00:00I reached my hand out to her, and she ended up scratching me.
00:04The following day, she brought her kitten.
00:07Athena is a feral cat who would often
00:09hang out in front of Katarina's yard every single day.
00:12She was very misunderstood, because with feral cats that
00:16are skittish, people will shoo them off.
00:19It made me want to help her out.
00:22My main goal was to just catch her and spay her.
00:25And once I got her trust, Athena ended up bringing her kitten.
00:31Athena and her kitten Boots would hang out in the front yard and play,
00:34and Katarina let them choose if they wanted to come inside or not.
00:37But as Boots got older, he chose to live in a different part of the neighborhood,
00:41where now he's looked after and really loved.
00:43We had a freeze coming in. I started getting very worried,
00:46and so I ended up just taking my chance.
00:49And so I took her upstairs.
00:52Every single thing that she was seeing inside of a house,
00:54you could see that she had never seen it before.
00:57And then the bigger the belly got, the more I understood,
01:01oh my goodness, this girl is pregnant.
01:04On February 21st, she ended up having five kittens.
01:10Kaia was just blown away.
01:13Her little eyes lit up, and I saw that Athena was totally fine with this.
01:21Every morning, Kaia would drag me upstairs to make sure that the kittens were okay.
01:26The cutest thing is that she genuinely counts them.
01:29If she did not find all five kittens, there was an issue.
01:36If there was a little squeaky noise,
01:41Kaia would right away rush into the kitten to make sure he was okay.
01:45I was like, she's really turning into a little nanny.
01:49After Athena finishes raising the kitten,
01:51she's more than welcome to stay inside the home as long as she wants,
01:54because she will always have a home with Katarina.
01:56As for the kittens, I am looking for a home for everyone,
02:00besides this little tiny gray kitten.
02:03He genuinely had chosen Kaia.
02:05He likes messing around with her.
02:08He's really bonded with us.
02:10It's just a beautiful experience overall.
