Friday starts chilly with frost and fog in the south before wet and windy weather sweeps in from the southwest. Morning brings some sunshine in central and eastern areas, but rain quickly moves into western regions, becoming heavy with gales near Irish Sea coasts and western Scotland. Afternoon sees widespread rain and strong winds, easing slightly in the east later. Temperatures range from 6–10°C, up to 12°C in Cornwall and Devon as milder air arrives. Overnight, rain and gales persist, leading to a wet, windy start on Saturday with frequent showers. The unsettled pattern continues into Sunday and next week.

00:00Hello then, a very good morning to you on this Friday morning, which is chilly with a frost in the south,
00:06as well as some fog patches before wet and windy weather arrives from the southwest.
00:11So the air remains cold through this morning into this afternoon, but milder conditions eventually sweeping in from the southwest,
00:19accompanied with strong winds, outbreaks of rain and a lot of cloud.
00:23That rain becomes showery across the north, and then we'll see showers further south before all change yet again,
00:29with more wet weather arriving from the southwest into Sunday.
00:34So let's pick up on some detail through this morning.
00:37If you are stepping out, it's showery across the north and the east of Scotland, a brisk breeze here,
00:41and some showers across western Scotland.
00:44And then we run into some drier weather.
00:45The clouds thickening across Northern Ireland, but once the sun rises, we will see some sunshine across England and Wales,
00:51a few showers just reserved for Cumbria, as well as Lancashire.
00:54Wales seeing a scattering of showers, and we are seeing a few just clipping the south coast.
00:59But inland, if you are travelling first thing, watch out for some fog patches,
01:03particularly towards the southeast of England, and a frost here as well.
01:07But notice towards the southwest, already the cloud is thickening across Cornwall, as well as Devon,
01:13and those winds picking up some strength, heralding a change in our weather.
01:17Some wet and windy conditions coming in across western areas as we head through the morning and into the afternoon.
01:24So, yes, some of you will see some brighter weather.
01:27We hang on to some drier conditions, in fact, as we head through the morning across central and eastern areas.
01:32But notice this rain rolling in.
01:35So by around, as I'd say, mid-morning, we'll see the first of the rain arriving across southwestern parts of Wales,
01:42northern Ireland.
01:43Some heavier pulses then, as that rain gradually clears afar north of Scotland,
01:48and we'll see some brighter skies coming through.
01:51Now, through the afternoon, it's wet and windy across many areas.
01:54Gales are likely across Irish seacoast towards the north channel, western Scotland,
01:58and those rainfall totals will continue to rise as we see that wet weather just persist across these parts.
02:05So here's your outlook through Friday afternoon.
02:08This afternoon, you will see that wet weather anywhere from the West Midlands, western parts of Scotland,
02:14southwards and westwards.
02:16Brighter skies to end the afternoon across central and eastern areas.
02:20But through rush hour this evening, that wind and that rain continues its passage eastwards and northwards.
02:27Temperatures then coming in probably around 6 to 10 degrees Celsius,
02:30but at 12 down towards Cornwall and Devon, heralding some milder conditions through Saturday.
02:36Here's that rain then through this evening and overnight.
02:39Again, it's pushing northwards, those strong winds.
02:42Winds also just having some strength to them, even some gales across the south as well as the west.
02:48And those showers will be heavy, clustering together to form longer spells of rain.
02:53So that's how we start Saturday morning.
02:55Showering across many areas, some rain across central parts of Scotland,
02:59that stiff wind across the far north and northeast of Scotland with those showers.
03:04So it's a wet and windy start to the day across many areas,
03:07with showers just tracking in on that strong wind.
03:11Through Saturday then, those showers continue across most areas.
03:15You can see the centre of the low is just towards the west of Scotland there,
03:19and those winds will also be a feature into the afternoon.
03:22A lighter breeze perhaps southern Scotland, northern England,
03:25but showers never too far away.
03:27And your outlook through Sunday is pretty much a case of that showery rain in the north,
03:33more cloud in the south, but that's not the end of the story.
03:37It remains unsettled into next week.
