00:00Attempting to return stolen money after being caught is like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube after it's been squeezed out,
00:08especially if the loot was kept for an extended period of time.
00:12No can do.
00:13A sad and sorry predicament of six CIDJ officers who split among themselves 13 million seized from a Pogo raid in Porakpampaga last year.
00:24As such, they face serious criminal charges and the likely prospects of doing hard time, as our Ryan Lisigas reports.
00:33Six personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, or CIDJ, are now under restrictive custody.
00:40This after the discovery of their alleged theft of millions of pesos worth of evidence ceased in an operation against a suspected Pogo in Bagak, Bataan, in October 2024.
00:50Operatives confiscated about 141 million pesos from the said company, stored in nine boxes.
00:58It was found out na kulang.
01:01And at the same time, it appears na 141, but 13 million is Boodle money, meaning pay.
01:11According to CIDJ Director, Police Major General Alexander Morico II,
01:15the items were brought to the CIDJ headquarters, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Jose Joey Arandia was designated as the evidence custodian.
01:24However, the officer allegedly brought the items home and kept them there for almost a year.
01:30There was no proper turnover conducted by Police Lieutenant Colonel Arandia based on the investigation.
01:36Accordingly, he took the boxes of evidences to his house.
01:44Lieutenant Colonel Arandia also returned the box containing money to the CIDJ last October,
01:49when he was about to be replaced in his position.
01:53He assigned six police officers to guard the nine boxes at the CIDJ headquarters.
01:57This November, the court ordered the CIDJ to return the money to the company.
02:02That was then.
02:03It was discovered that more than 13 million pesos was missing.
02:07There was an omnibus court order presented for coming from the court.
02:12Next time.
02:15During compliance with the court order on November 20, 2025,
02:21the sealed nine boxes were unsealed in front of the legal council of Juan Bataan,
02:28Attorney Cherry and De La Cruz.
02:30One of the six police officers admitted splitting the money among themselves.
03:00Major General Morico also confirmed an investigation is underway against Lieutenant Colonel Arandia.
03:07According to NAPOCOM Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Commissioner Rafael Calinisan,
03:12there is no place in the PNP for corrupt police officers.
03:16You cannot undo the act.
03:18So for example, you took 13 million pesos,
03:22pinaghatihatihan nyo, kung ilan man kayo,
03:25tapos nung nadiscovery kayo, isasuli nyo,
03:27you cannot undo the act.
03:29You're still criminally liable.
03:30You're criminally and administratively liable for doing what you've done.
03:34If it is proven that the said police officers took the money,
03:38they will face multiple criminal and administrative charges.
