00:00Camila, please, you are the expert.
00:03How surprising was for you that number eight Gotham FC made it all the way is laying giant after giant.
00:12Starting with Kansas City, following by Orlando, and then finalizing on a high note against Washington Spirit.
00:21Yeah, I mean, what an exciting weekend full of so many important championship games.
00:25I can't say that I'm that surprised by Gotham, right?
00:29I think I, myself, and others painted this underdog narrative.
00:32But after watching this final, I think they just underplayed the season and really came and showed up in the finals.
00:38I mean, I love seeing the intensity of Gotham playing.
00:41They weren't scared to play the first place.
00:42They weren't scared to play the third place.
00:44And in the finals, they showed up and the team looked amazing.
00:47So who was the MVP of this game for you?
00:50I mean, it's got to be Rose Lavelle with that 80th minute banger.
00:53But she couldn't have done that without the amazing assist by Bruninha.
00:57The left fullback, who went all the way down the line, cutting it in, doing her magic around the Washington defenders.
01:04And finally, Rose Lavelle was just able to bury the hatchet.
01:07A great moment for a, you know, brand new team, if you will.
01:11This is one of the youngest franchises.
01:14Chiba, please tell me, this was a classic final game.
01:18You know, most of the game happened in the midfield, low scoring, a lot of intensity.
01:24Do you feel that we are getting to the peak or to the best era of NWSL?
01:31Of course.
01:31I mean, first of all, let me mention, like, Como Amos Te Deporte, right?
01:35The eighth place taking the championship.
01:38None of us, at the beginning, we didn't even mention Gotham at all.
01:41But to see that happening, it's a statement that this league is growing, that women's soccer, I mean, is becoming a reality around the world.
01:50And that's something amazing to see for us, the ones that love this amazing sport.
01:54And to add on to that, just to kind of add to, no matter how good Gotham is right now, for the next few years, this underdog tag, no matter how much butts they continue to kick, it's going to follow them.
02:05Because you go back to 2022, 2023, they're at the bottom of the table.
02:10And now here they are building this mini dynasty, as you said, this mini franchise team, in just a matter of a few years.
02:16That's beautiful.
02:17And that's amazing.
02:18And that's how it starts.
02:18And we're watching the start of what could be a huge team that will dominate this league for years and make a real name for itself.
02:25Alex, how important it is for New York City to have a winning team?
02:30This is one of the biggest cities, sport-wise, in the country.
02:34They have a struggle, but now it might be in an unseen scenario that both winners of NWSL and MLS might come from New York City.
02:46Talk to me.
02:46I mean, not to, you know, stop the train right there, but I think Miami is going to take the MLS Cup.
02:54We will get to that later on.
02:57But I think we have to give it to Gotham.
02:59You know, they showed up in this game.
03:02I called it last week.
03:04But, you know, we'll put that aside, too.
03:06I think that it's very important for New York, you know, showing up that the recent years haven't been, you know, too easy on them.
03:13But now they have that momentum.
03:14And hopefully they can even keep it going for, you know, next season.
03:18Without a doubt, Camila.
03:19Gotham has every warning sign for a dynasty team.
03:24Absolutely.
03:24They play, like you said, they underplay the season.
03:26They were not the team that will be, you know, doing headlines, getting all of the accolades throughout the season.
03:32They were quietly building.
03:34Do you foresee Gotham to continue to dominate NWSL?
03:37I mean, yeah, absolutely.
03:39I think what they showed this time around is that they could dominate knockout soccer.
03:43Once they get to these playoff rounds, they can show up and they can stand out.
03:47And I think that's what they do.
03:48I mean, in the past three years alone, we've seen two championships and CONCACAF.
03:53So I think they're building a mini dynasty that I see being successful in the long run.
03:59It's also a team that beat Tigres, the champions of Liga MX.
04:02That's right.
04:03Top of top.
04:04We've got to congratulate Gotham FC for this second championship.
04:09Big ups for the champions in the East.
