00:04It's just not going to happen.
00:06Josh Brolin says he has no regrets about his past friendship with President Donald Trump.
00:12He reflected on their long-standing connection in a November 29th interview.
00:16I'm not scared of Trump, because even though he says he's staying forever,
00:20it's just not going to happen, Brolin explained to The Independent.
00:23And if it does, then I'll deal with that moment.
00:26But having been a friend of Trump before he was president, I know a different guy, the Marvel star went on.
00:32The two first met in 2010 while Brolin was filming Wall Street.
00:36Money never sleeps, and Trump even shot a scene for the movie that ultimately wasn't used.
00:41Despite Brolin's statements, he also praised the businessman, saying he's brilliant when it comes to marketing.
00:47There is no greater genius than Trump in marketing, the Goonies alum said.
00:51He takes the weakness of the general population and fills it.
00:54And that's why I think a lot of people feel that they have a mascot in him.
00:59I think it's much less about Trump than it is about the general population and their need for validation, Brolin added.
01:06Josh Brolin said he was a fan of Donald Trump in 2016.
01:10Brolin previously mentioned Trump on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2016,
01:15saying he had read a lot of Trump's books and was a big fan.
01:19He single-handedly turned around the economy of Manhattan, Brolin explained.
01:22I found that very fascinating.
01:25I think he's an interesting guy in that way.
01:28However, the Academy Award-nominated actor slammed Trump when he was running for president for his second term in 2020.
01:35He wrote a long-winded Instagram post at the time to express his displeasure with former The Apprentice host.
01:40I refuse to believe that Donald Trump is our core version of American masculinity, Brolin penned.
01:47The America that was great was never based on creating hate and conspiracy in order to win.
01:52There have been a few, but none has lasted.
01:55Donald Trump has lied over 50,000 documented times,
01:58but we still are willing to let it go because he speaks to an American demographic that no longer felt masculine.
02:03Let it go.
02:19Let it go.
