David Benioff and Dan Weiss have signed a multiyear film and TV pact with the streamer, which was bidding for the duo's services alongside Disney and Amazon.

00:00Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss are flying from HBO to Netflix.
00:11The duo have signed what sources say is a $200 million multi-year film and TV deal with the streaming giant.
00:17Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said of the pair in a statement,
00:21"...they are a creative force and have delighted audiences worldwide with their epic storytelling.
00:26We can't wait to see what their imaginations will bring to our members."
00:29And Benioff and Weiss said,
00:30"...we've had a beautiful run with HBO for more than a decade and we're grateful to everyone there
00:34for always making us feel at home. Netflix has built something astounding and unprecedented,
00:39and we're honored they invited us to join them."

00:45Following the final season of Game of Thrones, Benioff and Weiss were also in discussions with Disney and Amazon
00:50and came to their decision after extensive talks with Netflix. Sources say Amazon Studios had been
00:55the front runner until early July, when Netflix re-emerged with a competitive offer.
01:00The bigger question about Benioff and Weiss though is going to be just when they will have time
01:03to focus on new projects, given their commitment to writing a Star Wars trilogy for Disney.
