00:09According to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., they received information that some are offering allocations to allegedly allow businessmen to import rice this December,
00:20even though the rice import moratorium is in effect until the end of the year.
00:24There is also a report of solicitation form circulating among some rice millers, importers, and traders in Cebu,
00:32where it is stated that those who sign will be able to import with guaranteed allocation.
00:38The secretary stressed that this is a scam and that those behind it will be pursued.
00:43The DA also reminded industry players to be alert and immediately report these types of deception.
