00:00Reality, though, Tom, I was on the Panthers in this game at 10 and a half.
00:05And I flatly said, I don't think they'll win the game.
00:08Like, I can't victory lap any aspect of the upset.
00:12I did not think the Rams would drop this game.
00:15I thought the Panthers could hang.
00:17The Panthers, by the way, 6-0 against the number off a loss this season.
00:22A spotless 6-0 against the number in this spot.
00:25But, Tom, what was your biggest takeaway from the Rams losing this game?
00:28You know, biggest takeaway is honestly credit to the Panthers.
00:33And doing it shorthanded, players hurt, players suspended after the Monday night game versus the 49ers.
00:39It was just a well-rounded team effort.
00:41And obviously, it was a sloppy game, metaphorically and figuratively, due to the weather.
00:46But they caused the trouble to Stafford that he hadn't seen in literally 10 weeks since his last interception.
00:54So they did all the things that they needed to do.
00:56The Rams didn't operate efficiently.
00:58We could say, oh, the Rams are a West Coast team coming east, playing at the 1 p.m. window.
01:02And I think it's really that.
01:03It's just a spot where I think we're going to look back on this and say, ah, the Rams lost it.
01:09But if they end up going to the Super Bowl, no one's going to remember this game.
01:12So I just see it as a schedule loss, essentially, for the Rams coming off a short week.
01:17It's not a short week for the Rams, but a short trip going east.
01:20And I don't make too much of it.
01:22As I said to you last week, I think they are the best team in the league.
01:24They're not miles ahead of everyone else.
01:26And this is just another reason we can poke a hole in the mess.
01:29We can poke a hole in every single team.
01:31So I think you're right that we can poke a hole in every single team.
01:33But we had seen the Rams run out to, I think you could, through pricing,
01:38and you might still make this argument, tier one alone.
01:43I mean, right now, looking at one book here, they're plus 470.
01:46Next closest is plus 850.
01:48I mean, that's a legitimate gap.
01:50And here's the thing about the L.A. Rams.
01:54Do I think that they have an argument for best team in football?
01:58Absolutely.
01:59Absolutely.
02:00But when we go through the resume, who on their schedule do we respect?
02:06The Texans?
02:06Sure.
02:07At home, a five-point win.
02:08The Eagles?
02:10A collapse and a loss.
02:11The Colts?
02:12A touchdown win.
02:14Although, for weeks, the Colts, the fumble, Aidy Mitchell, right?
02:18That got changed around a little bit.
02:20The Niners?
02:21They split with.
02:23A loss to Mack Jones at home, though, is on that resume.
02:26They smashed Jacksonville.
02:27They smashed Tampa Bay.
02:29Seattle, they beat only by two at home with four interceptions.
02:33Carolina beats them.
02:35What I'm getting at is the Rams are discussed and booked like they are in their own universe, Tom.
02:42They're not.
02:43They've shown us before yesterday, but now overwhelming with yesterday.
02:49They are not in their own universe.
02:51And I don't think the Rams number is as ridiculous as the Colts number we saw.
02:57Again, they were AFC favorites while being the shortest division favorite in the conference.
03:02The whole thing was a mess.
03:03But the Rams, Tom, play in a division with not just one other threat in Seattle, but the Niners are still a threat to win this division.
03:16Because look at the remaining schedules.
03:19We see it.
03:20They're clear as day.
03:22You know, aside from playing one another, they're all just supposed to beat everyone else.
03:28And for the Rams and the Seahawks, and you can throw the Niners into this as well.
03:37One of them, Tom, is going to be the one seed.
03:40But that means the other two are going to be the five and the six.
03:43So I don't think I love the Rams being under five to one to win a Super Bowl when they might be the five seed.
03:51I would say, realistically, this number should be six, six and a half to one, where a plus 470 number is kind of ridiculous at this point.
04:00Again, I can make the argument, and I think a lot of people would make the argument, that they are the best team in the league.
04:05And how we evaluate them in terms of what qualifies them or what metrics we're using to say that they are the best team in the league,
04:13that is going to vary from person to person.
04:15I would say that what we have seen from them at times can be a bit deceptive, given the fact of beating bad teams, pouring on the points.
04:24But a lot of people will just simply point to their underlying efficiency, whether it be against good teams or bad teams.
04:30You know, we will sit here and say, you know, they didn't cover the number against, you know, at home when they faced the Seahawks.
04:37And they almost lost that game despite having four picks via Sam Darnold.
04:41So I see it as just a very up and down team in terms of the minutia, but overall, they are very strong.
