00:00The CIDG is tightening its dragnet as more suspects linked to the flood control controversy send surrender feelers while others continue to evade arrest both here and abroad.
00:11With multiple units of the PNP working in tandem, authorities insist the pursuit will press on without let up.
00:18Our Ryan Lesigues reports.
00:19The personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group or CIDG continue their manhunt to locate the remaining suspects in the country's flood control mess.
00:32But according to CIDG Director Police Major General Alexander Morico II, the number of suspects in the anomalous flood control project who have sent surrender feelers to the PNP CIDG has now risen to three.
00:46Morico stressed that the two of them are currently in the country while the other is hiding abroad.
00:52There is an ongoing negotiation rin ng pag-surrender nila. But the warrant of arrest is we will pursue. At the same time, may investigation kaming kinakanda. And we're getting information out of this, especially sa mga kamag-anak.
01:16Morico also said that some of them are hesitant to surrender because they cannot afford to hire a lawyer.
01:23You know, you must understand also these people. Hindi lahat sila may pera. Some of them are dummies also. Hindi sila lahat may ano. So dapat maintindihan rin natin.
01:34Out of the 16 accused in the flood control case, nine are already in the custody of authorities. Most of them are officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways of DPWH Region 4B, while seven remain at large.
01:48Of this number, four are officials and personnel of San West Inc. Some of whom are said to be abroad. Former Representative Zaldico is also among those outside the country.
02:02Meanwhile, three remain in the Philippines. Another DPWH 4B official is also among those still at large.
02:09We will pursue it. May ginagawa po ang Philippine National Police daw. We have the leadership ng PNP. May ano tayo sa police atasis natin.
02:22So ongoing rin po ang effort. Hindi naman po stand alone ng CIDG. We have all units ng PNP.
02:29Ryan Lisigues from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
