The CW drama features the first out lesbian superhero to have her own show.

00:00Ruby Rose flies onto TV screens this fall as Batwoman, and while she hopes the
00:12groundbreaking lesbian superhero will appeal to everyone, she also thinks that
00:16for those who identify with her character, Kate Kane, this show will be life-changing.
00:21The character of Batwoman, aka Batman's cousin, Kate Kane, is the first lesbian superhero
00:34to headline her own series, and out actress Rose plays her. Rose told reporters at the
00:38Television Critics Association summer press tour on Sunday,
00:42And while Kate Kane's sexuality won't be her biggest character trait, it is a huge part
00:50of the show's storyline, particularly flashback scenes to her days in a military school with
00:54a don't ask, don't tell policy. Rose said,
00:57Still, she hopes that Batwoman appeals to everyone beyond just the LGBTQ community. Rose said,
01:13We want everyone to watch this, especially young people, who can identify and relate to
01:18people they're watching on the screen and hopefully be empowered by that.
01:21Batwoman premieres Sunday, October 6th, on The CW.
