00:00Hey, today's video is we have a parts MacBook, very old, I would say about 2005, 2006, and
00:16we want to put the boot camp on it with Mac on one side of the partition and Snow Leopard
00:27on the other. Now, I spent four days doing this. This CD-ROM does not work. Therefore, you
00:39might have one of these, the USB optical drive. I've had this for many years. Now, it comes
00:53with two cords, but sometimes I realize that I don't need the one, you know, just the, this
01:02cord didn't even come with it, or I lost it. It's an old printer cord. You see that end
01:09right there? So that actually works. And the idea here is, with the older versions, they
01:17do say, if boot camp doesn't work, then it could be an outdated software problem. So
01:26I think that's basically it. But what I'm going to do is, now I have the ribbon cable here that
01:38I put on, that's a new ribbon cable. And the connections are very small, like underneath
01:47that tape. You have to lift up on these little brackets and have the cable in just right, or
01:56your trackpad won't work. And there's a dark, when I plug this in, anyhow, there's a dark screen. So
02:03I have to use, one sec, I have to have that unplugged. And I'll be using, that's right, standard
02:16keyboard for a desktop, which also, some of the things don't work. But we're going to go ahead
02:24and insert the Snow Leopard CD and start this all off. Now the way I start this is if the
02:36ribbon cable on the trackpad don't work, you won't be able to push the power button. But
02:42over time, once you put on the AC adapter, you can get this thing to blink. And the option
02:59key would now be the alt key. I had to look that up too. Let me plug the keyboard in as
03:09well. I had to put white tape on the keyboard and the mouse. Why? Because I don't have a
03:18four-way hub. I did, but it broke. So I'm just trying to use what I have. So let's go ahead
03:27and get the optical drive so we can put our CD in. So I got the power going and we're going
03:39to have to unplug that again. This is with nothing on it. Here's the Snow Leopard CD.
03:50So first I plugged in that. Now I'm going to hold down the alt key. And you can't use a regular
04:06Windows CD. I tried. It'll only pick up on a Mac disk. And you see the two hard drives here
04:13because I've already done it. Let's try that again. Hold down the alt key. Sometimes you got
04:30to do this twice. Or disconnect it long enough to wear. Okay. And keep it right on the alt key.
04:50You can hear that little CD-ROM trying to work, but it doesn't. I've even plugged another laptop CD-ROM
04:58on the top. Let's see if we can get that Mac operating DVD. There it is. I was lucky there. Sometimes
05:10you got to try. And so I'm going to go enter. Now by reading the instructions, you guys probably
05:21already know how to put the operating system. You have to have the guild partition formatted
05:34on the disk with the Snow Leopard. And it has to be one long partition. Some of the signs will pop up
05:47and tell you that. Let's just wait for this to make sure that light on the DVD-ROM is blinking.
06:03We'll try to make this video as short as possible. But I was on this all just about all week. Four days.

06:31And you got to be very
06:33fragile with that. Or if you break any part of that, you have to order another one. Or

06:54ribbon cable with it if it broke.
