Meanwhile, a heavy evening downpour caused severe traffic congestion across central Kuala Lumpur with major roads around the KLCC area coming to a standstill from as early as 5pm.

00:17Kajang police said the students were brought to the schools with assistance from various government agencies, private entities and members of the public.
00:27They said they were alerted of the flood at 6.18am, involving areas such as Batu 20, Batu 18, Batu 4 and Dusun 2.
00:38They said the overflowing river nearby caused several main routes to be submerged, making key roads like Jalante Kali, Corner Wong and Kolam Ayer Panas impassable to light vehicles.
00:52They said two temporary relief centres were open to accommodate about 450 flood victims as floodwaters had begun to recede at press time.
01:00Hululangat MP Mohamad Sani Hamzan said the flood in the area had occurred twice already in two weeks.
