'Shōgun' star Hiroyuki Sanada chats with THR while on the red carpet at the Disney post-Emmy party and dishes on his Emmys wins and how he thinks it will be a "good stepping stone for Japanese industry people and actors." Plus, he shares how proud he is of co-star Anna Sawai.

00:07Such a dream of a night for Shogun. What's going through your mind right now?
00:11How are you feeling after this just huge Emmy night?
00:15Ah, what an experience. You know, first time for me, of course,
00:20and then first time for the Japanese actor. It's a lot for me.
00:29It's meaningful for myself, but also I think this will be a good stepping stone
00:40for the Japanese industry people or actors, or not only for Japanese.
00:48All the foreigners, you know, get more chances from now on, I believe.
00:56And then our team, you know, Western, Eastern, crew and cast working together,
01:05respecting each other, sharing each other, helping.
01:08You know, making of Shogun itself has a very important meaning and a message to the world, especially for now.
01:19So I hope this kind of, you know, project gonna be a new normal in Hollywood. That's I'm hoping.
01:31Anna got so emotional during her speech. What was it like seeing her go up there and win?
01:36I'm so proud of her. You know, only her could do this role on the earth. I'm so proud of her.
01:47And that's real, you know, emotional, charming, you know, on set. So much talent, but effort, her effort made it.
