00:00We're here at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
00:02What do you remember about the first time you heard yourself on the radio?
00:06Well, first of all, iHeart, iHeart.
00:08Happy to be here in my hometown of L.A.
00:10First time I heard myself on the radio, I cried.
00:12I lost it.
00:13I thought it was insane.
00:15And it doesn't get old.
00:16I don't care how many years in the game you have,
00:19when you hear your song on the radio in a random city,
00:22and you're just like, oh my God, the serendipity-ness of it all is crazy.
00:26So you're nominated tonight for your special appearance at Peso Pluma's show.
00:32Take me back to that moment when he brought you out on stage.
00:34Yeah, well, it's our nomination, and it feels very full circle
00:37because the year prior to that, I was on the main stage,
00:41and our song together hadn't even released when I invited him
00:45to come and join me on stage because for me, you know,
00:49community, our culture is so important,
00:52and putting Musica Mexicana on a global stage like Coachella,
00:55I knew was going to be the best way to represent myself and our people.
00:59And he's a rock star, and obviously he belongs on a stage like that.
01:03So when he invited me back the next year for his main stage moment,
01:06I was truly honored and very proud of him.
01:09Have you been working on any new music,
01:11and when might we be able to hear something?
01:13Yeah, so the last two years,
01:15I released my last two regional Mexican albums, Esquinas and Encuentros,
01:19and they're kind of like this coming home to myself experience as an artist
01:23that I didn't know I needed so badly,
01:25and then I just haven't known how to stop working,
01:28so I'm still making new music, and new music is coming very, very soon,
01:31so I'm excited.
01:32Can't wait to hear it.
01:33And we've also seen you do some acting over the years.
01:35Could we ever see you on the big screen, on the small screen in the future?
01:38I hope so.
01:39I love it so much.
01:40I think it was the pandemic that made me think about what I love so much about,
01:45you know, what I do,
01:46and I think more than anything, it's the storytelling and the connection.
01:49So I think acting is an extension of that world as well,
01:52and we'll see what comes our way.
01:55Do you have any dream roles that you'd love to take on,
01:57that we can manifest right now?
01:59Okay, so there's a personal one.
02:00I would love to do a scary movie because I hate them,
02:02and I heard that if you do a scary movie, it makes them less scary
02:05because then you know that they're not actually scary.
02:07And then another one is like a rom-com
02:09because I grew up on all the greatest, like, J-Lo rom-coms,
02:13like, hello, like, The Wedding Planner, Made in Manhattan, like, hello.
02:19Yeah, I got to do a rom-com for sure.
