to toe assessments.
00:47:29I can do subcutaneous intramuscular injections.
00:47:33Subdermal vaccines.
00:47:36I have a lot of talents and skills, some might say.
00:47:43Oh, you want to see my big one?
00:47:44You want to see the big one?
00:47:46What other opportunity than to bring the big one for season 18 of RuPaul's Drag Race, okay?
00:47:52I am America's next drag superstar because I'm sweet, I'm smart, I'm sexy, and I'm credentialed!
00:48:01I might be a part-time entertainer, but I'm a full-time drag queen.
00:48:06And if you think that the responsibility of a drag queen ends at the four walls of a venue, then you are mistaken.
00:48:12I make sure that I advocate for my community in and out of a show, in and out of the clinic, because as queer people we have lives that we celebrate, lives that we get sad about, lives that we laugh about.
00:48:25And I want to take care of that for our community.
00:48:30Every time I could get into drag, I am my mother.
00:48:33I look in the mirror, I'm like, oh shit, I'm my mom.
00:48:35It's so funny.
00:48:37And the older that I'm getting, I'm acting like her a lot more as well.
00:48:41It pisses me off.
00:48:43My name is Mia Star, and I am from West Palm Beach, Florida.
00:48:51West Palm Beach.
00:48:53I bring choreography.
00:48:56I am a dancer queen, hip-hop dancer queen.
00:49:01That is me.
00:49:02Not so much on the technicality side.
00:49:04Not the ballet stuff, like real hood hip-hop stuff.
00:49:08That's Mia Star.
00:49:09My style is very urban.
00:49:11It's very slutty.
00:49:14I'm a whore.
00:49:16I love to sing.
00:49:18I am a singer first.
00:49:20Like, I did do a gospel album back in 2018.
00:49:24I released it.
00:49:25It's, yeah, I love singing.
00:49:28I don't do it as often now, but that's like where my heart and soul is.
00:49:33That's my first love.
00:49:34I love singing.
00:49:36To be honest, I started in 2008, and I took a 14 and a half year break.
00:49:43I moved to Los Angeles to pursue dancing.
00:49:45I was able to perform and go on world tours with Britney Spears for her Vegas residency.
00:49:51Paulina Rubio.
00:49:52I've been on tour with Rihanna, her loud tour in 2011.
00:49:56I'm showing my age.
00:49:57I've been on tour with Camila Cabello.
00:49:59I'm actually the lead dancer in her Havana video.
00:50:04So I'm like the Mr. Havana himself.
00:50:08Spoiler alert!
00:50:10We're a woman now.
00:50:15Whoa!
00:50:16So yes, it's changed so much, but it's really cool to be able to come back with all the knowledge
00:50:23that I've learned from the greatest of the greats and now apply that to myself.
00:50:28I think what's going to help me the most is just being myself.
00:50:31I can't, you know, look to the left and right and be like, well, damn, I don't have that.
00:50:35Not to say I don't do it, but I, you know, I try not to do it as often as I see Athena
00:50:42Dion do it.
00:50:45The strangest thing about me is I curl my toes when I sleep.
00:50:50My boyfriend just told me that.
00:50:52I don't know why, but I crunch my toes all the time.
00:50:56He's like, stop crunching your toes.
00:50:58My signature scent in drag is a body mist from Bath & Body Works.
00:51:04You can get three for three.
00:51:06It is amazing.
00:51:08Listen, I know girls, they make fun of me.
00:51:10But anytime I walk into a room, people, they give me compliments about it.
00:51:14It's called something gorgeous, like gingham gorgeous something.
00:51:20I don't know.
00:51:21Look, I just look for the three for threes.
00:51:24I am going to do my big one this season.
00:51:27No matter who is in my way, y'all gotta go.
00:51:30I am America's next drag superstar because I am a bad bitch.
00:51:36Okay.
00:51:38Oh, who is my biggest inspiration?
00:51:41I do think Sasha Colby is a really big inspiration.
00:51:43I mean, to me, she's drag excellence.
00:51:45And Spongebob.
00:51:48Hi, I'm Mikey Meeks and I'm from the city beautiful Orlando, Florida.
00:52:00My keys.
00:52:01Get it?
00:52:02My keys.
00:52:03Okay.
00:52:04Highbrow comedy here.
00:52:07The doors I've opened.
00:52:09Please take these cat toys out of my hand.
00:52:12Mikey is my real name.
00:52:13Mikey is my real name.
00:52:14I just spell it more androgynous.
00:52:16And I thought I spelled it phonetically because I spell it the normal way out of drag.
00:52:20In drag, it's M-Y-K-I.
00:52:22But people still don't know how to say it, but it's Mikey, right?
00:52:25Not Mickey.
00:52:26Not Meeky.
00:52:27And then Meeks is a nickname that my best friends gave me.
00:52:29So I assume my own nickname is put together.
00:52:31Mikey Meeks, honey.
00:52:32My full legal drag name is Dr. Michaela Meekerson.
00:52:37MD.
00:52:38MD.
00:52:39And the MD stands for mental disorder.
00:52:44I think of myself as a dynamic theatrical powerhouse.
00:52:48I do a little bit of everything.
00:52:50Theater is my upbringing.
00:52:52I call myself a recovering theater girl because I had traumas in the past.
00:52:55But I love going for old Hollywood glamour mixed with a little bit of party girl.
00:53:00So I'm a cross between Ava Gardner and Charlie X.
00:53:03I think my gut instinct will help me the most.
00:53:09It's gotten me this far.
00:53:10I've always kind of had my eyes on the goal and I get what I want.
00:53:14And that's not me being cocky.
00:53:16That's just, I know what I can do and I know what I'm worth.
00:53:19So I just got to keep that and listen to it.
00:53:21Hidden talent.
00:53:22No, I'm very obnoxious and I show all my talents, but very good at Super Smash Brothers.
00:53:28Is that a hidden talent?
00:53:29What's the strangest thing about you?
00:53:32Ooh, I tend to like, the queens call it powering down.
00:53:38So like when I'm overstimulated or I'm just like deep in thought, I look like someone hit my off switch.
00:53:43I'm just like, the girls will be like, oh, Mikey's down.
00:53:48Mikey power up.
00:53:49You're powering down.
00:53:50Power back up.
00:53:51Power back up.
00:53:52I think we all suffer from drag.
00:53:53I think drag delusion is a spectrum and we're all on that spectrum.
00:53:56Okay.
00:53:57Because I'm sure I'm going to look back a year from now and be like, oops, that's a boot.
00:54:00Like that's, that's a miss.
00:54:01I missed something there.
00:54:02But as for my confidence, no.
00:54:06But as for my aesthetic, probably.
00:54:09Will you do your big one this season?
00:54:11Oh my, what the .
00:54:15Mistress Isabel Brooks write this question.
00:54:17Am I going to do my big one this season?
00:54:19Of course.
00:54:20I'm looking for a big one after this.
00:54:23Do your big one, honey.
00:54:25I am America's next drag superstar because I know my star potential is ready for that next level.
00:54:33I have a whole city of people chanting my name.
00:54:37I hope to make them proud and hopefully a whole new legion of people to impress as well.
00:54:42Honestly, I know everything about me and there's nothing else you can tell me.
00:54:46I'm not delusional.
00:54:47I'm not delusional.
00:54:48I'm trying to be more delusional.
00:54:49I'm more delusional.
00:54:50I'm trying to be like, no, I am the greatest thing.
00:54:53You can't tell me anything.
00:54:55To me, what was the question?
00:54:59Hi, my name is Nene Coco.
00:55:05I am 29 and I am from Denver, Colorado.
00:55:09So Nene Coco is not a complicated name at all.
00:55:13It comes from my out of drag name.
00:55:14My out of drag name is Nico Nene Coco.
00:55:18It was very simple.
00:55:20I feel like my drag is an extension of my out of drag self.
00:55:23It's not this completely different persona.
00:55:25So it feels really close to who I am and who I've always been.
00:55:28I love super sharp, super colorful, very bold silhouettes.
00:55:33Everything that I wear has to be sparkling and shining.
00:55:36That is my drag queen must have is a rhinestone.
00:55:39I love drag that catches the light, gets your attention from the back of the room.
00:55:44So it's striking.
00:55:45It's graphic lines.
00:55:46It's kind of this 2D illustration just brought to life.
00:55:50The first song I ever performed was Aura by Lady Gaga.
00:55:53I was feeling the fantasy.
00:55:55I felt so fierce.
00:55:56I auditioned for this competition with that Lady Gaga song.
00:55:59And three months later, I won the whole thing.
00:56:02I killed it.
00:56:03Made all these other bitches mad.
00:56:04And I had been incubating in the bedroom a little bit before that.
00:56:07So performing on a stage, two and a half years.
00:56:10But experimenting with makeup and learning to sew, I started doing earlier in the pandemic.
00:56:14But, you know, how long you've been in drag is no measure of the talent and skill and things that you can do.
00:56:21So, you know, when I was in elementary school, I was the fastest cup stacker in the entire elementary school.
00:56:31You know about cup stacking?
00:56:32The 3-6-3, the 6-6, the 1-10-1?
00:56:34The full cycle?
00:56:35Girl!
00:56:36I won a little thing of cups at my elementary school for being the fastest in the fourth grade.
00:56:41And then I won another thing of cups for being the fastest in the entire elementary school.
00:56:45None of these bitches stand a chance when I get my hands on some cups.
00:56:49Okay?
00:56:50Oh!
00:56:51That's my hidden talent for sure.
00:56:54Up until the day I walked into this place, I was a mechanical engineer.
00:56:58That was my thing.
00:56:59I went to college for engineering.
00:57:02Got a job.
00:57:03Super exciting.
00:57:05Super inspiring.
00:57:07Secret Smartie!
00:57:08Girl!
00:57:09Honestly, I hope I don't have a signature.
00:57:10I hope I don't smell like anything.
00:57:12My signature scent is no scent at all.
00:57:14You don't need to smell a thing when I walk by.
00:57:16You don't need to smell me.
00:57:17You can see me.
00:57:18You can touch me.
00:57:19Don't smell me.
00:57:21That is not part of my flavor profile of drag.
00:57:24You don't need to smell.
00:57:25Will you do your big one this season?
00:57:28Oh, yeah.
00:57:29I am squatting on these bitches.
00:57:32I am on these bitches.
00:57:34It's gonna stink.
00:57:35And they're gonna hate it.
00:57:36It's gonna smell like so nothing that it's gonna stink.
00:57:40They won't even see it, but I'll be on them.
00:57:43I am America's Next Drag Superstar because I am a powerhouse when I hit the stage.
00:57:49I am a maker and a creative.
00:57:52Like, I figure out how to do anything and create anything.
00:57:54If I have a vision, we're bringing that vision to life one way or another.
00:57:58I'm America's Next Drag Superstar because you can't spell my name without icon icon.
00:58:01It is written in the name, written in the stars.
00:58:04Patty.
00:58:08I'm not seeing it enough, mama, honey.
00:58:10Baby, you can put a little bloop bloop.
00:58:12You can put a little something in there, it'll feel you out.
00:58:14You know?
00:58:15You gonna be imagine how surprised and how sexy you feel.
00:58:22My drag name is Vita Von T Star and I'm from Montgomery, Alabama.
00:58:26Oh, my God.
00:58:27Montgomery, Alabama.
00:58:28Very small city.
00:58:29A red state.
00:58:31So, not a lot going on.
00:58:33There isn't a drag scene, really.
00:58:35Yeah.
00:58:36I am the drag scene.
00:58:38My style is very feminine, but I like masculine traits as well.
00:58:43I love to show femininity, but still showing power.
00:58:47A little bit of both.
00:58:48I would have to say a trait that I bring into my drag is tradition.
00:58:52I'm very old school.
00:58:53I like powerful drag.
00:58:55I like meaningful drag.
00:58:57I like for my drag to tell a story.
00:59:00I think what will help me the most in this competition is my skills that I possess outside of drag,
00:59:06which is designing and sewing.
00:59:08We're pushing for Miss Congeniality.
00:59:10I am a helpful queen.
00:59:11I am a drag queen's drag queen.
00:59:13Ooh.
00:59:14Baby, listen.
00:59:15I can't do the stunts and the tricks and the flips and the dips and the splits.
00:59:19I can't do that anymore.
00:59:21But I'm going to try to be so captivating on stage because I feel like that's the essence that,
00:59:28you know, we don't glorify.
00:59:30But I feel like being captivating is an essence that I would try to use to my advantage.
00:59:36Bring the people to you.
00:59:39Well, my name's come from the movie To Wong Fu.
00:59:42I was about eight years old when that movie came out.
00:59:44And I didn't know what was really happening.
00:59:47I just know that I was so drawn to the character Vida Boheme of the Manhattan Bohems.
00:59:52And so I wanted to capture Vida, Vida Von Teese, and Diane Carroll all together.
00:59:59And those women just collectively possess different traits that makes up me.
01:00:05What's the strangest thing about you?
01:00:07Hmm.
01:00:08Coming from a little emo gothic kid.
01:00:11Oh, I shouldn't say that.
01:00:13That's a bit embarrassing.
01:00:15Definitely all black.
01:00:18Piercings in my ear.
01:00:20I had contacts called iguana, which were like red and yellow.
01:00:24I dyed my hair green, blue, red.
01:00:28Chains everywhere.
01:00:29I wore handcuffs.
01:00:30My nails were black.
01:00:32Fishnet shirts.
01:00:33Yeah.
01:00:34Baby, I did it.
01:00:36And that, it still lives in me, but hey.
01:00:42I will do my big one this.
01:00:43Yes.
01:00:44Yes.
01:00:45Kind of.
01:00:47Maybe.
01:00:48Sort of.
01:00:49A little.
01:00:51But a lot.
01:00:52Just enough.
01:00:54Maybe not enough.
01:00:55But yes.
01:00:58I am America's next drag superstar because I know my .
01:01:05I know who I am.
01:01:07I know my superpower in drag.
01:01:09I know what I could bring.
01:01:10I just have all of the things.
01:01:12I'm cultured.
01:01:13I'm experienced.
01:01:15Yeah.
01:01:16I am all of the things.
01:01:20In shady times, let there be light.
01:01:25And let there be drag.
01:01:31Drag.
01:01:33This season, 14 new queens will be the light the world needs.
01:01:37Right now.
01:01:38More than ever.
01:01:39More than ever.
01:01:40Wake up sugar baby.
01:01:41It's the lady boss who paved the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
01:01:46Wake up sugar baby.
01:01:48It's the lady boss who paved the way for all the hungry children to get paid on television.
01:01:52Don't be afraid to light up the stage darling.
01:01:53Find your life.
01:01:54Do you not see all this?
01:01:55Do you not see these hills?
01:01:56Do you not see this ground?
01:01:57Do you not see I'm real f-f-f-f-f the house
01:01:59Do you not see all this?
01:02:13Do you not see these hills?
01:02:14Do you not see this ground?
01:02:16Do you not see I'm real f-f-f the house?
01:02:18Do you not see all this?
01:02:19The crown is for the taking.
01:02:32They all sparkle.
