00:00In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro confirmed that he had a phone call with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, and described it as very respectful and cordial.
00:21The United Nations General Assembly held an informal meeting to commemorate and promote the International Day against Unilateral Coercive Majors.
00:32And Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on several villages in the southern Lebanon just a day after Israeli and Lebanese civilian leaders held their first direct talks in decades.
00:45Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
00:52Menezolan Vice President Nicolás Maduro revealed that he had a telephone conversation with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, which he described as respectful and cordial.
01:17The President assured that the call was initiated by the White House and that he advocated for direct dialogue for peace amidst the US military deployment near the Venezuelan coast.
01:28From an event in Petare Miranda state, the head of state affirmed that the call is welcome as long as it represents a step towards dialogue and diplomacy.
01:38President Maduro also emphasized that the US citizens opposed long conflicts abroad, referring to Washington's past track record.
01:47In turn, he concluded by stating that the colonial powers of the world will never be able to subjugate the Venezuelan people.
01:54In the meantime, the United States interfaith leaders and community leaders from New York held a vigil for peace and dialogue for Venezuela.
02:19Various interfaith and community leaders gathered in New York to demand that the US government find a diplomatic solution in Venezuela in the face of the growing threat by the Donald Trump administration to carry out a military intervention in the South American nation in a vigil that aligns with the urgent calls from the Vatican and the World Council of Georgia.
02:41The organizers denounced reports of U.S. military attacks that killed more than 80 people in addition to the military deployment in the Caribbean, operations classified as extrajudicial executions and violations of international law.
02:55They also emphasized the need for diplomacy to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
03:00The Trump administration engages in a war not authorized by the US government.
03:06We have been in the 10th kind of relations that we had with the government over the last 25 years.
03:16But we have never been in a situation like today where there is a massive armada, the biggest armada ever built in front of our coasts, killing civilians,
03:32telling that civilians in small boats are armed attacks against the United States and those civilians within those boats are combatants and they can be killed in an armed conflict.
03:47Well, I tell you, there is no armed conflict. There are no combatants. There are no armed attacks. There is no law of armed conflicts. Neither international conflict nor non-international armed conflicts.
04:08And they want to say now that they are killing terrorists. There are no terrorists. There are no terrorists within Venezuela. There have never been an attack from Venezuela to the United States. Either terrorist attack, armed conflict attack, any kind.
04:23And also the United Nations General Assembly held an informal meeting to commemorate and promote the International Day Against Unilateral Coercive Majors.
04:30The date is being commemorated for the first time today, December 4th, and was established as part of efforts to raise awareness of the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures that violate international law and the charter of the United Nations.
04:46The initiative for this commemoration was led and promoted by Venezuela, a country that has been the focus of constant threats and interference from the United States government.
04:58During the meeting, United Nations representatives emphasized the importance of promoting dialogue, mutual respect and multilateralism as the cornerstones of international relations and diplomacy.
05:10In this context, the permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, emphasized the challenges that the unilateral measures adopted against developing countries represent.
05:25And food. These illegal measures paralysed the productive potential of the countries affected, cut supply chains and choke investment.
05:40So they really are the most significant impediment to national development plans and for the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
05:52What's more, so-called humanitarian exemptions are no more than just cruel illusions. In practice, they are ineffective and largely fictitious.
06:03In this scenario, the representative of Mexico also reaffirmed that unilateral measures limit the establishment of cooperative relationships and undermine peace.
06:12Mexico reaffirms that embargoes, blockades and unilateral sanctions and economic pressure do not build peace, nor do they generate prosperity and nor do they promote cooperation.
06:21No state should see their growth hampered by decisions adopted outside of the multilateral framework.
06:28For his part, the Cuban permanent representative to the United Nations referred to the unjust unilateral imposition of the US blockade against Cuba and supported the appointment of a special advisor on unilateral coercive measures.
06:46No country, however powerful they may be, has the authority to punish the rest of the world.
06:53And this is why we firmly support the appointment of a special advisor on unilateral coercive measures.
07:01We support the victims of these cruel and inhumane policies and we call for their immediate total and unconditional lifting to fully comply with our promise here of not leaving anybody behind.
07:12And the United Nations warned about the growing pressure from the United States on Venezuela's airspace.
07:19In a statement, United Nations experts express international law is clear states have complete and exclusive sovereignty over the airspace above their territory.
07:29Any measures that seek to regulate, restrict or close another state's airspace are in latent violation of the Chicago Convention.
07:38The document emphasized that actions affecting another country's airspace may amount to a breach of sovereignty and could constitute an illegal threat or use of force under international law.
07:49In addition, the United Nations stated that unilateral measures that interfere with the state's territorial domain, including its airspace, risk fully undermining the stability of the region and are seriously undermining Venezuela's economy.
08:05Despite the President's statements, the United States has no legal authority to close another state's airspace.
08:11The document also concludes that the long history of external interventions in Latin America must not be repeated.
08:17Respect for sovereignty, non-intervention and the peaceful settlement of disputes are essential to preserving international stability and preventing further deterioration of the situation.
08:28And in this context, we go to Venezuela.
08:35Two new flights with over 500 Venezuelan migrants from the United States and Mexico arrived in Caracas on Wednesday as part of the humanitarian back to the homeland plan.
08:44Let's recall that US President Donald Trump unilaterally declared the closure of the South American nation's airspace last weekend.
08:52Then, on Tuesday, Venezuelan aviation authorities revealed the US government had asked for the resumption of the migrant repatriation flights, a request that was approved by Caracas.
09:03In this scenario, the two flights are the first to arrive since the recent developments, rising to more than 18,000 the number of nationals who have safely returned with the help of the government's plan.
09:15Precisely in this context, thousands of Venezuelans remain stranded in Spanish airports after their flights to their homeland were cancelled amidst the growing escalation of threats from Washington towards Caracas.
09:33The suspension of flights to Bolivarian territory has affected Venezuelan passengers, prompting organizations and governments around the world to condemn the action as an illegal and unjustified aggression against the Venezuelan people.
09:47In this regard, and in response to US threats, President Nicolás Maduro activated a special migration return plan aimed at compatriots who remain stranded abroad, demonstrating that Venezuela exercises full sovereignty over its airspace and territory despite unilateral coercive measures.

10:20Welcome back to From the South. In the United States, Republicans in the Indiana House of Representatives unveiled a new and controversial map for redistributing congressional districts increasing the current
10:50political tension and political tension. Republicans hold seven of the nine seats in the Indiana House of Representatives. In this scenario, Donald Trump and Republican leaders at the national level have urged local lawmakers to pursue a full Republican map before the 2026 elections. The redistribution map seeks to eliminate the two districts currently controlled by Democrats. Despite the coercion, Indiana Senate leaders only agreed to meet next Monday, December 15th.
11:19However, it is until uncertain whether the pressure will be enough to secure the necessary votes to pass the plan.
11:26And now we go to Honduras. The presidential candidate for the Libre Party, Rixi Moncada, denounced that in Honduras there is an electoral coup underway by the bipartisanship sponsored by US interference.
11:43In a special interview for Telesur, the candidate reiterated that the two-party system is committing electoral fraud, whose maneuvers had already been denounced in advance.
11:53Moncada explained that the inconsistency in more than 3,000 records altered the preliminary results and despite this, the CNE issued data in favor of the two-party system. Subsequently, Rixi Moncada denounced the threat made by US President Donald Trump against the Honduran people if they did not vote for the candidate of his choice, an action that confirms the interference.
12:17In this regard, she also rejected the pardon granted to former President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was convicted of drug trafficking, a pardon that contradicts Trump's supposed fight against drugs.
12:32And in Ecuador, the contentious electoral court of the country initiated a political persecution against the former presidential candidate for the citizen revolution movement, Luisa González.
12:44The electoral authority alleged that Luisa González committed an alleged pressure in the submission of campaign accounts for the 2023 early elections.
12:54In this regard, several analysts described the action as a plot by the national government to weaken the opposition parties. Legislators from the citizen revolution movement party asserted that the National Electoral Council has become an executive arm for persecuting opponents.
13:12And we say in the Latin American region, the Peruvian government extended the state of emergency for 30 days to address the rising crime in the capital and the nearby port city of El Callao.
13:28The measure restricts constitutional rights and large demonstrations even after the increase in protest against interim president José Herí over the past month.
13:39HerĂ also submitted a bill to Parliament requesting special powers for 60 days to legislate on public safety.
13:46The proposal will complement the operations already underway, so it is expected that the preliminary plenary will approve it.
13:56In Cuba, the main movie theaters in Havana will host the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema from Thursday 4th until the 14th of December.
14:22The 46th festival will feature a selection of 222 works from 42 countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.
14:32This year, Mexico will be the guest of honor and will receive the Coral Honor Award for the 80th anniversary of the Mexican studio Churubusco.

15:26just a day after holding the first direct talks in decades between Israeli and Lebanese civilian leaders.
15:44The attacks targeted residential buildings across the town of Marona, Haba, Al-Majadel and Barashid, damaging civilian infrastructure and triggering fires.
15:54In addition, an Israeli drone reportedly dropped a stun grenade on the Nakura shoreline earlier in the day.
16:01According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, at least 335 people have been killed and 973 injured by the Zionist military since the ceasefire took effect on November of 2024.
16:14Under the agreement, Tel Aviv was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon in January, but instead only partially pulled out and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
16:26Let's talk about Palestine.
16:50Gaza and authorities denounced a continued violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli occupation forces,
16:55bringing the number of dead and wounded to more than 1,200 since the truce took effect on October 10, 2025.
17:04The Gaz and Health Ministry informed that the total number of people killed since the ceasefire was declared has risen to 360.

17:20The latest attacks by the Israeli occupation have focused on several key areas of the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City, Hanjinis and Rafah.
17:29In addition to the human casualties, the Gazan authorities denounced the Zionist occupation for continuing to impose severe restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid,
17:38which significantly aggravates the livelihood crisis suffered by the population.
17:45They were sleeping civilians and children, hit by four missiles.
17:54Is this their target?
17:55Is this Israel's goal?
17:56To kill Palestinians?
17:57To kill Palestinians?
17:58The main goal is to kill and terrorize the Palestinians.
18:04We want to live with dignity like other nations.
18:07We hope the world will stand with us and end the bloodshed, so to begin the second phase of the agreement,
18:12followed by the third phase of reconstruction, so we can return to living as we did before.
18:16In other news, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomes Russian President Vladimir Putin with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation ties.
18:28On Thursday, the Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi,
18:34where he was greeted by Modi and a high-level commission.

18:43where they will discuss the strategic partnership of both countries in the political, economic, scientific and cultural fields,

18:55In this context, let's recall that India and Russia share similar views on the future of the world.
19:10The relations are not only historical but also well-developed and multifaceted,
19:15representing a privileged strategic partnership in which they cooperate in sensitive areas such as the exchange of technologies.
19:22India has declared that it will stand by its decision to oppose importing Russian crude oil in the face of pressure from the United States.
19:31Nidale also points out that there is no substitute for Russia as the world's second-largest oil producer
