Jeremy Strong chats with THR at the premiere for 'Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere' and talks about what it was like having Jon Landau and Bruce Springsteen on set. He reveals how having them there was only "additive" to his and Jeremy Allen White's performance.
00:00With John being on set a lot, what was it like having him be there, and did he inform what you were doing in real time?
00:06Yeah, he absolutely informed what I was doing, both John and Bruce.
00:11I think, you know, as an actor, you have to give yourself a foundational feeling of authority and ownership over your character before you're ready to step onto a set.
00:21And so I think if I hadn't done all that work, it would have been, it might have, you know, thrown Jeremy or I to have Bruce and John on set.
00:31I think because of the extent to which we felt prepared and were prepared, it was only additive to have them there.
00:40And, you know, and also kind of just up the ante in a great way.
00:44They're people who give so much to what they do that, you know, it just, it makes you want to give even more.
00:50But there were things that, you know, we found in the making of it that we all found together between Scott and Jeremy and Bruce and John and I,
01:03plying them with a million questions to bring us back to this moment in time and fill in the picture for us with greater detail, greater emotional depth and truth and accuracy.
01:15So, you know, it was, it was a treasure trove really to have them there.
