00:00I heard from the producers that basically your interview with Warren, the author of the book, is what led to this movie.
00:05That's what I heard. I didn't hear that until I was on set. I had no idea.
00:10I had no idea. Like, you know, Scott Cooper didn't tell me. I interviewed Scott, too.
00:15It's been a while, but, you know, we are kind of in touch, and he gave me this role.
00:20He never told me. It just came out as an aside.
00:23You would think that would be the first thing you'd tell me, right?
00:26Like, thanks. We got the movie because of your podcast.
00:31But, no, it was just this aside. Robinson had to pull me aside and go, like, I don't know if you know this.
00:36I'm like, how did no one tell me that? You didn't want to give me any credit?
00:40But I guess I got it now.
00:42And how did you get involved with the movie in this role?
00:45I don't know. Scott wanted to work with me, and he gave me this role.
00:48And I said, okay. That's how that happened.
00:53How did you approach playing a real person?
00:55Was it any different than other work you've done?
00:57It's a funny story that I guess I'm going to tell over and over again.
01:04Chuck Plotkin, not a lot of video of him.
01:07You know, Bruce is a longtime engineer, but I couldn't find any real sources because, you know, he's not a public guy.
01:15And he's around, but he's not well, so I couldn't talk to him.
01:18And that's not a huge part.
01:20But I said to Scott, I said, I don't know what you want me to do with this.
01:23It's a real guy.
01:24But I can't find anything on him.
01:26He goes, don't worry about it.
01:26Just play it how you feel you want to play it.
01:29And I said, fine.
01:31So the first time we shot a scene where I had lines, they said, cut.
01:34I walked into Video Village, and Bruce is in there.
01:36And he goes, you got it.
01:38You got Chuck.
01:39And I'm like, well, that's crazy.
01:41That's a coincidence, but I'll take it.
01:44That's amazing.
01:45What was it like having Bruce on set?
01:48You know, you just kind of know the boss is in the next room.
01:52And you kind of want to just go hang out and talk to him.
01:54So I did that.
01:56I don't know what other people thought.
01:57I just want to hang around Bruce.
01:59That's amazing.
02:00Did he share any anecdotes or anything that was especially memorable?
02:04He's talked about guitars, picks, nothing too out of the ordinary.
02:10And there's been so much discussion about, you know, Jeremy's portrayal of Bruce Springsteen in this movie.
02:14For you, what was it like hearing Jeremy sing as Bruce for the first time?
02:18Great.
02:18I think it was pretty amazing.
02:20I think he fooled Bruce, too, from what I hear.
02:23Bruce couldn't tell on a couple songs whether it was him or Jeremy.
02:26Seriously.
02:28I'm not making that up.
02:30Bruce said that.
02:31There you go.
02:32There's something he said.
02:34I mean, he said that before.
02:35I definitely heard that on set.
02:40I'm not talking out of school there.
02:48Good to see you.
02:50I don't know.
