00:00Like moments like this, I mean you were here walking carpets with your mentors
00:03being nominated for an Emmy for your own variety special.
00:05Crazy, and also I got to know some of these people like Chris Kelly over there
00:09is like one of my favorite writers, and I'm fucking like, you know, Louis, sorry to curse,
00:13Louis Black is like, came to see my show early, Alan Cummings a really good buddy of mine,
00:18and like, and a lot of this has happened through the community of the show,
00:22and it's like, it's just a beautiful, like my show has had a really long, wonderful road,
00:29it started like, you know, with nine people in a pub above a shoe store,
00:33and it just grew and grew, and went to Broadway, but it happened because a lot of the people on this carpet,
00:39and the people that, a lot of people that supported me are here,
00:43so it's like a really crazy thing, and I brought my parents and my best friends,
00:48Ben Passick, who just E got it himself, so it's like.
00:51Congrats to him.
00:51Yeah, congrats to him.
00:52Ben is like, oh, one Emmy, you know, it's not true, he's very grateful,
00:56but, but yeah, it's crazy, I can't believe it, like there's Louis Black, I mean like.
01:01I mean, you're, it's, you've made it.
01:03It is, and Carol Burnett, like I got to know Carol a little bit now,
01:06like what, what more could I possibly want?
01:08An Emmy.
01:09Yep, an Emmy, I was going to be an Emmy, that's right.
01:11But yeah, it's really wonderful, and you know, I'm sure people here feel this,
01:17I don't know if they say it, but like, you know, you never think it,
01:23something like this would happen to you, so it's really cool.
01:25I mean, congratulations on all of your success.
01:28What do you want people to know the most about you,
01:31now that your special has really, really taken off,
01:34and has gotten the Emmy, all the different,
01:36we're going to speak that into existence, you never know,
01:38you might walk, might walk away with the Emmy,
01:40but what do you hope people are able to take away from your variety special,
01:44that, that you really, really wanted to get across when you start developing it?
01:48You know, my show is about a Jew, I mean,
01:51who goes to this meeting of neo-Nazis in Queens.
01:54And, Lewis was it, no, I'm just kidding, I'm kidding.
01:56I'm joking, I'm joking.
01:58And the show is kind of about what happens when we sit down
02:01with people who are like fundamentally opposed to us,
02:04and what we learn about ourselves.
02:08And I think given what's going on in the country right now,
02:10given what's going on in the world,
02:12I like the idea that people who are fundamentally opposed to one another,
02:17maybe even like hate one another, can have like productive conversations.
02:20I think it's a really interesting way forward.
02:22I don't see it represented in media as much as I'd like.
02:25And I think it's been one of the reasons the show has gone, you know, this way.
02:29I mean, make no mistake, it's not a good thing to be a Nazi.
02:32But like having conversations with people who hate you,
02:34I think that's going to become necessary.
02:37We get further and further apart as a country,
02:39our environment gets like more and more rancorous.
02:41So that's the thing I'd love people to take away,
02:43that that's like, that there is an appetite for content about that,
02:46that there's an appetite for conversations like that.
02:49And, yeah.
