00:00Broadway gave tribute to Stephen Sondheim in a glitzy, star-studded online concert special
00:13to celebrate the lyric legend's 90th birthday. The extravagant special called Take Me to the
00:18World, a Sondheim 90th birthday celebration, which aired on Broadway.com and YouTube in
00:23support of artists striving to end poverty, featured performances from many of Broadway's
00:28greatest, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, and Audra McDonald,
00:33just to name a few, and even an appearance from Meryl Streep. The famous composer and lyricist's
00:3890th birthday was actually back on March 22, but the tribute special was taken online after the
00:44novel coronavirus pandemic sadly shut down Broadway. But still, Sunday night's special was nothing short
00:49of a celebration. One of the highlights of the special was easily Meryl Streep, Audra McDonald,
00:53and Christine Baranski donning bathrobes and guzzling down drinks for their performance
00:58of The Ladies Who Lunch from Sondheim's company. Elsewhere during the special,
01:09Annalie Ashford and Jake Gyllenhaal reunited for a song from their 2017 Broadway revival of
01:15Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George. Ben Platt performed a duet with Beanie Feldstein
01:27from Into the Woods, It Takes Two, and Neil Patrick Harris sang The Witch's Rap also from
01:38Into the Woods. But how was I to know what your father had also hidden in his pocket?
