00:00I can't show you my call log.
00:02Then you'll really know what man's supposed to make the headlines.
00:05Hi, Laura. I'm Amanda Seyfried.
00:07And I'm Sydney Sweeney, and this is Truth Serum.
00:14Oh.
00:19I can handle it. Yeah, they're good.
00:21Cheers.
00:26Oh.
00:27Whoa.
00:28The truth is, is tangy.
00:34What is one beauty rumor about yourself that you want to debunk right now?
00:39Go, girl.
00:40What's one beauty rumor? Let's debunk them all.
00:43I mean, I have never gotten one done.
00:45I am so scared of needles. You have no idea.
00:48But it's really effective once you get older.
00:51I'm telling you right now.
00:52I am too scared of needles.
00:54I just, you guys, you cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting.
01:04Of course I want to look different.
01:06Everybody on social media is insane.
01:07When you do.
01:08I'll call you.
01:09You gotta call me and I'll give you a little bit of Ativan and you'll be so excited.
01:14But you don't need it yet.
01:15No. Also, if I did, you guys, my face would be even.
01:21Not necessarily.
01:22No?
01:23What do you mean even?
01:24Is it uneven?
01:25I feel like one eyelid opens a little more than the other.
01:27When I was younger, I had a wakeboarding accident right here and I got 19 stitches.
01:31So I feel like it pulls my eye just a little differently than the other.
01:35I still don't see it, but there's an art to it.
01:38You can't just get it everywhere like a lot of people do.
01:40You can just like, you don't need it.
01:43No.
01:44Do you have a tattoo?
01:45If so, where and what?
01:46I just saw my foot.
01:47It says Minj.
01:48It's like my nickname.
01:49And it does mean like genitalia in English, like a British slang.
01:54But it was a long time ago and it's actually a name my girlfriends and I call each other.
01:59And it's in my handwriting.
02:00Your girlfriend calls you Genitalia?
02:01Minj.
02:02Yeah.
02:03It's like my Instagram handle.
02:04It's like all.
02:05Yeah.
02:06Minji.
02:07Minji.
02:08Yeah.
02:09It's like a term of endearment.
02:10It's turned into that.
02:11And it was from Mamma Mia.
02:12One.
02:13We all have it.
02:14Sophie, we all have the tattoo on our feet.
02:17It's so silly.
02:18Oh, I love that.
02:19I know.
02:20So, no judgment.
02:21Are looks important to you when dating someone?
02:23I mean, I'd like a well-kept man.
02:27That's over, that's tall and handsome and with beautiful eyes and big arms and hands.
02:37But then like the personality is not good.
02:40Then he's not attractive.
02:41Exactly.
02:42But like, it's all, it's the whole thing, but it's.
02:44You would be like the hottest man ever.
02:46If you have a shit personality.
02:48Done.
02:49If you let your ego rule the day.
02:51Done.
02:52You're gonna lose your hair.
02:53If you have a great personality.
02:55You win.
02:56You're pretty good.
02:57Put drunk glasses on, you're great.
02:59What is the grossest thing you've ever done in the name of beauty?
03:05Um.
03:06Drink some more.
03:07Tell us the truth.
03:08I mean, I think it's pretty gross in general to have to slough off your hard skin on your toes
03:27and on your heels and the mess that you make when you do it.
03:31What's this?
03:32You know when you like wear shoes, like in the summer when you wear your Crocs too much
03:37and you get like manure trapped in like, in your skin and in your toenails and so like,
03:43you have to soak your feet and then you have to like slough off with that thing that sloughs off your dead skin
03:50and then the skin's like kind of like poopy and then you have to like, you know, just trimming your nails and your toenails.
03:57I think you've got too much truth serum now.
03:59Yeah, it's just gross.
04:00All right.
04:01It's actual literal shit.
04:02She actually lives on a farm.
04:03I do.
04:04And I'm very active on my farm when I'm home.
04:06Blonde or brunette?
04:07How do you personally prefer to wear your hair?
04:09Blonde.
04:10Blonde?
04:11I actually just went blonder.
04:12It's inspired by the housemaid.
04:13It looks so pretty.
04:14What about you?
04:15What's your preference?
04:16I don't know.
04:17What do you consider this?
04:20Blonde.
04:21See, I consider this brunette.
04:22No way.
04:23No way.
04:24No, that's blonde.
04:25You've got like an ombre, kind of ombre.
04:27That's blonde.
04:28I don't know.
04:29That's like honey, honey-er.
04:31Dirty blonde.
04:32No, I don't think that's dirty blonde.
04:34No?
04:35I would consider you blonde.
04:36I think being blonde.
04:37Yeah.
04:38I mean the Cassie blonde shit is really good.
04:40Cassie blonde, I love.
04:42But when I was, the first two seasons when I was dyeing my hair Cassie blonde,
04:46it was just coming out so I had to stop.
04:48So now I'm letting my natural hair grow.
04:49I've got to give it a break.
04:50I know.
04:51Beauty is hard.
04:52But also like, wigs are really great.
04:54Wigs are amazing.
04:55May I be show, please?
04:58You were drinking this truth serum.
05:00Like in a weather.
05:04Were you ever offered a role that offended you?
05:06Oh.
05:07Mm-hmm.
05:08Mm-hmm.
05:09Um, so many.
05:10In fact, I can't even like tell you specifically what it was.
05:13But after I played Karen in Mean Girls, it was basically like the bimbo.
05:18Which is what Hollywood does.
05:19I get it.
05:20They do that.
05:21It's fine.
05:22They do that.
05:23And we just wanted to work.
05:24So I had to be like very careful that I didn't take too many jobs that were the same.
05:27Yep.
05:28And instead do things that showed range.
05:30It's the challenge of like kind of being a woman in Hollywood, but also just like the first thing you play.
05:37People always see that first.
05:38And it's just like.
05:39They change their minds.
05:40Yeah.
05:41Yeah.
05:42So that said, we both play iconic high school characters.
05:45What advice would Karen and Cassie give to your high school self?
05:50Oh my goodness.
05:52I don't know if I'd want to take advice from Cassie.
05:55I don't think I would take advice from Cassie to be honest.
05:59I mean, Cassie was, Cassie was way more confident with her self image than I was in high school.
06:06So maybe something like that, but I don't, I don't know if I would.
06:08I mean, that's just, it's good to see.
06:10Yeah.
06:11Not Karen.
06:12I think the only kind of advice you can take from her is that she lives in the present.
06:19You know?
06:20What is the wildest beauty transformation you've ever done for a role?
06:23Um, um, patriarchy.
06:26I always forget everything.
06:27Oh, oh God.
06:28I, I actually played someone who was going through chemo and there's a lot of skin makeup.
06:35It was prosthetics.
06:36And that's just tricky to see when you look in the mirror.
06:38Cause it's like one of my biggest fears.
06:40And it was really hard for my husband to see it.
06:42I have to remember that I'm not going through this.
06:44No.
06:45No.
06:46What's the biggest transformation, beauty transformation that you've had to go through for a movie?
06:50I've transformed myself for Christie quite a bit.
06:55How long did it take?
06:56I had like two and a half, three months to train and gain weight.
06:59And then I had to keep it on for like the entirety of the film.
07:03So top of July until Thanksgiving.
07:06Did you have to like wake up before I am and eat chicken?
07:09No.
07:10Okay.
07:11So when I was filming, I'd have like different wigs for the different eras.
07:14And then I had brown contacts in.
07:16It's very different.
07:17I did contacts once, brown contacts.
07:19And looking in the mirror is really awesome.
07:21It's crazy.
07:22Yeah.
07:23It really helps.
07:24It's not just shoes or costumes.
07:25It's like when you get to that level of specificity, it's really helpful.
07:30Yeah.
07:31Okay.
07:32Much character of yours.
07:33Are you most like IRL?
07:35Ooh.
07:41I don't know.
07:42I honestly feel like when Christie and I are vastly different in a lot of ways, but I learned
07:48so much about myself when I was playing Christie.
07:51We're both very driven and strong-willed and like she fought her own fights and battles
07:59within the ring and outside of the ring.
08:01And I feel like metaphorically, I have that going on in my life as well.
08:04So honestly, I think Christie.
08:07Yeah.
08:08Word.
08:09Sorry.
08:10What about you?
08:11I mean, in some ways, Sophie from Mamma Mia is like, I also think at that point in my life,
08:17it was the first time I'd ever like really gone away and done something on my own.
08:21And I think that the same thing happened in either.
08:23So many of my friends are from that, but that moment in my life, but also she's so optimistic
08:28and like excited about people and connecting people and like socializing.
08:32socializing and she's nuts too.
08:34So I just feel like we're very similar.
08:36What's one onset habit you wish you could break?
08:39I just wish I would stop eating all the time.
08:43I need to do meals between every shot.
08:47I'm like looking for the food.
08:49I don't eat a lot of it.
08:50I've just, it's all I think about.
08:51I mean, we're walking from room to room today.
08:53We're eating cookies in our hands as we walk.
08:55At least people are giving it to us.
08:56I have to like search out the craft service table all the time.
08:59And it's just one of those things that I get really addicted to.
09:01And it's just like, if I just ate a meal, I would focus more on my work.
09:06But I like to snack.
09:08When it comes to acting, do you prefer playing the hero or the villain?
09:12The villain.
09:13I think it's more complicated and it's more challenging.
09:17And I always love trying to find ways to humanize characters
09:22that people might have a hard time finding empathy for.
09:25And then they start to question why they have empathy for this character.
09:28That could be morally complicated.
09:30Yeah.
09:31That's the truth.
09:32Same.
09:33Yeah.
09:34It's exactly the same.
09:35It's like you challenge yourself.
09:36You challenge the audience.
09:38You play around in the middle.
09:40It's way, way more fun.
09:42And you both do that in this film.
09:44Yes, we do.
09:45We do.
09:46Let's keep going.
09:47Show us the last person you FaceTimed.
09:52Oh gosh.
09:53Who was the last person you FaceTimed?
09:57Oh no.
09:58Oh no.
09:59I'm actually worried though.
10:00I'm really worried.
10:01That was my dad.
10:02Yeah.
10:03There it is.
10:04Daddy.
10:05Daddy.
10:06With like 10,000 emojis.
10:07Daddy.
10:08Daddy.
10:09Wait, wait.
10:10I also call my dad, daddy.
10:11Daddy.
10:12Daddy.
10:13Wait, wait.
10:14I also call my dad, daddy.
10:15Daddy.
10:16Daddy.
10:17Yeah.
10:18I can't show you my call log.
10:19Then you'll really know what man's supposed to make the headlines.
10:23Right?
10:24Right?
10:25No cheating.
10:26Show us your screen time.
10:28Oh.
10:29I mean, today's?
10:30Not so bad.
10:31We were working all day.
10:32So.
10:33How do I do that?
10:34Here.
10:35Oh.
10:36Wow.
10:37No.
10:38No.
10:39Hold on, hold on.
10:40It just changed.
10:41Wait, no.
10:42Three hours and 53 minutes.
10:43I read or took information in.
10:45The phone doesn't lie.
10:47I wasn't.
10:48There was no.
10:49Oh, oh, oh, oh.
10:50I was at the, I went to the gym this morning.
10:52Okay.
10:53You did 46 minutes of texting, 43 minutes of Instagram, 38 minutes of WhatsApp, New York
10:58Times or Delta.
10:59You were on your Delta trying to figure out your flight a lot today.
11:02Yeah.
11:03Yeah.
11:04Right.
11:05Oh, wow.
11:06I didn't even know.
11:07Oh my God.
11:08Four minutes on safari.
11:09That's awesome.
11:10I'm trying not to safari.
11:12I'm trying not to go on my safari.
11:14I've never heard.
11:15I'm trying not to safari.
11:16And you know what I did on the New York Times app?
11:18Wait, I have the New York Times games app.
11:20I did Sudoku.
11:21Mm.
11:22That's why I spent so much time on it.
11:23I do.
11:24It's hard today.
11:25It's fun.
11:26It's really fun.
11:27I haven't done the world yet.
11:28So between the two of us, who do you think is a better singer?
11:30I don't know.
11:31You.
11:32I don't know.
11:33We don't know.
11:34You.
11:35You haven't sang.
11:36Cause I am too scared.
11:37I know, but in the shower.
11:39I was singing in the shower.
11:40So do you sing well?
11:42I mean, it depends on what kind of genre.
11:46So truth be told.
11:48I grew up singing classical music.
11:50So I'd sing like talent shows.
11:52I sang.
11:53Oh my God.
11:54Fan of the Opera.
11:55Like think of me in fourth grade.
11:56Think of me.
11:58Think of me.
11:59Too nervous.
12:00Well, you can definitely hold the tune.
12:13Obviously.
12:14So do you sing karaoke?
12:15No, right?
12:16I do karaoke.
12:17Duh.
12:18What are we talking about?
12:19Yes, you do do karaoke.
12:20I love to karaoke.
12:21So wait a minute.
12:22But no, no, no, no, no.
12:23But that.
12:24Okay.
12:25So I have a routine.
12:26So I have a place in Key West and I love it down there.
12:29You've got to come.
12:30It's so much fun.
12:31He was his.
12:32But I rarely go out.
12:34I'm very much a homebody.
12:36Few times.
12:37I have fun.
12:38And I'll go down to Duval Street, which is a really good time.
12:41And I have my path of the bar hop.
12:44So you go down, you go to sloppy Joe's, the Irish bar.
12:48And then you keep jumping your way down.
12:51And then I end up at the karaoke bar.
12:53By the time I get to the karaoke bar, I don't even know I'm at the karaoke bar.
12:57I'm having a great time.
12:59It's so much fun.
13:00My go-to is like rap music.
13:03And I also just don't like to sing anything.
13:05Yeah.
13:06Lose yourself.
13:07It's fun.
13:08I can rap that with you.
13:10Okay.
13:11We're going to do it right now.
13:12No, no, no.
13:13No, no, no.
13:14If you've got one shot, one opportunity to see everything you ever wanted.
13:24Like one moment.
13:25One moment.
13:26Which is a capture.
13:27We just let it sing.
13:29Yo!
13:31This is what it means.
13:32This is what it means for me.
13:33I'm doing everything.
13:34This is what it means.
13:35I'm doing everything.
13:36I'm doing everything.
13:37I'm doing everything.
13:38Okay.
13:39I don't know if I should drink this no more.
13:40You really do know the lyrics to that.
13:41I do not at all.
13:43I don't know if I should drink this no more.
13:44You really do know the lyrics to that.
13:46I do not at all.
13:48Oh my God.
13:49When you said that, I was like,
13:50of course that's your song.
13:50It's my song.
13:51And then you got one shot,
13:53one opportunity, everything you ever want.
13:56Where is he?
13:57I don't know.
13:58I love him.
13:59I mean, we always learn something about each other.
14:00Yeah, Sydney can sing and she's been hiding it.
14:03There's like a lot to recap.
14:05We have a lot to talk about.
14:06We got a lot of recap.
14:07Thank you, Allure.
14:09Thank you so much.
14:09Truth was spelled.
14:11I was told.
