00:00The Department of Justice, or DOJ, assured the public that the country's justice system

00:05is not failing. This statement comes after the arrest and transfer of former President

00:09Rodrigo Duterte to The Hague, Netherlands, where he will face charges before the International

00:14Criminal Court, or ICC. DOJ spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Miguel Cardino addressed

00:20the recent developments, stressing that Duterte's transfer does not indicate a

00:24failure or breakdown of the country's justice system. The DOJ also stated that despite Duterte's

00:29transfer abroad, the investigation into the alleged extrajudicial killings in the country

00:34will continue, and authorities are actively gathering more evidence against the former

00:39President. Furthermore, the DOJ assured the public that local officials and police officers

00:44found responsible for the alleged EJ case will also face charges.
