00:00Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is sharing his thoughts about the Hollywood writers and actor strikes.
00:06The CEO discussed the strikes during his studio's second quarter financial analyst call on Thursday, saying,
00:12We're in the business of storytelling, and we cannot do that without the entirety of the creative community,
00:18the great creative community, without the writers, directors, editors, producers, actors, the whole below-the-line crew.
00:25The ongoing writers' and actors' strikes have cut into the long-term strategic focus of Warner Bros. Discovery and other major Hollywood players.
00:33We're hopeful that all sides will get back to negotiating,
00:36and that these strikes get resolved in a way that the writers and actors feel they are fairly compensated,
00:41and their efforts and contributions are fully valued.
00:44He added,
00:45This is our business. This is all we do.
00:47We're in uncharted waters in terms of the world as it is today, and measuring it all.
00:51And so, in good faith, we've all got to fight to get this resolved.
00:55Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Weidenfels said the dual Hollywood strikes would inevitably impact the timing
01:02and performance of future Warner Bros. Discovery content,
01:05but added the studio had saved more than $100 million in operating costs due to the dual strikes in the second quarter.
