00:00George Clooney and Matt Damon are shedding more light on what it was like working with ousted Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein
00:16in a new interview with Good Morning America during the press tour for their film Suburbicon.
00:20Clooney and Damon previously spoke out about Weinstein, who helped launch both their careers in the late 90s.
00:26While both men said they were not aware of the allegations against Weinstein prior to the New York Times and New Yorker exposés,
00:33Clooney called his behavior indefensible, and Damon said the allegations made him absolutely sick to my stomach.
00:39And on Sunday, at the premiere of Clooney's latest directorial foray, Suburbicon, he once again added his voice to the debate.
00:45He told reporters,
00:46His longtime friend and star of the film, Damon, said he remains optimistic about how these stories can bring change.
00:53Now, in their latest comments about the scandal, the pair is clarifying to GMA what they knew about Weinstein's alleged history of sexual harassment.
01:00According to Damon,
01:07You had to spend about five minutes with him to know that he was a bully. He was intimidating. That was his legend.
01:15He went on to say this.
01:30So, when people say, like, everybody knew, like, yeah, I knew. I knew it was . You know? I mean, he was proud of that.
01:38Damon explained his thinking back then, saying,
01:41I knew he was a womanizer. I wouldn't want to be married to the guy, but it's not my business.
01:45But this level of criminal sexual predation is not something that I ever thought was going on.
01:50Clooney noted that he similarly had an inkling of Weinstein's alleged behavior around women, based on conversations he had with the mogul.
01:57Harvey would talk to me about women that he'd had affairs with. I didn't necessarily believe them, quite honestly,
02:03because to believe them would be to believe kind of the worst of some actresses who were friends of mine.
02:09Clooney told GMA's Michael Strahan he now knows the truth behind what Weinstein had described as an affair and added,
02:15The idea that this predator, this assaulter, was out there silencing women like that, it's beyond infuriating.
02:21Since allegations first surfaced in The Times, over 40 women have accused Weinstein of harassment and assault.
02:27The disgraced film mogul has since been terminated as co-chairman from his own company,
02:31expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and is under investigation by the LAPD, NYPD and London police.
