00:00David Harbour still can't believe his Stranger Things character has made it to the fifth and
00:04final season. During a recent interview for British GQ, the actor who plays Jim Hopper
00:09on the hit Netflix show said that after reading the scripts for season one, he was convinced his
00:14character would die by suicide at the end of the first installment as a way for Hopper to
00:19apologize to his daughter who died. There was a moment when fans thought Hopper did die at the
00:24end of season three, when Joyce closed the gate to the Upside Down, leading them to believe his
00:29character made the ultimate self-sacrifice. So, Harbour understands if Stranger Things fans were
00:34a bit doubtful when Hopper returned in season four, alive and imprisoned in Russia. I think they were
00:39just committed to the beauty of that moment of his death. It was so moving that I think they almost
00:44didn't want him to be alive. As fans prepare for the fifth and final season, Harbour teased that his
00:49character didn't get any breaks. We shot a lot of nights, and there is a lot of action, and we're
00:54fighting evil in a very direct way. Hopper is a man of action. There's a lot of running around.
00:59Earlier this week at the opening of Stranger Things The First Shadow on Broadway, Noah Schnapp
01:04also teased the final season to The Hollywood Reporter.
01:06How are they going to feel? Oh my God. People are going to be truly devastated. I'm honestly,
01:13as sad as it was, I'm so excited to see the world's reaction to watching the finale, because
01:19there's not going to be a dry eye. It's going to be sad.
