03:38After a bumpy start to the week, Jackie and Rob are feeling buoyed by positive feedback yesterday.

06:31yesterday was a really good day and i think that's motivated me and lifted my spirits so i have a

06:45the judges will be looking to see if michelle and steve have embraced france and the local
06:50produce on offer we've had really good comments about the breakfast steve loves going to the bakery
06:56to see the lady in the bakery was she even more smiley today she offered me a job

07:13bonjour the last one i'm here like that spring i was waiting i was waiting for the bonjour that very

07:39with guests and for the final day they are sticking with what they know

08:20beautiful you go to the bakery this morning we thank you very very good thank you very much you've made
08:29an impact in the town steve did you get anything free this morning no but she let me in 10 minutes
08:34early and you did say she gave you the biggest baguette yes she did i think we've made an
08:41impression down there i'm in the butchers and i got a discount discount discount so you need to win
08:48so you can come and i come with you 30 minutes down the road jackie and rob are combining the best bits
08:57of their breakfast through the week so breakfast what what do you think yeah wonderful this is
09:02typically a good breakfast for friends after disappointing feedback on their set menu they've
09:10reverted to offering a choice so we have some scrambled egg we could have some poached egg we have some vine
09:17roasted tomatoes and roasted tomatoes and we have some oven roasted mushrooms as well some scrambled eggs
09:24with mushrooms please i'm gonna go poached in mushrooms please

09:36after an over ambitious start to the week nickel and roy have paired back their breakfast since eva's
09:42last visit and she's keen to scrutinize the results do you want to give me your orders now or do you want

10:13last breakfast in the house yeah is it uh emotional it is because um we want this so much we really
10:20do want it so much the first breakfast was a bit rushed which actually means it was rubbish and we know

10:34well so yeah yeah yeah it's good when we're cooking we're in our zone he's on bacon thank you thank you

12:31three couples started the week as bnb amateurs but after the final breakfast the judges are at a

12:45so hard because i think the quality's been high so it's going to be really really difficult to make
12:50a choice remember there's a competition and we're not going home no we're not the stakes are really
12:58high the competition is really tough and they're facing some fierce opponents the muffins were great

13:10works because up until this morning they'd had more more downs than that than that than ups and then
13:17then the guest comments they loved them was you all right was that post they've just got it
13:23now been a tale and that has completely confused us
13:27it's the moment all the hosts have been working towards the very last guests of the week are
13:44checking out i love their little touches did you see all the matching bathroom things

14:56very well which is always extremely important after all a comfortable bed is one thing but having a good
15:01breakfast or a good dinner is icing on the cake after a culinary disaster at the start of the week
15:08bye bye professional chef roy's humble breakfast has ended the week with a flourish how did breakfast
15:15go very smooth well i think it went very well we sourced a lot of local products i've noticed your bacon
15:21was delicious you need to give me the name of your butcher yeah yeah i will we definitely still want to
15:27give a hot breakfast option but it's just we need we need to be easier for us than what we originally
15:33planned i think one of the key aspects of running a bnb and staying at the bnb and spending time with the
15:38hosts as well and i think with a simpler menu like you've done today it just it just makes it easier
15:43and more enjoyable for everyone even if it doesn't move forward from this point i know you're really
15:48keen to move to france and i wish you all the best with us so much appreciate it
15:55meanwhile michelle and steve's enthusiasm has been a talking point
15:58and they continued to wow their guests i can't say how much of a joy it's been to
16:03meet you guys you're absolutely joyous the pair of you thank you so much for your time thank you
16:09and your energy oh that's lovely have you got any feedback for us at all well i've written some notes

16:48they've had a great last breakfast except not everyone would feel comfortable with so ebullient

17:02yes this is it now this may have been their last breakfast in the competition
17:10and i'm not sure if it's what if it was quite enough to uh secure their position in the final
17:17rob jackie we're off we're off okay okay this is it big day we have to say it's gone up and down
17:25there's been peaks and troughs for every single host it's not just you yes that's going to be
17:30ultimately yeah what it all comes down to for sure so goosebumps see you later guys something has
17:38happened in the last night and a half where they have suddenly relaxed they both have fallen in love
17:46with this possibility we're now going to thrash this out with the the other judges
17:53the last inspection over the hosts have done everything they can but there's no rest for a b and beer
18:00we don't like the letter dropped away no that gold envelope will be in my nightmares
18:07the b and b's might be empty but the judges have one last letter for the hosts lucky last one look

18:25with this impose i'm so excited you've 200 guests arriving tonight and you've got to make dinner for

19:29it's the moment of truth for the hosts who will finally be able to read what the guests think of
19:34them and their hospitality that pool looks so nice even though i don't really like polls ready

23:07as the hosts ponder the guest books what they don't know is the guests were asked for more specific
23:13feedback for the judges and some of the comments are eye-opening we need to really look at how these
23:19guests have seen each of these houses we have one comment here maybe don't quit your day job
23:40it's the final day and the judges are in their hq making a decision that will change one couple's
23:46lives forever we have now the guest cards we need to really really look at how these guests have seen
23:53each of these houses which may be completely different to our viewpoint as their future is
24:00debated by the judges the hosts are getting a taste of the life they could have if they win we'll do a
24:06picnic right we're there michelle and steve the bouncy spaniels with magic let's go and have a sandwich
24:14come on their big thing with all of their guests all of the comments has been about their bouncy
24:23exuberant welcome they're terribly warm they are very very both of them you you know that they're
24:29just open-hearted i'm in this one the hosts were crackers great people great people but then this
24:38guest said be careful with too much energy depending on guests where are we going to go how do you work
24:45these things then pushing pedal now oh bye au revoir rob and jackie it's a very mixed bag we have one
24:53comment here keep doing what you're doing don't change okay which is fantastic and then the next one
25:02maybe don't quit your day job which is a little bit devastating yeah perhaps a little harsh last but

25:20on the guest cards were quite popular on this card for example what did you like most about your experience
25:26chatting to our very friendly host after dinner um after the excellent dinner actually with the guests
25:32feedback on their minds the judges must now decide which couple has failed to impress
25:40for the hosts who've been battling it out all week running a bmb would be a dream come true
25:49michelle and steve started working at 16 and after raising their kids
25:53they are now keener than ever to export their yorkshire charm to the continent so what do you
25:58think about it always b and b brilliant idea should have done it sooner we couldn't do it sooner we've
26:05had to look after you two it's going to change his lives you know we're a couple from barnesley
26:12we've grafted all his lives nobody's give us any money so this is our opportunity to prove ourselves
26:18i wouldn't say it's the last chapter in his lives i'd say we're just turning another page in our lives
26:26all the uh road trips and all the baguettes what's not to like bonjour

26:44this week michelle and steve's personality has won over the french locals this prize would allow them
26:50to start a new business working together they've got so much drive to win and the drive gets them
26:57wherever they want to be in life my mom's a very competitive woman she always gets what she wants to
27:03be honest i am competitive when it's something like this because it's going to affect all of us as a
27:10family so i am absolutely so wanting to win this i love the energy they are incredibly warm i felt
27:21absolutely engaged and even those guests that don't like hugging ended up hugging it is infectious did i
27:29find it a bit loud in in some instances yes in the ear department even so did you get used to this
27:36culture i absolutely love it it's so are you wherever you go wherever you look it's just beautiful seeing
27:44me ain't it we've got a chance to be here we love hosting a b&b in france it's our dream absolute dream
27:52we work hard look after people and we have moments like this they had one or two hurdles during the
28:01week you either had to endure a tikka masala that had curdled why would you choose to cook a curry
28:08in front in a french b&b something magic has happened because on monday i looked at his swan
28:15on the bed and i thought oh my goodness i've been transported back to the 60s and but by yesterday
28:23i was going steve you've made smoking swans and they looked amazing absolutely amazing so yeah that's
28:32magic as they say and each to their own i mean brilliant has it brought us closer together i'd say
28:39uh picnic this morning and we all dance we don't all dancers very often we weren't held on for 10 years
28:52at home rob and jackie have been married for 20 years
28:55and run a kitchen renovation business together so we need to talk about these kitchen designs
29:02every day is busy you know we've got a business to run which is busy in itself
29:07i think that's really nice yeah i quite like that four kids to still sort of run around after
29:12having a b&b would give us a fresh start a fresh start and a fresh start is what they need after a
29:20brush with death four years ago it was at the beginning of covid i was feeling very very out of breath
29:29i went to the doctors and she told me i'd got complete heart block
29:32it was very very scary i didn't actually have a will but i actually made the will while i was in the
29:38hospital bed because i didn't know what was going to happen obviously i you know i'd like not to have
29:45a pacemaker um you know but obviously it's it's keeping you alive it's keeping me here it's keeping you
29:52so
29:56to the chateau there look oh that is beautiful look look up there
30:02it's it's time to put us first now jackie and rob have fallen in love with the french scenery
30:08and a win would mean they could sell up shop to make the move they've always dreamed of
30:13this area is just so beautiful i mean france is beautiful anyway isn't it you know i can't
30:18believe how lush green it is though no i can't it just gives you such a sense of like
30:23calm and tranquil isn't it and that's certainly what we both could do with definitely we had a few
30:29issues there was uh chili gate cheese gate cheese gate croissant gate croissant guy i don't know anyone
30:37what we saw this morning with rob and jackie was an immense improvement i mean they shattered the
30:49glass ceiling it was like two completely different contestants they were relaxed jackie was very affable
30:57and warm with everyone they acknowledged their various foibles through the week which i thought was
31:04braver them at breakfast to acknowledge cheese gate the sheet gate chili gate chili gate yeah
31:11chili gate pastry gate oh pastry gate yes lemon pasta gate lemon pasta gate but in with the best
31:19intentions they really really pulled it round today they were completely different and it gave me
31:26a difference in five days it gave me goosebumps
31:29regardless of what happens it has cemented the fact that this is what we're going to do and we was
31:36putting plans into place now to get it sorted and make the move and this is what it's all about
31:43isn't it just taking time out for us as well yeah and to have a calmer way of life a world away from
31:50where we are at the minute
31:57my day-to-day life is i'm really busy i've got two jobs and i probably have one day off a week
32:04having worked in other people's kitchens all his life roy is now desperate to do things his way
32:11i have a huge menu up here and i've written it down and it has to come out what a better place in
32:16france we want to run a bmb because i would be really well organized and roy would just do these
32:22told i think it will give us a better quality of life and although it's would be our own business
32:31i think would have more freedom um to do things ourselves rather than be dictated to by other people
32:37i scroll holidays a lot in my spare time um we love holidays absolutely adoring any chance to get
32:43away i usually find them and then convince roy that it's essential that we have to go on this
32:49like a geography trip we have no ties and we're we're free to go and do what we like
32:56for sure wow pistachios shall we get some moving to france would definitely be a new chapter for us and
33:04just a dream come true breakfast that had sort of skimpy hollandaise sauce and they were over
33:11ambitious yeah we'd actually seen the chaos of forgetting the milk all of that um we were there
33:16for if you like their down day but not once did roy stop smiling it's an old citron diane i need to
33:23take a photograph i love them i know we definitely have fallen in love with france so if we didn't win
33:30we're still going to do this love this week i've definitely banned one of these definitely really
33:36oh i love it hopefully in better condition 30 40 years of age you're not going to get a brand new
33:41one you know all right whenever there is a problem she's the one that goes and addresses it and it that
33:49teamwork is lovely they're very professional they're very kind very genuine and very calm
33:56every single guest commented on their kindness nicola and roy have been won over by the incredible
34:06french produce if they win they'll be quitting their jobs and can't wait to be their own boss
34:12make a wish i'm gonna make a wish what are you gonna wish for no i know
34:15hopefully we are the best hopefully i could be going home in the next couple hours what did you
34:23make a wish for probably the same as you what's that i'm not saying is it for this to turn out the
34:29way we want it okay only two couples can go through to finals week is it good okay until i'm quiet
34:39yeah i'll get a bigger tube now it's up to the judges who have high standards to meet i'm gonna
34:45go and win this let's go win this b and b too many people have had too many troughs i have to be
34:53just a little bit sharp now and a little bit stern because this is a huge prize i know it's an immense
35:01prize and i'm sorry at some point you pull yourself together and you stick with the program rob and jackie
35:07on day one were our favorites she sometimes appeared quite nervous and stressed herself
35:14they must all have done but she showed it more than the other michelle does have a click on
35:22performance switch so where's what at which point is there an authenticity there just because you've got
35:29a click on star switch doesn't mean to say you're not authentic look at you
35:34then we get to nicola and roy if baking and cooking is their usp why is their breakfast not number one
35:42for the guests you're right in a competition like this why aren't why isn't everything on that table home
35:48baked well look we have the guest figures we have our opinion it is minuscule differences yeah they are
36:00minutes but but somebody has to go home today and i think we know what we have to do i think we do
36:17with a decision made the judges will return to where they had breakfast to deliver the verdict
36:22i feel a sense of apprehension delivering the news to our host this week and having to send someone
36:29home it's a huge prize and it's a life-changing prize so we will be breaking someone's dream today
36:37two couples will go through to the finals but for one the dream of winning a bmb in france will be over

36:52why are you gonna take the outcome the sewing we're not going through i'll be gutted absolutely gutted

37:44lives five grueling days 14 guests 19 breakfasts and it all comes down to this they've worked really
37:54really hard they should be really proud of themselves it's been a truly difficult decision
38:00but there's only one bmb to give away and it's time to go and give them the results
