00:05challenge in the state election yesterday. The party held its ground in the east coast
00:11of Sabah and also made inroads on the west coast, winning a total of 25 seats. This marked
00:18major gains for the local party spearheaded by former Chief Minister Shafi'i Abdal after
00:24suffering from a spat of defections in the years that followed the 2020 state polls.
00:30Shafi'i comfortably retained his Senalang seat, while Warisan also held on to Silam, Merotai,
00:37Sabah Tek, and Tanjung Aru, and successfully rested the Chinese majority seats of Luyang,
00:43Likas, Sri Tanjung, Tanjung Papad, Elopura, and Kapayan. It however lost several key battlegrounds
00:50like Kunak, Petagas, Banggi, and Moyo. In 2018, Warisan won 21 of the 60 seats up for grabs
00:59and added two more in the 2020 state polls. For this election, the party went solo, contesting
