'Saturday Night Live' has set its return date following the end of the Writers Guild of America strike. The long-running NBC sketch comedy show will begin its 49th season on October 14th. Former cast member Pete Davidson will host the premiere, as he had been slated to make his hosting debut in May before the show went dark during the writers strike.

00:10Former cast member Pete Davidson will host the premiere,
00:13as he had been slated to make his hosting debut in May before the show went dark during the Writers Strike.
00:18Ice Spice will be the musical guest for the premiere.
00:20The following week, Bad Bunny will serve as both the host and musical guest on October 21st.
00:25SNL's season 48 cast will all return.
00:27While the Writers Strike ended on September 27th,
00:30Actors Union SAG-AFTRA remains on strike for a new theatrical and TV contract.
00:35It's worth noting that SNL cast members and hosts who are members of the union are okay to work on the show
00:40because it's covered under a different contract,
00:42the so-called network code that also covers talk shows and unscripted productions.
00:47In a statement, SAG-AFTRA said that the cast of SNL, quote,
00:50are not in violation of SAG-AFTRA strike rules and we support them in fulfilling their contractual obligations.
